David Tennant seemingly hates women

Just seen David Tennant on The Assembly. Might be a repeat not sure. Flabbergasted that in response to a question about supporting transwomen in women’s spaces he said people need to ‘stop the hatred’, step aside and ‘let people just be.’ (Imagine that being said in his over the top faux ‘man of the people’ manner.)

He was then asked a question about making Good Omen’s 3 when Neil Gaiman has been ‘cancelled’ due to the light issues of being accused of Sex trafficking and rape of women. Here, he simply said he couldn’t ’leave people on a cliffhanger’ and moved on.

So, he’s happy to literally line the pockets of (very alleged) male rapists whilst at the same time arguing women not letting men in their spaces is hatred.

Fuck David Tennant.

All males are potential predators and sexual deviants. 99% of sexual assaults and more than 80% of violent offences are carried out by males. That risk does not change if somebody has an internal sense they are not the sex they actually are.

By this logic all lesbians are potential domestic violence abusers given their propensity for DV abuse as are all muslims potential terrorists, mothers potential child abusers, male teachers, male bosses, priests etc etc.

Are you suggesting all members of potential risk groups be restricted of access or just the ones you don't like?

Gosh. Howse that work again?

I believe this is one of multiple threads people have pointed out the flaws in this argument. Yet you keep making it.

The issue is one of legitimate and illegitimate discrimination.

It is legitimate to discuss segregating single sex provisions based on sex categories of humans. It is not legitimate to segregate publicly accessible single sex provisions based on sexual orientation or religion.

Because while harm to female people for the purpose of excluding all male people above about 8 yrs old, do include physical harm, it also includes other harms as well.

There will always be some categories in the population that will have a small increased % of harm to the same sex of human using a single sex provision that they have the right to use based on their sex. The risk is not as great overall as allowing male people of any gender identity to use female single sex provisions.

Your argument is as flawed now as it was months ago.

Tennant did not say that "feminists like Kemi shouldn't exist any more". He said that "acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be... should be common sense" - which is surely correct - and his remarks about Badenoch not existing had nothing to do with her being a feminist (and she obviously isn't). They were made in the context of her denying people's right to be who they want to be, which, goodness knows, she does in a number of contexts, not just the trans one. Essentially he wants to live in a world where people don't have those views. He is certainly not advocating for mass extermination of bigots.

As for suggesting that he is criticising Badenoch because she is a feminist, how would you square that with her view that maternity pay is taking from one group of people and giving to another and is excessive, and her wish to scrap the Public Sector Equallity Duty?

Instructions · 25/06/2026 18:28

The whole trans thing is a gift to misogynists who wants to pretend they don't hate women, isn't it? Now they can criticise, abuse, threaten and demean women at will- all they have to do is say they are protecting "the dolls", aka known as men who roleplay as women.

Wasn't Gaiman cleared?

He wasn't cleared. The judge ruled that the victim would have to take the case to court in New Zealand (where she no longer lived). So very much NOT cleared.

He said females including rape survivors like me don't deserve female only spaces.

That vulnerable women and girls are 'whingy little fuckers'.

That feminists like Kemi should no longer exist any more.

His hatred of women seeps out of every single pore.

Mmm, I think you're putting a particular spin on what he said to suit your narrative. And I say that as a gc woman whose not a particular fan of his (although I do think he plays Crowley well).

TheignT · 25/06/2026 18:11

99bottlesofkombucha · 25/06/2026 07:44

Wow. Umm, what is your point here? What do you mean by your question? singling her out to say she needs to not exist IS treating her differently, and it’s not coincidence she’s a woman and black. Are you saying she needs to be threatened like that? (Nobody needs to be threatened like that.) Are you suggesting he threatens all the other pollies like that? (He doesn’t) are you suggesting he should threaten them all? (No, he shouldn’t)

Has he said she shouldn't exist because she's black? Haven't seen that. Has he said she shouldn't exist because she's a woman? Haven't seen that.

I'm a white woman and I shouldn't be threatened. My husband is a black man and he shouldn't be threatened. My daughter is a mixed race woman and she shouldn't be threatened. In fact no one should be threatened, although the quote of what he said doesn't sound like a threat to me. I don't see that her being black and a woman makes it any better or worse than if it was made to any of us unless she is claiming it was a hate crime in which case she should go to the police with her evidence.

I know exactly what he said, and how you're misrepresenting it. He at no point said he hated women and I have seen no comment from him on spaces for women.

We have no safe spaces anyway, and there is virtually no justice for those of us (me included) who survived male violence. I was just reading how a young man was acquitted of killing a young girl despite stabbing her - once again, men can do what they want to us, without consequence.

I am sorry for all you've been through and hope you did get justice.

Tennant stood up for his kid, and the people who attack his child. He is angry that trans children suffer so much violence and hatred. That is not hating women.

Supporting your nb trans child is not misogyny.

Yeah exactly.

I mean, there's no ambiguity here at all.

He's a misogynistic arsehole.

SidewaysOtter · 25/06/2026 15:14

Oh, and on DT as Crowley, he was exactly how I imagined Crowley. Not sinister, but a swaggering feline character with a dark side. I thought he captured that perfectly.

David Tennant is 55

Kemi B is 46 so younger, JKR is 60, so only 5 years older than him. Maya Forstater is 52, so younger. Helen Joyce is 58 so only 3 years older. If these women are old and irrelevant his views are too, aren’t they?

Standard misogyny. Men's opinions become more worthy of consideration with age, because age connotes wisdom (in men).

Women's opinions become less worthy of consideration with age because age connotes irrelevance (in women).

SidewaysOtter · 25/06/2026 15:13

quantumbutterfly · 25/06/2026 13:35

Agree.
I watched 2nd & 3rd of Good Omens, they would have been far better with Terry Pratchett input, as would the 1st series, he is sorely missed.
After enjoying the Stardust film I tried to read Gaiman's book & was disappointed so I suspect TP is the reason the Good Omens book was so 'good'.

My usual sidetrack...as a teen I would have enjoyed seeing the Dragonsinger books brought to life on film but adaptions so often fall short. The Harry Potter films deviate a little from the books but are so visually stunning. Excellent casting too, which helps (including Tennant 😶), though so many of the actors in it are no longer with us.

The stark difference between the original GO and the 2nd/3rd series really showed how much Pratchett's genius was behind it. I've never read any Gaiman (other than Norse Gods, which I really enjoyed) but I love the Discworld and Pratchett had such an enormous talent for finding the brilliant ridiculousness of things.

I did like the 'angels through the ages' insert in the Amazon adaptation though, I thought that was very clever. Unless that was based on material that didn't make the book, that can't have had Terry's input.

The HP films were brilliantly done (and DT was good in that too) but it must have been hard to condense them down into a 2 hour-or-so film - too hard for the last book, which became two films. V much looking forward to the HBO series!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/06/2026 09:54

Where do you think he meant they’d go?

To me it's pretty clear what he meant by that. The "TERFS will all die put soon anyway" rhetoric is pretty standard TRA stuff. When they aren't threatening to hasten our ends anyway

ElenOfTheWays · 25/06/2026 14:49

RosieHosie · 25/06/2026 08:51

I couldn't even read the book. Only got to 50 pages and gave up. Turned me into a zombie every time I tried to read it.
Can't stand David Tennant.

I liked the book and even quite enjoyed the adaptation although I still think Aiden Turner would have made a much better Crowley than Tennant who was too old and just doesn't pull off "sinister" very well.

Grammarnut · 25/06/2026 14:45

Redcliffe1 · 25/06/2026 00:57

I think it’s unfair to twist his words like this. Saying 'let people just be' is an appeal for basic human kindness and reducing hostility, not an attack on women. As for Good Omens, he's an actor under contract finishing a massive project that an entire cast and crew depend on for work—not to mention the millions of fans waiting for a resolution to the story. Equating contractual obligation to actively supporting alleged behavior is a massive, unfair leap

Read the book.
And women deserve decent human kindness and an understanding why they don't want men - and mentally ill men in frocks are still men, see the law - in their spaces. Tennant's a mysogynist twit.

Shedmistress · 25/06/2026 08:31

His child, isn't likely to be rendered infertile because there is no way Tennant is going to allow that. He is seeing a fad and instead of saying 'don't be stupid' puts not only other children at risk by celebrating this fad, but women and children at risk by calling them 'whingeing little fuckers' if they want their legal rights to single sex spaces.

Tennant can fuck right off.

He's not even a "true believer" as evidenced by his constant insistence that it's his WIFE who is behind all his rhetoric on this subject. SHE taught him all about it apparently.

He's giving her "credit" now with an eye to shifting the blame when the wheels inevitably come off. Because he knows that day is coming for him.
We see you Tennant.

you will hate everyone if you apply such ridiculous high criteria for acceptance

He's the poster boy for Wokey Blokies, they despise women, our function is to hang on their every word, laugh at their every joke, then go away and do some womanly thing and leave the men get on with the important things. 🤢
He's also rubbish actor, he has one persona that just switches between English and Scottish accents, which he uses for every role.

Interspersed with chewing the scenery and gurning maniacally

TheignT · 25/06/2026 07:26

So she needs to be treated differently because she's female and black?

That's the stupidest remark I've read on here for a while, and there's some pretty stiff competition.

ElenOfTheWays · 25/06/2026 14:04

Limoncellospritzz · 25/06/2026 05:13

Let's not pretend that's all they say when its all neatly wrapped in dehumanising & demonising rhetoric.

You mean saying things like: "you're a man" or 'humans can't change sex" or even "use the gents"? Stuff like that?
Men are actually far more likely to say nasty and "dehumanising" things about trans identified men but DT has nothing to say about them for some reason. Very odd. What COULD be the reason for that?

MinnieCauldwell · 25/06/2026 13:52

He doesn't get it because his daughters, should they need to go to hospital will be in a private ward, no biological men in the next bed. Highly unlikely his daughters will need a refuge or women only homeless shelter. Highly unlikely his daughters will go to prison. Luvvies like Tennant just don't recognise their own privilege.

He really does just have the one note, with accents. Such a predictable screen presence.

Has he wished oblivion on any males?

As an actor, Tennant is brilliant. He was absolutely perfect as Crowley in GO and he's been extremely good in everything I've seen him in, including as Tony Baddingham in Rivals. I try very hard to separate the art from the artist there.

But his attitude towards women's rights sucks. I guess it's an unfortunate combination of having a trans/NB child, being in luvvie circles where progressivism is the order of the day (and certainly gets lauded), and this just not being something that applies to him. A lot of men can't understand why women mind so vociferously, because it's outside of their sphere of experience. Even when you explain, a lot just don't get that life can be very different for women as it is for men.

I've never met him, maybe he's just an arse. Still a good actor, mind. (As an aside, I watched the third 'series' (well, episode) of GO with trepidation as I'd heard it wasn't that good. The storyline was weak but Azeraphele and Crowley were as good as ever and I was touched by the ending.)

Agree.

With regard to the OP and Tennant, if those comments were all he’d ever said, he might deserve the benefit of doubt. As it is, the “Whinging little fuckers,” statement leaves no room for doubt at all. That is a comment from someone who despises women like those here. It would be hard to come up with a more disdainful form of name calling, in a world where name calling is, in itself, an offensive and weak action for anyone.

Agreed.completely.

As an aside, every time I read that a celebrity or person with a significant media presence has expressed a hope-slash-conviction that us objecting and objectionable women will die soon, I google that individual's age.

Without fail, they're always 15-30 years older than me. Dave included. Odd.
