Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

David Tennant seemingly hates women

Just seen David Tennant on The Assembly. Might be a repeat not sure. Flabbergasted that in response to a question about supporting transwomen in women’s spaces he said people need to ‘stop the hatred’, step aside and ‘let people just be.’ (Imagine that being said in his over the top faux ‘man of the people’ manner.)

He was then asked a question about making Good Omen’s 3 when Neil Gaiman has been ‘cancelled’ due to the light issues of being accused of Sex trafficking and rape of women. Here, he simply said he couldn’t ’leave people on a cliffhanger’ and moved on.

So, he’s happy to literally line the pockets of (very alleged) male rapists whilst at the same time arguing women not letting men in their spaces is hatred.

Fuck David Tennant.

Can I identify as David Tennant, and recant all his gender-woo nonsense, please?

I identify as a fit healthy 25 year old millionaire.

<waits for the magic to happen>

Oh, same! I mean, being a fit healthy 25 year old millionaire is certainly better than being a fat sick 50 year old middle-class person, so it's only common sense to identify as the former rather than the latter, right?

DramaAndBullshit · 26/06/2026 10:33

Seethlaw · 26/06/2026 06:20

He said that "acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be... should be common sense" - which is surely correct

Woof! There's no way at all this is gonna go wrong. Let's see...

  • "I identify as a thief."
  • "I identify as an embezzler."
  • "I identify as a corrupt politician."
  • "I identify as an incompetent professional."
  • "I identify as a pedophile."
  • "I identify as a murderer."
Surely no one would ever utter those words (or equivalent statements) if they were told that they would get support for it, right?

Essentially he wants to live in a world where people don't have those views.

Definition of "bigot" according to Merriam-Webster:

a narrow-minded person who obstinately adheres to their own opinions and prejudices
especially : one who strongly and unfairly dislikes or feels hatred toward others based on their group membership

Not exactly. The lawsuit was dismissed with the judge saying it was the wrong jurisdiction and it ought to take place in New Zealand
He cannot be "cleared" as there were no criminal charges.
Most people seem to think he's guilty though as other incidents have been revealed since.

He's one of the "men can do what they like, women must do what men tell them" brobrigade

Wishesandhorses · 26/06/2026 08:49

Try telling him you identify as someone who wants and needs sex based rights, single sex spaces, and understands that sex is immutable, and watch that 'everyone' suddenly get exposed for the lie it is.

Tennant did not say that "feminists like Kemi shouldn't exist any more". He said that "acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be... should be common sense" - which is surely correct - and his remarks about Badenoch not existing had nothing to do with her being a feminist (and she obviously isn't). They were made in the context of her denying people's right to be who they want to be, which, goodness knows, she does in a number of contexts, not just the trans one. Essentially he wants to live in a world where people don't have those views. He is certainly not advocating for mass extermination of bigots.

As for suggesting that he is criticising Badenoch because she is a feminist, how would you square that with her view that maternity pay is taking from one group of people and giving to another and is excessive, and her wish to scrap the Public Sector Equallity Duty?

He is just a man who pretends to be other men for a living. Why actors' opinions are sought about anything other than their craft I really don't know. Who cares what they think. Just put on a good show, bank the money and fuck off.

In truth he always "acts" as a shouty impotent old twerp, so not really acting is he

I dont think DT is a good actor. He is shouty.

I think in Rivals he is too much pantomime villian.

In Dr Who, he was great at promoting the show...but acting ....hmm...

I agree he’s too pantomimey as Tony B but I’m still enjoying it. I’ve seen him play malevolent parts quite well. Dr Who leaves me cold whoever it is.

Lol since when has being convinced you're right been a problem? Certainly isn't on this board.

Because he is wrong! 😂

Me neither. It’s the kind of thing a weapons-grade narcissist would think he was entitled to.

Yep, Willoughby is another one. Literally same age as JK Rowling, as well as old enough to be my father, and yet I've seen him tweet to tell JK that her age makes her irrelevant.

Does he identify as trans-age, too?

Genuinely wouldn't surprise me.

TheKeatingFive · 25/06/2026 20:49

leshirondelles · 25/06/2026 19:43

Both he and his wife are vile. He’s an insufferable idiot who is not as good an actor as he thinks, and she’s a talentless nepo baby who has jumped on the trans band wagon with a manic fervour as she sees it gains her woke points.

His wife strikes me as the type who will do anything for attention

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 25/06/2026 20:49

Waitwhat23 · 25/06/2026 20:38

It's like when that aching bawsack Willoughby talks about the 'old biddy mafia' or some such shite when referring to women who believe in women's rights. He's the best part of twenty years older than me.

(Fucks sake. Edited for spelling)

Why anyone gives a shit what they think, I'll never know

Agreed.completely.

As an aside, every time I read that a celebrity or person with a significant media presence has expressed a hope-slash-conviction that us objecting and objectionable women will die soon, I google that individual's age.

Without fail, they're always 15-30 years older than me. Dave included. Odd.

Totally agree!

Actors pretend for a living, hopefully they realise who they really are when the show's over.

Everyone is who they are.

It is important to make a distinction between a statement that everyone is who they ‘are’, when this reflects material reality (which is true) vs that everyone is who they say they are when this doesn’t reflect material reality and only their subjective reality or their aspirations (which is only accurate in reflecting what they believe they are or wish to be).

Indeed. There was a chap who thought he was Jesus who made the news recently. I'd like to believe Jesus wouldn't have opened fire on secret servicemen guarding The White House but people interpret scripture dangerously subjectively sometimes.

Nice try at white washing the broad smears targeted at trans women as being only about risk factors for single spaces when we both know the dehumanising mocking applies regardless.

MN, X & Facebook are cess pools of ridicule & degradation of transpeople period that exists irrespective of single sex spaces.

What you are asking for is that we give the men who are trans women special access that the men who are not trans women don't get.

What I'm saying is you lack consistency in applying your risk principle as mentioned upthread.

Are all trans women deluded? I don't know. But 100% certainly all trans women are sexist, because the belief that the fundamental and defining difference between men and women is that our minds are different, and all the shit that happened and happens to female people because of our physical sex isn't relevant to being a women or to the existence of women's spaces and women's rights is sexist as fuck.

The idea that only the body & not the mind would have evolved with a reproductive function is scientifically illiterate. Yes, men & women overlap psychologically but also vary.

“The idea that only the body & not the mind would have evolved with a reproductive function is scientifically illiterate. Yes, men & women overlap psychologically but also vary.”

It is irrelevant that there an overlap between male and female psychologically. There are very few people who put any credibility into male and female psychology being in anyway a reliable category definition for access to female single sex provisions or language and they cannot provide a reliable boundary for that definition in any meaningful way.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 25/06/2026 19:33

DT is cut from the same ilk as the fox botherer. They're perfectly prepared to burn the world to the ground rather than say to their child that 'no they can't change sex but they're perfect as they are anyway'

he gets a massive metaphorical boner from the adulation of the RSOH crowd and is far too dim and privileged to consider the experiences of anyone beyond his little world

WTF? No, it's asinine. A moment's thought can surely show you ple ty of examples where who someone wants to be is either impossible or unreasonable in its impact on others.

Everyone is who they are.

They have the right to live the best life they can subject to the laws and rights of other people, and ideally subject to being a decent human being. That includes, within the same boundaries, the right to try to change bits of themselves, lifestyle, physically or mentally, that they do not like.

But they absolutely do not have the right to have "who they want to be" taken by others as if it were actually who they are.
