Vulva Only Spaces

Is this what we need to be asking for now?

That wouldn't exclude people who had transitioned. But it would exclude people who have a penis. Surely when people had transitioned and have a vulva instead of a penis they would feel exactly the same way, as women.

This OP was just hoping for a bunch of screenshots to show off to the rest of their Righteous pals, proving that the viperous hags of MN are perverts demanding genital inspections.

I still haven't figured out how @Boiledbeetle does the upside down thing though! Maybe one day I'll figure out the trick to it.

It isn't about men's magic penises (just as penis-y if they've been chopped off or chopped up). it's their maleness. Also, transwomen don't have vulvas, as was made sadly and starkly obvious a decade of so when the Guardian weekend magazine featured a double-page spread of pictures of vulvas, one of which wasn't. Sadly for the person who suffered.

This OP reads like one of those posters who bangs on about genital inspections.

I rather suspect that this was the goal indeed: get us to accept that "vulva-only spaces" is a great idea, and then wonder, "Oh, but how are we going to make sure everyone has a vulva? ... Ha ha ha, gotcha! You say you don't want genital inspections, but there I have the proof that you really do!"

Didn't quite work out that way, hence the flounce, I suppose.

Isn't the whole point of transitioning that those people feel they are a woman in a man's body?

I didn't phrase that clearly. Women, not all women, but many women feel differently about being confronted by an unexpected and unwelcome penis than men do. That is how flashers get their kicks - from the shock and fear expressed by the woman they have shown their cock to. Similarly, the way a lot of women are repulsed by unsolicited dick picks.

I'm surprised you are unaware of this. I'm equally surprised that you grade posts. Does it make you feel good?

A vulva is the end of a full reproductive system which defines our life experience based on sex.

Mutilating yourself to look from the outside a bit like the real thing does not change your sex. It does not change your reproductive system.

It just shows up the lack of respect and your lack of understanding of the opposite sex.

We should treat mutilated men as men. Because they are not women and continuing to indulge the idea that they are somehow women is harming women. And harming far more women than there are mutilated men.

End of conversation.

borntobequiet · 18/07/2026 07:18

Utterly batty.

I'm talking about spaces, especially enclosed spaces where women have traditionally accepted nudity from other women, changing rooms would be one. Even women who choose to go into a cubicle to change shouldn't have to come out of that cubicle to see a penis.

My point is we should be allowed spaces where they doesn't happen. And if we need to change the wording from Women to Vulva spaces. If it really needs that clarity, then perhaps we should do that.

This isn't what you said. You specifically included trans-identified men who had been through surgery to create a facsimile of a vulva in the group of people who would be allowed into these vulva only spaces. That's not a women only space.

I don't want to be defined by a body part. Being female is complex and impacts every cell of our bodies. Changing from "Woman", to something that is just a small part of being a woman reduces us. It would also exclude women who have been unfortunate to lose their vulva for instance, from radical surgery for cancer of the vulva.

We are women. What we need is for people to stop trying to change the meaning of the word that does actually define us perfectly.

Owly11 · 18/07/2026 06:51

What? What on earth are you talking about? You think a mutilated man feels just like a woman? You do know that being a woman has absolutely nothing to do with feelings right?

I am not disagreeing with you. The point of my post was to find a way, in light of how women are being marginalised, to make it very clear that women should have women spaces. We shouldn't have to be so specific but if using the word vulva does mean penises are barred, then maybe that is the way to go.

“Female” and “male” covers this problem completely.

There isn’t any need to bring genitalia into it - genitalia are not the main problem with males in female spaces.

What were you going to label the “male” toilets?

I am not sure you can be making a serious proposal here.

Mapletree1985 · 18/07/2026 03:29

The only way to have a vulva is to be born with one.

Jerrybalanitis · 18/07/2026 02:36

Like parent and child spaces?

Your posts are quite confusing and it is you that seems to be missing the logic and then deciding to call people fuckwits.

Using the term vulva will not clarify who uses which provision.

  1. male people claim to have any female external body part that a surgeon will ‘create’.

  2. you would need to educate large portions of the female population in the UK what and where their vulva is.

  3. as so many posts have pointed out, it is incorrect, as well as inaccurate, to reduce access to any female single sex provision to who has what body part, and a male person can abuse and harm female people even when he doesn’t have a penis. The penis is only relevant to some aspects of male abuse of female people. So why bring the focus of any discussion about which people use which provision down to penises ie vulvas.

The law is already clear. No men in women's single sex spaces. That includes men who've had their cocks cut off (though most of them haven't).

Lurkingandlearning · 17/07/2026 20:21

I agree with all of that. And I'm angry that it seems to me that women are now being marginalised and expected to accept things that we don't want in favour of people who say they want to be women. If they want to be women, support women.

The point of my post was to ask if using the wording vulva only spaces would at least allow us to continue to have, or claw back, the right to have some places where there is no possibility of exposure to male genitalia.

We already have that right. In law. SCJ - sex means biological sex
Are Trans Identified Men still arguing about it? Yes. But the law is clear.
No men in women's single sex spaces. Regardless of surgery, certificates and womanly feels.

I'm sorry. I thought part of the surgery to change the genitalia removed the penis and created something at least resembling a vulva. Am I wrong?

Yes.

It's a surgical wound and artificially created gash not a vulva.

It is offensive and inaccurate to suggest it is a female part of the body that has been recreated. It's not.
