For anyone else reading this, the proportion of Rose Wests in female society is extremely low compared to the proportion of people like this guy (or worse) in TIM society. When enough of a group of people are a certain way, yes, that is representative regardless of how uncomfortable that makes other members of the group. In a conscientious group the others sit with the discomfort and work to self-police and improve the behaviours of their group. In a feckless group of bad actors, the members externalise and DARVO as much as possible. But that’s their problem to solve.

Why should women have this sort of thing forced into our spaces? How would a woman defend herself against that rage alone in a toilet or in the kitchen of a women’s refuge after the staff have gone home for the day?

I don’t think videos like this should be released because there is always someone who wants to excuse this behaviour.
But mainly because they clearly have a mental health problem and need help.
He isn’t a she, it’s not possible. Popping a blue wig on and demanding people call him a she is not autistic and it’s offensive to suggest this based on a short video of a man having a tantrum because others don’t buy into his ideas.

Throwing on a wig, isn’t being in the wrong body, it’s wanting to be different and demanding everyone buys into it.

It is true that lots of girls who call themselves ‘trans’ are autistic, that doesn’t mean that most autistic men are trans!

"Misgendering" can only occur amongst people who identify by the imaginary characteristic of "gender" and subscribe to the unrealistic worldview that goes with such delusions.

The vast majority of people identify themselves and other people by sex, a real human characteristic, and we are not going to change our worldview just because some obnoxious, hysterical bloke "demands" that we do so.

Is there proof of autism?

We do not know if he is autistic - and are not qualified to diagnose this (far too much 'self-diagnosis' going on as well). We do know he is severely mentally ill and that illness has been made worse by 'be kind' instead of dealing with the illness with counselling.

It's one person. No more representative of trans people than Rose West is of cis women.

And so what? Doesn't make deliberate misgendering any less petty & sad.

As an autistic woman I find this extremely offensive.

Also as an autistic woman with mental health issues, if an autistic person is having a mental health crisis you should treat them as such.

And that's acknowledging your wild idea that trans = autistic.

obviously I can’t speak for this particular case and tell you whether he’s autistic/mentally unwell. But I deal with this sort of behaviour a lot (not necessarily in relation to trans issues) and it’s often performative behaviour aimed at getting what they want. Shouting, screaming, wailing makes people uncomfortable and draws the attention of onlookers. It makes people uncomfortable and so the hope is that you do what they want for fear of being seen to target/mistreat a minority group.

To balance that, I have serious issues with that officer’s use of force. Taser in particular should be a last resort thing saved for immediate danger. It should never be used as a compliance tool.

They knew if they brought him to the prison he could not be out in with the General Population as the ordinary prisoners would not put up with him, presumably would beat him up, the other alternative was to send him to someplace that takes mentally ill people. They called that place Baker.

It looks like a deliberate performance to me. He doesn’t look out of control and u happy - but enraged.

The speed he moves to rage is frightening.

Kid can be unhappy about pronouns, but should have just walked away. No reason to stick around if you’re being insulted. Definitely WAY overrated by having a full blown tantrum/psychotic episode. Hope police provided a full psych evaluation and arranged for this clearly disturbed person to get the help they need. And better hair so they don’t look like Cousin It from the Addams Family.

I agree, it's a performance. The police were there for a call about a stolen car, he intercepted them, he wanted to set them on others. When they showed no interest in doing so he went into full performance mode.
People like this are a menace to society, the coppers have probably released the footage in order to counteract the narrative in the 'community' about how they're the most marginalised people in the whole world and how they're subject to so much police brutality.

And they actually, generally do. I have an autistic family member - and this is nothing to do with being on the spectrum. Literally nothing. Being a massive, over entitled unit who wants to cause as much harm as possible to those around them is a personality trait, not an autistic one.

Yup. Anybody (regardless of whatever they claim is wrong with them, or even if they actually do have something wrong with them) who reacts like this to simply being correctly sexed - or even being wrongly sexed (which they have not been) is not safe to be allowed out in public. At all. Anywhere.

Now more than ever we need to bring back asylums for anyone who is too dangerous to be allowed to mix with normal people.

The court case has been closed, I don’t think he was convicted. Now that the case is closed it’s no longer evidence in an ongoing case and can be released. I think the chap involved is complaining that by releasing the police are harassing him and also getting harassed by media.

I don’t have much sympathy tbh. I feel sorrier for those whove had to put up with him. I dudpect that tantrums feature pretty regularly in his life.
