We get it, Martin. You are very clever and artistic, and seem to have enough time to write a far-too-long entry about yourself. Have a sticker (but not one with a shark on).

Sadly, I have seen very troubled, very polite people heavily influenced by others who encourage them to feel victimised, for example by telling them that "misgendering" is hatred, that mentioning their actual sex is "dehumanising", that people struggling with the total upheaval of their worldview is "transphobia" and "bigotry" ... and I could go on. If trans people want their family and friends to understand them, they need to be open to talking about how they feel, they need to be supported to accept that other people also have feelings and struggles, and they need to understand that those who have supported and advocated for them throughout their lives do not suddenly turn into "monsters" when they are told that their much-loved daughter (for example) is 'really' a man and cannot just accept that because people shout that this is true.

If someone takes the post-modern line that their truth is valid, it is hypocritical to deny the validity of their father's. mother's, sibling's, wife's or child's truth. Personally, I have problems with the concept of "my truth" when it clashes with empirical evidence, such as evidence of someone's reproductive role.

Well I think that we've come out of this extremely well; demonstrably a bunch of articulate, funny, smart, well-informed, opinionated women who are more than capable of taking on/down such ridiculous twattery.

Now I have an earworm of The Automatic:

Maybe all these groups are trying to get the trans people to abandon them, rather than getting grief from running away from the issue themselves. The cases aren't winning, so shifting focus would be sensible, but they don't want the grief from actively binning them.

Possibly too devious a strategy though.

Am I being foolishly optimistic to think that, as Jolyon has so badly blotted his copybook with the trans community, the GLP might find its grifting in this area to be increasingly unprofitable in future, and so might stop with the pointless and desperate lawfare, already? Listen, don’t tell anyone, but I have it on good authority, well a wild , very wild, grrrrr, rumour, that there could be some prime positioned bill board spaces available at short notice for a very reasonable cost if you wanted to crowd fund a project to test the waters.

There is also a community of witty and clever women who could whip up a smart campaign for almost no payment apart from a trailer full of Tunnocks. They may not be internationally unknown artists but at least they won’t make you a laughing stock across almost every single social media platform.

Angry? I LOVE monsters and I was a big fan of this campaign.
