Loving the memories of puddings. We were only very rarely allowed them because our weirdo parents decided that sugar was evil and banned it from the house, except for once a year or so. There used to be a little box in the pantry which held our treats, a translucent one with a red lid. One weekend my dad lit a bonfire in the garden and the box went onto it and, nearly 60 years later, I can still see it flying through the flames and burning. Never forgotten that.

Yes I think it was Bon Accord. The shops usually stocked Barrs drinks, they famous for Irn Bru but made all the colours/flavours really. The bottles were currency at 10p each. I remember there were some workers doing some grounds work in the local woods and they had a portacabin to take lunch in. When they left they gave their huge stash or Barrs bottles to one of us kids, like £7 worth - untold riches in 1984 Fife I can tell you that!

when I got back to my desk and saw I'd been quoted twice on this thread I was like 'oh no what ill advised nonsense have I said and been pulled up on now' and it was just us reminiscing about fizzy juice! The relief was quite something.

Thank you Rhannion, I've been wracking my brain since yesterday trying to remember to remember the name of the van - it was the Bon Accord man!

We didn't have money to spare so we were only occasionally allowed a big bottle of ginger from the van to share. There were four of us kids so much discussion about what to get.

Birds Apeel. Basically sugar and orange colouring that you added water to to make neon coloured orange "juice".

Chicken and mushroom pot noodle was the only one I liked, please don't ruin that for me.

I'm sure I remember Tip Top though! And Nova bars. No-one ever remember Nova bars to the point that I'm convinced they were specific to my primary school...

we had the fizzy juice lorry in Fife back in the day. the name escapes me, but you could get red cola, cream soda. We never got it because we were poor, but it used to drive up our street once a week. We called it fizzy juice my da and the glesca lot called it ginger.

We used to get those individual chocolate or strawberry mousses. The bottom of the pot in one make had a Disney(?) character embossed into it. I think you were to use it as a mould with plaster of Paris then paint them.

Another of my Mum's staples was jelly made up with lightly whipped evaporated milk, which made it all bubbly.

In our house that was called "chiffon". I think the inspo was originally from a women's magazine.

And ice lollies - cider apple lollies, anyone?
