I mean, WTF? How many more warnings of actual violence do there have to be before the risk these people pose will be taken seriously, especially just days after Anne Widdicombe was murdered?

And why am I not surprised that Green councillors were in attendance Hmm

"They were not aware the stunt was planned and had left the protest before it took place."

It's awfully "A big boy did it and ran away", isn't it?

Ha ha. The BBC. Much lols.

So it should be easy to find some data to contradict them, right?

'29 January 2026
Homicides have fallen to their lowest level for nearly 50 years across England and Wales, official statistics show.
There were 499 victims of murder, manslaughter and infanticide in the year to September, according to crime statistics, external published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
It is the lowest number since 1977 and a 7% fall on the previous year, largely due to a drop in the number of people killed by knives - 174, down 23%'

A man in a blue forensics suits stands over another person, also in a blue forensics suit, at a crime scene. They are in between lines of parked cars and there is a camera on a tripod next to the man standing.

https://policinginsight.com/feature/analysis/most-crime-has-fallen-by-90-in-30-years-so-why-does-the-public-think-its-increased/

'As of 2024, violence, burglary and car crime have been declining for 30 years and by close to 90%, according to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) – our best indicator of true crime levels. Unlike police data, the CSEW is not subject to variations in reporting and recording.
The drop in violence includes domestic violence and other violence against women. Anti-social behaviour has similarly declined. While increased fraud and computer misuse now make up half of crime, this mainly reflects how far the rates of other crimes have fallen.
All high-income countries have experienced similar trends, and there is scientific consensus that the decline in crime is a real phenomenon.'

This is interesting:

'Decreases in crimes often committed by teenagers, such as joyriding or burglary, had a multiplying effect: when teenagers could no longer commit these easy “debut crimes” they did not progress to longer criminal careers.'

Psychopathy and personality disorders are not all that rare. I've seen rough estimates of 1 in a 100.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/14sn7XmYwXkKYDbLpPhMqk9/what-we-get-wrong-about-psychopaths

I think part of the problem is that this group have been given free rein and shown that, where there might have been consequences before, now there are none. They have been given a pass for all kinds of bad behaviour on the theoretical (false) ground that they are terribly oppressed and that the groups that are “oppressing” them (i.e. us, amongst others) deserve it and therefore should not be protected at any time.

It will take a lot to contain it at this point. See also, for example, the much less violent, but equally entitled insistence that they are not going to follow the Supreme Court judgment.

My concern would be that, while everyone is distracted by this, something worse than what we have at the moment will be ushered in, such as Sharia Law or other extremism. I feel our society is being destabilized, leaving us at risk of people voting for risky things as a protest, without foresight that things can get very much worse.

Well, how about you post some facts that contradict the BBC article?

I don’t think you have, mate.

Sorry to confuse you with facts. I suggest you do your own research if you don't believe me. There is far less violent crime than there was 50-60 years ago. It's reported more because of social media & 24 hour news channels but the actual incidence of crime is way down.

The violence and stabbings is on the rise in this country.

This isn't true. Violent crime has decreased by 80% over the last 30 years. People have a misconception that crime is on the increase because politicians & social media whip up a frenzy of lies about crime.

The violence and stabbings is on the rise in this country. But we don’t have more Police, we don’t have a sterner Justice system. So mentally unstable people can terrorise and threaten sane people. And sane people stay quiet for fear for their lives.

so here, is happening. The lunatics are taking over the asylum.

fragmentation of sanity on a wide scale.

the stabby side of history GrinI might use that in my reply.
I'm not sure how to reply, actually. I don't really want to get into a trans argument with her (pigs and mud-wrestling and all that).

WrongKindOfFeminist · 18/08/2026 12:30

Reflex genuflection to the gender catechism, just to cover all bases, and in case anyone accuses them of being phobic for not supporting the stabby side of history.

AlwaysExtraHot · 18/08/2026 12:26

Got a reply from ZG to my email about what on earth they were doing at the Hackney protest:

'Thank you for your email regarding the protest outside Hackney Town hall, in which an effigy of Andy Burnham was stabbed. I apologise for the delay in responding.

I want to assure you that the Green Party, including Hackney Green Councillors, do not condone this stunt that used violent symbolism. They were not aware the stunt was planned and had left the protest before it took place.

I understand the circumstances under which this protest happened were upsetting and potentially unsettling, especially given the recent murder of Anne Widdicombe and the previous murders of Jo Cox and Sir David Amess.

Green Councillors were at the event to stand in solidarity with the trans community, something other political parties no longer seem willing or able to do. Greens reject attempts to segregate trans people from public life, and are proud to always stand with the trans community as they continue to be attacked by politicians and the media alike.

Best wishes

Zoë'

I think it's a bit convenient that they 'had left the protest before [the stabbings] took place'.

And why the fuck does she put that last para in? She has no idea what my stance is (I said nothing about trans people one way or the other). It just seems like a swipe for the sake of it. 'Greens reject attempts to segregate trans people from public life'; WTF?

Compare and contrast it with the paratroopers, who were disciplined, for using pictures of Corbyn, for target practice:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-48868071

That was inappropriate workplace conduct handled as a disciplinary matter, which is not comparable to criminalisation.

I've stopped giving these people any quarter. The entire ideology is a toxic cult with a physically violent wing which in my opinion should be treated accordingly.

I no longer give it much thought but I have been evolving my opinion generally on how we as a society prioritise resources and attention. My "peaking" journey used to be something like, trans people aren't actually the most marginalised people and we should give attention/priority to others who are more marginalised, such as women in prisons.

My thinking is shifting to something like: "being marginalised/vulnerable" shouldn't be a criterion for priority at all. Society should organise itself around people who are able to fit into it competently, because then it will select for people who are able to do that.

We can't say for years that "vulnerability/marginalisation" gets you sympathy and not expect to have people create spiralling narratives of increasing danger to themselves, trans genocide blah blah, that lead to this kind of openly violent reaction because they've been conditioned to genuinely believe they're in physical danger justifying an even more violent response.

Society should organise itself around people who are able to fit into it competently, because then it will select for people who are able to do that.

We did that for a long time. It wasn't good at all for disabled people. I'll remind you that you and anyone else can become disabled at any time.

@Fgfgfg

I wonder where else on the political spectrum TRAs should be attributed to. The typical outfit is as a liberal member of the green party, the far-left political party of the UK. I wouldn't call communists liberals, or the extreme left as we see it, like capitalism and socialism they seem more as an economic model linked to politics.

Fgfgfg · 21/07/2026 16:07

ElizaMulvil · 14/07/2026 11:25

The 'far Left' doesn't believe men can be women btw, ( or vice versa) cf the Communist Party of Britain who definitely don't.

It makes me angry when so many critics make simplistic statements about trans rights being a far left cause when most people (on both sides) don't know the first thing about far left politics. You can support the rights of women and be a lefty; they're not mutually exclusive. 😡

I haven’t seen an actual ephigy at GFN in over a decade tbf

You haven’t been to Lewes, or Northern Ireland then. Current politicians are always a favourite, along with traditional effigies like the pope.

Was the minute of silence whilst they watched the others acting out their deepest fantasies and getting all stabby, by any chance? Just a few moments where they try to think of how they can rationalise away how much these people enjoyed simulating murder? Or were they just thinking 'Oh, I'd really love to be doing that as well but it might prove a little awkward later'?

Excellent points.

I honestly doubt from those pictures that anything was going on below sheer light hearted vibes. None of this occured.

It's one of the most disturbing parts.

Come to NI, there’s been lots of it the past few nights (decades) and nobody does jack shit!

Ah but it's Tradition.
I live in Ne Scotland and there's going to be an o/march in a small coastal town called Stone haven.

This bigotry is an alien concept in the Ne and most of the marchers are bussed in.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/07/2026 20:06

And a lot of people are thinking in terms of the first group (it’s such an effort and an ordeal, they wouldn’t do it if they weren’t sincere about feeling like a woman, being kind is virtuous and costs nothing)

Daleksatemyshed · 14/07/2026 20:03

Much of the problem starts from once upon a time being trans was very rare, to be trans you had to be pretty committed as you were pretty much standing alone and they tended to go the whole hog, full surgery to be as close to a woman as possible. Modern trans seems to range from traditional trans to men who say they're TW but really make very little effort to actually look like they've transitioned, they're the group who seem to feel most aggrieved when not accepted and the loudest at every protest.
