Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

Oh so comedy writer rather than comedian. I didn't like Father Ted so maybe that's why his name doesn't register with me.

Black Books
The IT Crowd
Big Train
Motherland

He's the writer behind Father Ted (and other stuff).

No reason why you'd recognise him as writers don't tend to get the spotlight.

As I said I know very little about him and I've definitely never read a tweet of his before. Is he a comedian? I don't think I'd know him if I bumped into him.

I certainly hope you're right, I don't like the idea of losing the vote although as I'm not American I suppose it doesn't apply to me anyway.

I don't think there's any great plan behind it. I think he's just a bit haphazard/impulsive and tweets stuff without thinking.

I'm no great fan of the man, but I doubt he genuinely believes women's voting rights should be taken away.

Ok I still didn't read that as people on here being responsible for him or what he said.

I think the trouble on line is it doesn't always seem obvious what is meant. Not knowing him I just read it as he was endorsing what he was retweeting but others who know more about him read it differently. Not sure now what he really meant. Maybe that's the trick, leave people guessing.

If you read through the thread, you will see plenty of posts suggesting Graham's retweets reflect badly on GC women. For ... reasons.

I don't think the OP was saying any of us are responsible for him. Wasn't it just sharing some information about something he posted? Maybe I missed a post

Surely if they want information on what a man posts they will just...follow that man on social media?

I seem to remember Corbyn, rightly, getting a huge amount of stick for doing the same about "mistakenly" retweeting/liking anti-Semitic imagery.

No-one forced GL to retweet that post without bothering to check its content.

I reject your framing.

Corbyn is on record for decades as supporting anti-democratic, theocratic and misogynist regimes in the Middle East (and elsewhere) as part of his anti-capitalism set of beliefs, as well as frequently making anti-semitic statements. When this behaviour is pointed out to Corbyn he prevaricates and denies.

Graham Linehan is on record as supporting women's groups and women's rights, he has platformed women's writing/voices and, by his own statements, is known as considering feminism to be a good thing. Linehan's retweet was explained to him by women who disliked it and he acknowledged his error.

Ok, so we can conclude that none of us are responsible for Graham's tweets so the whole premise of this thread is ridiculous.

Good to get that cleared up.

Thank fuck for that.

Glad I didn't waste my time with it.

I had a huge belly laugh at one point this morning. A couple of posts cracked me up!

I am not blaming anyone here for what Glinner tweets, as I wrote before. I wouldn’t expect to be blamed for what other people write, or their opinions, either.

However, Glinner does do questionable things and has dubious judgement at times. For feminists, some of his opinions might be stretching the boundaries. I don’t have an issue with saying this is problematic for me. It may not be for you, and that’s fine.

It is problematic for you that one man does things you dont like?

And it is really, really important that you get your chance to say that repeatedly?

You really need to move on, he isnt that into you love.

How many data centres are we gonna need if everyone o the planet has to say online that they disagree with everyone they disagree with? Sheesh.

Do the TRAs ever take a step back and ponder why GC women would need 'far right' bogeymen to convince them humans can't change sex and women deserve their legal rights upheld?

Because that's conclusion an intelligent woman can come to by herself.

Yes, it’s similar to the question of why all these women are able to claim discrimination and harassment in court and win when there’s absolutely no conflict of rights la la la.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/07/2026 11:53

BlessingYou · 19/07/2026 11:34

Yes, indeed.

Yes, anyone who goes around calling people “sheeple” isn’t someone whose opinion I respect, wouldn’t you agree? Because that’s what @Igneococcus and I are referring to, a post earlier in the thread, in case you thought my comment was a dig at you.

And yet, somehow the women of FWR are linked to what GL says outwith GC issues and in some weird way held responsible for it or at least expected to distance us from it. This is what this thread was created for.

In all the years I have been involved in these threads, and I've been here long enough to remember the legendary LangCleg, I have never seen a TRA start a thread to distance themselves from some of the stuff other TRAs and some trans people come out with, never. If they, and you, are equally disturbed by it, they hide it well.

My opinions are my own. (And I’m not a TRA of any kind.)

Shedmistress · 19/07/2026 09:47

Another thread full of one bloke using every tactic to wear down women who say no.

Timeless.

And really, it still only boils down to the mantra “transwomen are women”, which is meaningless now that everyone knows that woman means biological woman.

I kept looking for this year’s update to the tracker

I think this is what you want. The last data is 28th January 2026 & it's specifically about toilets.

Those in favour of separate toilets for men & women 50%
Those in favour of gender neutral toilets as well as separate toilets for men & women 38%

https://yougov.com/en-gb/trackers/support-for-separate-toilets-for-men-and-women-and-gender-neutral-toilets-in-public-spaces

Thanks

but no I was after the more in-depth polls that had been asking the same questions about single sex provision usage since 2018. They made a tweak in 2020. And then sex matters got a poll done with the same questions and I think the Labour Party got a similar one done December 2024 that was released in Jan 2025. They were yearly or every two years for a period.
