Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

Can anyone clarify exactly what Graham did that has given rise to the idea that he's anti votes for women?

He retweeted a satirical tweet the called for the repeal of the 19th Amendment, which is what gives women the constitutional right to vote.

Even if it wasn't satire, retweets aren't necessarily endorsements.

Given a choice between voting for someone who locks female prisoners up with men, or voting for someone who will scrap gender pay gap reporting, I'll vote for the president who will protect female prisoners. I'd have expected the proper old-school Left to agree with me on this. Gender pay gaps address problems faced by women who are privileged enough to have a job (a.k.a. the ever-demonised "middle-class white feminists"). Rehousing men into the male estate where they belong protects some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people within society.

Gender identity cultists will justify anything, no matter how much it hurts a group of women who are more likely to have been DV victims and more likely to have been brought up in poverty than every other group of women out there.

The vast majority, over 90% of women with jobs are working class women, not mîddle class women.

I can’t believe you’d prioritise the few hundred women who have committed horrible violent crimes having a 1 in 1,000 chance of a TW housed in a different wing of the same prison (TW aren’t ever in the general population or same wing as female prisoners incidents that have happened have been due to mismanagement by prison staff), over millions of hard working, law abiding women who just want fair pay to support their families.

It shows you lack critical thinking skills because you’ve sided with whichever scenario does very little harm to the fewest women instead of the scenario that does the most harm to most women.

Look at the rest of the tweets made by the original author; he's clearly a virulent misogynist. No he's not being 'ironic' or 'exaggerating' - and even if he were, what is he exaggerating? Using strong misogyny to mitigate his light misogyny? Sorry, that doesn't wash. So why is Linehan retweeting it? And try not to answer with some five-dimensional chess move he's apparently making; agree with his GC views or not, he clearly has a problem with women, and has done for years.

He's been back to harassing JKR for not being deferential enough to him in the last few days ffs.

Why is Linehan retweeting it

Why don’t you ask him???
How should anyone on here know??

Retweeted someone saying that the 19th amendment in the US should be repealed. But there are still people who are way too caught up in this trans business and are tying themselves up like pretzels to justify it instead of acknowledging that Linehan is using GC opinions as a wedge issue to promote far-right views, à la Kelly-Jay Keen.

What's horrifying me is that felt-identity politics has parasitised the Left to the point where there wasn't a presidential candidate who would protect both women in prison and working women.

That photo where Trump is surrounded by sportswomen and girls in their training attire as he signs that EO, the Left made that photograph possible.

The coin doesn't even mention race - but even if it did... Brunel's structures were built by slaves brought in through Bristol.

You are obviously not in the UK otherwise you would know that slavery was never really a thing here besides which Britain abolished slavery in 1833 & the vast majority of Brunel's structures were erected after that date.

Finally he is laughing at the coin because it is almost literally a meaningless token just like the phrase (OK it is worth 50p).

The UK has only become diverse in very recent times for example when I was born in 1953 there were only about 20,000-30,000 black people in Britain & perhaps 10,000-15,000 Asians. The figures now are about 2.5 million black people & nearly 6 million of Asian heritage.

Having said all of that...

Black and brown people ("moors" and other such terms in older parlance) have been here in small numbers for a long time. There's been a Yemeni community in South Shields since the late Victorian period.

There's also archaelogical evidence of Africans serving in Britain with Roman garrisons and using building techniques from "home" on Hadrian's Wall, so they did help to build that particular World Heritage site.

"if we want to be a serious country with law & order, anything short of outright abolishment of the 19th amendment would be a grave half-measure".
The 19th amendment allowed women to vote in America. Is that statement also not misogynist?

It's a joke. It's obvious from the hyperbole of "a grave half-measure". Funnily enough a sense of humour failure seems to go with the TRA territory.

There's a huge overlap between identifying as trans and being autistic. Autistic people, as a group, struggle to recognise jokes.

I am autistic and did not recognise it as satire.

Thanks for your unqualified opinion. But the bi modal spectrum is scientifically uncontroversial.

"The human body develops through a complex cascade of genetic and hormonal events. While traditional models often reduce biological sex exclusively to gamete production (producing either large ova or small sperm), this approach can be too rigid to account for all human bodies in reality. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Variations in sex traits—often referred to collectively as intersex or differences in sex development (DSD)—mean that an individual’s chromosomes, hormones, and anatomy do not always align with a single category. The bimodal spectrum embraces this physical reality, recognizing that biological sex is a multifactorial combination of traits with observable, naturally occurring variance. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]"

In the very text you quote: "producing either large ova or small sperm".

That's a binary outcome.

I'm pretty sure GL doesn't want to remove women's right to vote, but even if he did, this would not change the fundamental fact that humans come in two distinct sexes which are not interchangeable. .

I don't know much about him so if he posts something I assume that's what he means. All I know about him is he's a white man, I think he's Irish, he's GC.

TheignT · 18/07/2026 13:06

PrettyDamnCosmic · 18/07/2026 12:54

Do you know if mixed race people are included in those figures?

I don't know but suspect that the number of mixed race people in 1953 was very low because

  1. There weren't many black or brown people
  2. There was little interracial marriage.

Oh I thought there were established black and mixed race communities particularly in port cities like Liverpool. I wonder if the figures are from censuses, could be inaccurate for example I know my kids will tick white black or mixed race on forms depending on how they feel at the time.

I started school in the 1950s and was a minority as most of the kids were black or mixed race, even my class teacher was black, her DD was my best friend. The neighbouring Catholic school was the opposite with only a handful of black kids. There werent many Asian children but that changed as we ent through the 60s.

I never realised how unusual my childhood was. I guess you just see your normal á normal.

NullaEffugium · 18/07/2026 13:04

His posts are problematic.

  1. name two examples of the patriarchy on the exam for school leavers. That’s a good thing. How are we meant to educate future men on their male privilege and entitlement if they aren’t even taught about their patriarchy?

  2. the Disney shuffle doesn’t coincide with a drop in quality. The main proof of that was Toy Story which was actually a Pixar creation that Disney then bought out. Disney creators didn’t think of it. These male leaders had not produced anything in a very long time, Disney just got tired of buying successes and they got sacked for failure to perform. The entire narrative of men fired, women hired and then the company now declines or implodes is purely misogyny.

  3. the Diversity Built Britain is 100% true no matter how far back into history you go. To pretend that it was the white ruling class of Eton boys that built Britain is an utter joke and yes that sort of pretence is racist and misogynist.

backformoreofthesame · 18/07/2026 12:55

He's a wrong un, as are many in the GC movement - it's why I stopped engaging with it. You can believe that a man can never be a woman and vice versa without engaging in bigotry and intolerance.

In many circles, the fact that you believe a man can never be a woman is the very epitome of bigotry.

I'm embarrassing myself? Do I need to find more examples of his misogyny? Claiming his ex-wife's show was shit once he was no longer involved in writing it? Leading a witch-hunt against Imane Khelif despite her not being trans? Vocally, enthusiastically supporting 'grab-them-by-the-pussy' Trump? I'm sick of him being held up as any sort of defender of women's rights despite clearly having no interest in women's rights outside of his own ego.

Exactly how much leeway are you happy to give him just because you agree with him on one subject?

Now you’ve completely shown yourself to be the very opposite of a feminist.
Imane Khelife is male. He is pretending to be female. Males who pretend to be female are the very definition of trans. He knows he is male and all those around him also know he’s male. He’s a grifter who’s exploiting his DSD for ££££s. And here you are pretending he’s female.

TheignT · 18/07/2026 12:34

Igneococcus · 17/07/2026 22:04

The thing is: Graham Linehan could be the devil incarnate (and I'm not saying he is) he would still be absolutely correct that men can't become women and that they should stay the fuck out of women-only spaces.

Women's spaces with no access to voting?

Depends on the biological framework used.

Male in the sense of binary reproductive sex but female in the sense of bi/multi modal trait sex.

But good luck teaching cultists new tricks.

I don’t subscribe to your made up version, just the real one, hope that helps.

Exactly. The point of this thread is to smear us with guilt by association.

It's as ridiculous as suggesting that anyone who prefers motorways over A roads for long journeys is a literal Nazi because Hitler thought the same and so organised the building of the autobahns.

Yep.
