A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK says Amnesty who claim over 50% are Gender Critical groups

Quote:

Anti-rights actors seek a society in which women and men have fixed and distinct roles, based on what they view as ‘natural’ and ‘traditional’. These actors perceive the idea that gender is socially constructed as a threat because it suggests that gender roles can, and do, change across societies and over time. In fact, progress in the rights of women and LGBT+ people has been underpinned by changing understandings of gender and social roles.

Anti-rights actors refer to this perceived threat as ‘gender ideology’, portraying it as an attack on national traditions, family structures, marriage and religious freedom. These narratives often seek to generate fear and uncertainty and rely on misinformation or exaggerated claims.

The term ‘gender ideology’ emerged in the context of debates within international institutions, particularly the United Nations, about gender equality and sexual and reproductive rights.

In 1964, the Holy See became a Permanent Observer at the UN General Assembly, the only religious body with this status. As a permanent observer the Holy See can participate in processes at the General Assembly as well as other UN bodies. It cannot vote but it has the possibility to co-sponsor resolutions if a member state requests a vote. Although it cannot vote, the Holy See can participate in UN discussions and processes and has played an influential role in debates on women's rights and LGBT+ rights.

The term ‘gender ideology’ gained prominence in response to progress on gender equality and Cairo in 1994. These conference were a landmark moment for the global women's rights movement. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is widely regarded as a key international framework for advancing women's rights and gender equality, and states continue to report on its implementation through the Commission on the Status of Women.

While opposition to sexual and reproductive rights predates the Beijing conference, the term ‘gender ideology’ became a particularly important response to the advances achieved there. The phrase was coined to explain the growing influence of gender equality agendas and to mobilise opposition to them.

Although the term originated in debates at the international level, it has since become a broad political narrative used by a wide range of anti-rights actors. Today, it is often used to connect campaigns against gender equality, sexual and reproductive rights, and LGBT+ rights across different countries and contexts.

You're sure about that?

You're sure about that?

She looks & sounds like a woman in the video I posted earlier. I doubt that any laryngeal surgery or vocal coaching could give a man a female voice like that.

BTW The video is worth a watch to hear her paranoid ramblings about far right funding of anti-rights organisations.

But she would presumably take them to tribunal for unfair dismissal, claiming that they knew and approved of what she was doing. That would be an interesting tribunal!

It really would. I imagine she might win.

Is it really true that AI have not included any Islamic organisation on their list, because if they haven't, then that really shows their obvious political bias. I say this as someone who has been married to my Iranian wife for thirty five years.

AFAIK, without checking, it’s true. The bias is extremely overt.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/07/2026 12:31

Unless people have got some evidence that she’s a man, it’s not particularly helpful. Having heard her speak, I think it’s highly unlikely. There are plenty of women absolutely beclowning themselves and selling themselves and other women out for this ideology, all over the world.

lcakethereforeIam · 28/07/2026 12:10

Perhaps it's an attempt at a golden bridge. It would be good if AI repudiated all the gender nonsense. I can't see it though. It's probably more like something akin to morbid curiosity. What on earth are they going to say to try to mitigate what they've done?

I think we may be heading towards a "fire Chiara Capraro and this will all go away" moment from Amnesty. I doubt that would satisfy any of the charities named in the smear campaign.

AI is 'extending an olive branch'?
AI needs to bloody grovel!

I'd have told them to stuff it. They've refused to meet them in the past. This is basically just a 'we desperately don't want to end up in court' move. Fuck 'em.

When the activists are more dangerous than the law...

This is a common thing though isn't it? Part of the confusing muddle of fear and arrogance that keeps turning up in court when such situations are unpacked in public. Is it groups of the superior evolved beings sadly saying in their closed circle that it's worth suffering in the name of righteousness while singing the sun will come out tomorrow? Or is it that it's better to deal with women and court cases and costs than a very difficult member of staff (or group) kicking off, in the way of many safeguarding disasters where the management of very difficult personalities has wrongly now taken up everyone's time and focus to the detriment of the basic core brief? It's probably some of both.

This is a group that were convinced that they were more advanced and superior to the law and the law makers, and that they would therefore do their wonderful superior practice (imposing it upon everyone else, in the exact style of the colonialist tradition) and the law would be forced to 'catch up'.

The govt and parliament sat with their thumbs inserted and did absolutely nothing about this, despite repeated attempts to raise this with them.

Now I suppose that the law has been confirmed and it's clear that all this is not legal, and no, the law won't just quietly bend the knee, we're onto the next stage which is just to ignore it and see if there are any actual consequences.

But the govt will need to figure out that if they choose to model that the law is just something on paper when convenient, and a matter of individual choice when convenient, and there's no real consequences for breaking it - then they cannot be surprised when the general public follow their example, in much less politically convenient ways.

Can’t they? They can fire any employee for misconduct that brings the organisation into disrepute. The fact that the individual may have a PC should be irrelevant.

Unless the organisation leadership is pusillanimous.

Or unless the revelations are effectively whistleblowing.

Nah, you’re right.

Wishesandhorses · 28/07/2026 10:50

They need to borrow the Impact Assessment (and all associated minutes, memos, emails etc) eating dog owned by the Welsh govt.

Good grief.

At this point, they less need an 'olive branch' than a white flag.

Shedmistress · 28/07/2026 09:57

They CAN'T fire a trans person though. They really are in a pickle.

Amnesty are currently looking for space to put a shredder big enough to get rid of all the incriminating material. I hear they're looking at Yorkshire..

lcakethereforeIam · 28/07/2026 10:31

I'm glad the Snowball report is being mentioned and Chiara's mouthing off willy-nilly. So much language, being used all over the shop.

"we will seek all documentation held by Amnesty"

I hear the sound of a space being cleared for a magnificent exercise in bundle management. I hope they've readied an extra large folder for the 'mysteriously absent from disclosures' list.

'Use of language' weaseling is only fine if it's a line or perhaps a couple of lines of wording which may be misinterpreted.

When you have a whole fucking report saying these organisations are a threat to human rights and actions should be taken against them, that not a problem with the use of language. The intention and aim is very deliberate and not arguable. Especially given the degree of harm to the organisations targeted.

I'm sorry but that response is just plain insulting.

Exactly. I mean, there's a sodding table. Whether it's headed 'anti-trans', 'counter revolutionaries', 'unpersons', or 'big meanies' is neither here nor there. The intent is plain regardless of how much of the thesaurus they dig through trying to find 'more suitable' words.

Getting worse for Amnesty. Another development.

https://nitter.net/ForWomenScot

We have also received evidence that Chiara Capraro presented to funders and foundations on the 'anti rights movement in the UK' at the Shoreditch Arts Club on the 8th July.

Of course we are focusing on the fact that Amnesty are being sexist, but the fact they are anti Christian bigots is also a huge issue having impact.

The Catholic Church is livid.

Amnesty International UK apologizes for calling Christian groups ‘anti-rights’

“The Catholic Church works to uphold the God-given rights of all humanity, without exception,” the CBCEW said in a statement shared with EWTN News. “This includes the rights of those unjustly imprisoned, of refugees and migrants, of those who have been trafficked, and the right to life of all people from conception to natural death.”

“Furthermore,” the statement continued, “we uphold the right to freedom of religion, conscience, and expression as explained in the document of the Second Vatican Council Dignitatis Humanae. Our belief in the dignity of every person, from which a proper understanding of human rights comes, animates all our work in the field of social justice in England and Wales.”

Amnesty International Withdraws ‘Anti-Rights’ Report Accused of Anti-Christian Bias

Responding to the withdrawal, Christian Concern’s head of public policy, Tim Dieppe, said it was “absurd” that an organization dedicated to defending human rights would target Christian groups that advocate for religious freedom.

Dieppe argued that Amnesty’s handling of the report reflected growing anti-Christian prejudice.

“It is also astonishing that not one Islamic organization was named in this report as anti-rights. Yet dozens of Christian organizations were singled out. In fact, so many Christian organizations are listed that it appears they went out of their way to name as many Christian organizations as they could think of. All this shows is that Amnesty has now become anti-Christian,” he said.

Dieppe also warned that the report went beyond criticizing Christian organizations by calling for regulatory scrutiny. He noted that Amnesty urged the Charity Commission to review the charitable status of the organizations named in the report.

“The multiple successes in our cases relating to Christian freedoms and right to life show that Christian Concern, far from being ‘anti-rights’ is actually very much on the right side of rights. Truth is on our side. It is Amnesty that is now anti-rights,” Dieppe said.

It is ridiculous they are attacking Christianity when ignoring Islam, not to mention other religions do awful stuff too.

Shedmistress · 28/07/2026 09:10

I do like 'lets have a full public apology to everyone including your own staff who know biological sex is a fact, and if not, we'll take all that internal discussion in disclosure before we go to court, thanks in advance'.
