There was also the statement that Chase Strangio was forced to admit in the US Supreme Court that “there is no evidence in some—in the studies that this treatment reduces completed suicide. And the reason for that is completed suicide, thankfully and admittedly, is rare”

I love Hackney but at the moment ,my God, it feels like a weird place to live.

If it was an isolated incedent, OK whatever, but there is a pattern of violence by the far Left - the Trans movement has been characterised by violence from the start but to demonise Andy Burnham??? He's been so pro LGBT rights in Manchester.
That is genuinely disturbing.

A Hackney Green Group spokesperson said

A number of Green councillors attended the event in order to reiterate their solidarity with the trans community, including holding a minute silence for transgender people who have lost their lives due to societal prejudice and violence.

So we agree that violence is bad?

This event was held in the context of the revised EHRC guidance, which works to segregate trans people from public life, exposes them to risk and makes unfeasible asks of businesses, services, and public bodies.

We obviously have different perspectives on the guidance, but could you maybe advise the attendees that the guidance makes no difference to the law, and that if they want the law to be changed they need to use the democratic process? That anything else is a waste of time?

Any protest involves various organisations and individuals. There is no collective responsibility for each attendee to account for the actions of other attendees.

But we agree that violence is bad and a politician has just been murdered? Could you not at least condemn their actions?

I've stopped giving these people any quarter. The entire ideology is a toxic cult with a physically violent wing which in my opinion should be treated accordingly.

I no longer give it much thought but I have been evolving my opinion generally on how we as a society prioritise resources and attention. My "peaking" journey used to be something like, trans people aren't actually the most marginalised people and we should give attention/priority to others who are more marginalised, such as women in prisons.

My thinking is shifting to something like: "being marginalised/vulnerable" shouldn't be a criterion for priority at all. Society should organise itself around people who are able to fit into it competently, because then it will select for people who are able to do that.

We can't say for years that "vulnerability/marginalisation" gets you sympathy and not expect to have people create spiralling narratives of increasing danger to themselves, trans genocide blah blah, that lead to this kind of openly violent reaction because they've been conditioned to genuinely believe they're in physical danger justifying an even more violent response.

The Greens run my local council.
I didn't vote for them.
I wonder how many people who voted them in in my area will be OK with this?

It’s horrible and completely unacceptable the way some Bonfire Societies behave. (E.g Lewes). Not acceptable to burn effigies of democratically elected politicians. Or, as one year, travellers.

OK, we know what Bonfire Night is based on but I very much doubt that the current generation of customers for a pack of rockets and sparklers in Lidl have any idea of who Guy F was. So it is losing its sectarian connotations and becoming simply a firework festival. Maybe?

It isn’t only the TRAs. The language, imagery, content of the far right is also abhorrent. About even vaguely L wing politicians, anyone of colour.

The whole dynamic is wrong. The shift to ‘if you don’t agree, hate is the only option, and the only purpose of hate is violence… here we go!’

Interesting. So this kind of "freedom of expression" is allowed, but women saying "no" and parents saying "let's think about this, let's discuss" and therapists saying "let's explore the issues" should be criminalized?
