He said in 2015 he wrote that "as a gay man and a Christian I find it personally very hard to warm to the idea of a rented womb".

So he knows it’s wrong but doesn’t care.

German politician faces calls to resign over child born with US surrogate

Surrogacy is banned in Germany, a policy firmly backed by Jens Spahn's Christian Democrat party, and several years ago by Spahn, too.

Aaaaaand he's gone.

Great, he sounds like he's no loss.

gosh yes, I'd forgotten that.
He is odious, as is Merz. As are pretty much all the CDU/CSU and AfD

there are ever louder calls for his resignation. Turns out his surrogate (his partner's sperm and he has not yet adoped the child) was already pregnant when they had the vote banning surrogacy (not out of care for women, but part of a bill about embryos iirc.)

It will be ironic if this is what brings him down, and not his blatant corruption during covid sourcing of PPE.

Covid sourcing is the least of it. He made private investments in fintech companies while in post as Staatssekretär at the Ministry of Finance. Then when confronted about it, didn't see anything wrong with it.

Rotten through and through, that man.

He knew it was against the law and he didn't care. What's the point of politicians, here or abroad. 😤
