Wow! just Wow! When you read how persistent, diligent and just downright correct Stephen Twist was and yet the NHS sailed blithely on in a complete state of denial, convinced they were on the right side of history.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but the fact the Trust even now when they've lost and received criticism from the judge, are still not mending bridges but being as antagonistic as possible, means the NHS is the enemy.
Yes, the NHS, our preeminent national institution, is the enemy, not just of women, but their own female staff, is the enemy.
That's now the reality, the NHS will.look past the rights and comfort of women.

I agree. Both organisations do have to deal with the complaints made, and they shouldn't be able to opt out of that. But it can and should involve prompt resolution. The tribunal decision was months ago, so they've had ample time to tell Rose to do one.

It wasn't that long ago the NMC itself was found to have its own " deep seated toxic culture" , the report makes you wonder how it can investigate any nurse

I think there are two separate outstanding issues.

The Darlington NHS issue is that Rose raised a grievance about the nurses who signed the letter of complaint about him, and that grievance was put on hold pending the outcome of the tribunal. The employer must complete that grievance investigation process (but they shouldn't have dragged their feet once the tribunal decision was published).

The NMC complaints were made not by NHS body, but by members of the public following the 4 nurses TV appearance. I think at least one tabloid described it as an investigation into 26 nurses, but it's not, Christian Concern have confirmed it is just the 4 who were on TV.Again, NMC must complete at least the preliminary investigation, but really shouldn't be taking this long.

I saw this and put a link on the SEEN thread and the most recent Darlo Nurses thread. They had no choice but to blow the whistle to the press, because they were given the bum's rush by management.

It's simply spiteful to threaten this now, in a fit of pique from the losers in charge. They ought to be sacked, but instead, they are having a campaign of abuse.

The NMC should protect them, not beat them up.

Oh! I just read a couple of reports that said the 4 nurses reported to NMC were the four in the TV appearance. In that case the incident, and the tribunal commentary on it, are in the public domain and there can be no good reason for further delay? WTF?!

The NMC is a disgrace. It does not exist to protect nurses - that's not what it is for.

It exists to protect the public apparently - and they believe that nurses asking for basic dignity is a threat somehow - it's the saying No to men that they really don't like.

The NMC will go after them but no investigation into the nurses that have worked in gender clinics.

The process is the punishment - they haven’t got truth, the moral high ground or the law on their side so they use what they have left to punish these nurses. It’s disgusting.

The NMC do not support nurses imo.
I remember, years ago (90s?), a nurse whistle blew terrible practice (I can't remember if it was elderly care or learning difficulty, certainly the patient group was vulnerable), after she had tried to get management to take notice but got nowhere. She ended up feeling she had no alternative but to whistle blow to the media and Panorama, or some similar programme, investigated, lots of bad stuff came out. It was a scandal at the time and would have not been unearthed if not for the nurse.
The NMC then struck the nurse off for some spurious reason: bringing nursing into disrepute or not following procedure or something.
There was an outcry from the general public, and I think the NMC may have bowed to pressure to reinstate her but I cannot swear to it, and if I was her I would have told them to stick it up their arse.
NMC is less concerned about the right and wrong of a situation, more about how it looks, to me.
So I am not surprised they are going for the Darlington nurses, the process takes a long time and this will be hanging over the nurses who have already been through so much. Bastards.

Rose made the grievance a long time ago, and it was put on hold pending the tribunal. But the tribunal decision was published 14 Jan, so Darlington is well out of time on concluding that process.

The NMC complaints were made by members of the public, I think, and NMC has also had 6 months since tribunal decision to conclude any investigation.

What a shower of shite all round.
