I somewhat agree with this, although if you aren't being recruited, being on a team helps because it shows dedication. Any good extracurricular activity will do that. So if you get cut, find another activity to show that you're involved with your school or community. A charity is always impressive, if someone is interested in that.
Seriously - go find a charity??? If you get "cut" (don't you mean replaced by a boy) then find something else to do??? Why doesn't HE find something else to do. Why don't the boys trying out for the girls' teams "find a charity".
I'm not sure when you last went through a college application process but most kids volunteer (many high schools have it as a requirement for graduation - all three of mine at 3 different schools couldn't graduate without minimum volunteer hours), are members of clubs, part of debate or model UN or feminist alliance or school newpaper or drama club or their local church or whatever as well as playing sports.
Yeah, thekeatingfive, it does prove your point - but it also shows that what people profess and what they actually think are in some cases different and there are some politicians not afraid to call it out. And when they do, the average joe voter is with them. I have some hope - that's all.
