Poppybear ex of the polycule continues to spill the beans.

Herbert revelling in the death threats they got as validation. Seems a bit middle aged edgelord

That post about organic sensors for stress hormones seems a bit conspiracy theoryish.

I've had to Google as not knowing the law in Scotland.
It seems that the Procurator can take a blooming long time to decide, if the person isn't in custody. Is it six months for summary offences and possibly more if deemed more serious?
Someone will be along to clarify I'm sure.
A touch of the process is the punishment for Herbert it seems.

Well that's nice if so....

Isn't it around now that they should have made a decision re whatever they arrested Herbert over?

TakingMyChancesWithTheRabbits · Yesterday 10:13

I assume you're making a pro-boner joke, because pro bono really isn't Jolyon's MO.

Chersfrozenface · 05/08/2026 17:19

They're such big mates, I'm sure Jolyon will do it pro bono.

With these men, it's all pro bono.

Oh no, that's horrid

I reminded my dad about it about ten years ago, but he'd forgotten he'd thrown all our sweeties on the fire and was appalled at what he'd done. Parents in the 60s could be quite strange with their newfangled ideas.

TWETMIRF · 06/08/2026 09:05

I have simple tastes, I used to like a chunky choc ice.

Talking of nostalgic ice cream, a boyfriend of mine had a job selling ice cream from a van in the seventies. One of the best sellers was Count Dracula’s Deadly Secret, a black lolly with a red interior. When you sucked the top, the red became visible. At that time I had a pair of black patent heels with red toes, which I wore for my waitressing job. We called them my Deadly Secrets.
Happy (if slightly bonkers) times.

Edited

I never heard of that sucking revealing red insides cold comestible.
But that might be the next goldmark surgical procedure.

On nostalgic ice creams, Funny Faces and the heart shaped dark choc covered vanilla ice cream with the delicious but no doubt completely synthetic red centre. More on point, a lot of resistance is existence on reddit in response to the guidance. Including gloating about looking at breasts and numerous cervix as a "woman" in health care. Made me feel queasier than junket.

'Operation let them speak' is still working.

How utterly grim though.

Jolyon wouldn't give anyone the current time pro bono.

I was being sarcastic. Or hallucinating. One or the other.

The phrase "solely for the cost of surgery" kind of fucks up the possibility of any secondary purpose.

KittyWilkinson · 05/08/2026 13:46

As a young teenager ( a thousand years ago) I was part of a Friends of the Earth protest who climbed over the wall of the Schweppes factory to return their non returnable bottles.
All fifty of them. It was a right faff an' all.

Not so much a green protest as a How Very Dare You Make Them No Cash Back protest.

Greta Thunberg has nothing on young me!

Edited for blooming auto correct!

murasaki · 05/08/2026 13:00

Dp remembers the same from lemonade bottles. His neighbours would give him their empties to take back and keep the cash.

I guess the modern day equivalent is when my nieces go with my sister or their dad to the cricket they are allowed to collect the plastic beer vessels and take back their own beer snake. The deposit is normally 1 quid per cup, and people are lazy, or sometimes give them to them. I think the most they made after one match was 60 quid! Top pocket money!

When I was out playing I came across a skip that had loads of empty Barr's bottles, at least ten. I left them. No-one else was around. The skip was parked in the road but I felt taking them would be stealing. Too bloody honest for my own good. I still regret it. Although I don't know how I'd've carried them all.

Me on the other hand could be found on Sunday mornings, when all the other kids were in Sunday school, repeatedly climbing over the wall into the brewery yard and nicking as many empty Barrs bottles as I could. I'd stash them elsewhere and take them to the off licence later!

So they were 10p, bloody hell that was a lot in those days. What a lovely story 😍

Ah the old ‘glass cheques’. I was amazed as a kid accompanying my granny’s next door neighbour to the shops and leaving with sweets from the old Irn Bru bottles.
