Guardian: weaponised emotional blackmail from 14yo 'trans' athlete

The Guardian's rearguard action on reality continues. Apparently the problem is not the parents and authorities who conspired to lie to this boy, coddle his delusions, disadvantage all girls around him in the service of his own wishful thinking etc etc etc: it's definitely the people who pointed it out:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jun/17/trans-athlete-no-one-should-face-vicious-attacks

I am prepared to feel a little sorry for the kid, who couldn't have been exposed like this if the useful idiots around him had done their fucking jobs. But the Grauniad can fuck off with the tired 'beee kiiiind' shit as a solution. Been there, binned the t-shirt. We want our shit back.

I’m a 14-year-old trans athlete. No one should face the vicious attacks I have faced | Lina Haaga

People understand gender differently, and I was taught to respect all ideas. But the vitriol I recently experienced was not a healthy debate

And I still haven't had a response to my comment that ethnic identity is waaaaaay more than melanin (re Rachel Dolezal).

Strange, that.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 18/06/2026 09:05

Jesus. The article literally says that trans people in sport is something that can be debated without personal abuse...and you're personally abusive to her.

To a child.

I've posted on here a lot about the very real, very sexualised abuse trans children suffer, especially at school, because of adults indulging in online dehumanisation and hate speech. It is destroying young lives.

'Coddle his delusions' is hate speech, yeah. It's ignorant transphobia.

Just say you're angry this article humanised her, and you're afraid of that.

And this is where the parallel drawn elsewhere on this thread between transgender ideology and Christianity falls flat on its face.

Some MN posters love to jump in with the term 'sky fairy' when there's a discussion about religion (particularly Christianity), or they talk about indoctrinating children when there is a discussion about church schools, or they blame Christianity for all sorts of stuff. You don't see the Christians on MN calling it 'hate speech... ignorant Christianophobia'.

DrBlackbird · 18/06/2026 13:18

Trans kids find getting beaten up & sexually assaulted pretty tedious too. Shame about the adults who enable that.

@TransParentlyAnnoyed is, I believe, talking about her DD who identifies as a boy but has been sexually harassed or assaulted by boys in her school. Perhaps in spaces reserved for boys. This is abhorrent and our hearts should go out to that poor poor girl.

Where Transparent is mistaken is when she says shame about the adults, she means the women here (and some men). Instead of blaming those who are doing their darnest to protect young children and teens, one day, she may realise the adults who have ‘enabled’ that to happen are the many professionals who have embraced the gender ideology without a second thought about the negative implications for our children.

It is unfortunate that TPA has come to also believe in this horrific ideology claiming children can be born in the wrong body (what a terrible message), but surely there’s some leeway in understanding that educators, doctors, police, prisons, companies, social workers, politicians have all jumped on the trans bandwagon and perpetuate this message ad nauseum. So it’s no surprise that some parents do. It is a nightmare.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 18/06/2026 12:16

Bye, transphobe who has no problem attacking kids and enabling the violence used against them.

Happy not to disappoint.

I'm sorry. But no one has done this.

Perhaps you would like to retract that lie.

RJMacReady · 18/06/2026 13:03

DumpyVictoria · 17/06/2026 20:02

Just because you think so, doesn't make it true.

But when a boy thinks he is a girl, that does make it true?

EmpressaurusKitty · 18/06/2026 12:55

Boiledbeetle · 18/06/2026 12:43

You'll be trying to tell me I'm not actually a beetle next.

And I’m not a regal feline dinosaur. Outrageous.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 18/06/2026 12:50

EvieBB · 18/06/2026 12:13

Yes, possibly

You would destroy women and girls' legal, social and political rights and deligitimise the female voice - the rights and voice half of humanity - because of sonething that might "possibly" be true, and which even if it is true only changes how someone perceives their sex, not what their sex actually is?

Not good enough. Not good enough at all.

Boiledbeetle · 18/06/2026 12:43

DumpyVictoria · 17/06/2026 20:19

But she doesn't really believe she's a T-Rex, does she? She's just playing. I doubt very much that this illusion will persist throughout her life and was there as soon as she was able to feel.

You'll be trying to tell me I'm not actually a beetle next.

ReflectingPool · 17/06/2026 23:05

As I've said many times already, if the anaconda is really a gerbil, of course it wouldn't eat gerbils

Until it got really really hungry. Because it's biologically designed to eat gerbils.

Oi oi. 'Designed' sounds dangerously creationist.

MyrtleLion · 18/06/2026 12:41

For the record I checked whether anacondas do actually eat gerbils. Apparently they’re not a natural part of their diet because they’re quite small for large anacondas to hunt for, but given the opportunity they will eat gerbils. And apparently young anacondas in captivity are fed gerbils among other small rodents

So the gerbils are absolutely within their rights to ask for gerbil-identifying anacondas to be kept out of their single-gerbil spaces.

Can’t think of a human analogy though.🤔

Nope. Still not coming to mind. 😂

CassOle · 18/06/2026 12:41

Maybe... is it Peter Pan or Stefonknee 'not growing up'?

quantumbutterfly · 18/06/2026 12:38

CassOle · 17/06/2026 22:57

So, is Medusa a demi-girl or a demi-snake?
Also, the Minotaur: demi-boy or demi-bull?

Plus, why demi-girl/boy rather than demi-woman/man?

Because they never have to grow up?

quantumbutterfly · 18/06/2026 12:31

SabrinaThwaite · 17/06/2026 22:17

I think I might be way past Demiboy and trending towards full on bloke.

If only I’d ignored my inner engineer and just stayed on the fainting couch being all womanly.

You can pretend your drill bits are tiny unicorn horns.

quantumbutterfly · 18/06/2026 12:27

ReflectingPool · 17/06/2026 22:04

Don’t be silly. He is male. Most 4 year olds spend their time pretending to be dinosaurs. . . .

Thank goodness that's normal. I've been looking after a 2 year old dinosaur for a few days now and was beginning to get worried. Does some very convincing stomping.

Tyrannosaur or Sauropod? You may need to stock up on raw meat.

EvieBB · 18/06/2026 12:24

EvieBB · 18/06/2026 12:22

What is TPA please?

Sorry, just read the full thread. I presume you mean the poster TransParentlyAnnoyed..

quantumbutterfly · 18/06/2026 12:23

SabrinaThwaite · 17/06/2026 21:59

Maybe they give them out in boxes of cornflakes?

Well thank you for that mental picture.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 18/06/2026 12:22

EvieBB · 18/06/2026 11:33

I never said I had a solution or that it's easy. I want to protect women's rights and spaces as much as the next feminist whilst also acknowledging that there are some people who are genuinely trans. There is no easy answer.... hence the ongoing debate

You are at the start of a journey many of us have taken.

At the start, you think there must surely be a reasonable compromise whereby society can most of the time make believe trans people are actually the opposite sex, with limitations that everyone agrees are reasonable because of course they and everyone else realise aren't really the opposite sex.

And you assume that trans people who you have been told can't help how they were born and suffer so deeply from lack of recognition will understand that this is a concession and courtesy extended to them out of care and support, and appreciate this.

But as you learn more, you realise that far from being grateful, this suggestion incenses the political trans activists who are driving the agenda in politics and organisations. You are told that anything other than complete capitulation, TWAW and TMAM in all ways and all contexts, is dispicable hate. You are told that to suggest sex is also significant is the same as celebrating children's suicide and calling for genocide.

And you realise that this anger is very very similar to the anger some in society have always directed at "uppity" women, and that for some TRAs it has become less about supporting trans people and more about beating the boogeyman TERFs.

And you start to question what this "feels like a woman" actually means, and what it implies about how those people assume you as a woman must feel or think or live.

And eventually, you come to realise the whole thing is just sexist stereotypes, and actually there is no place where some men are legitimately more like women than other men because of their minds that is not less open minded amd less sexist and less reductive of women than simply recognising that man/boy are words for the male half of humanity and women/girl for the female, and everything else is just personality that can and should be absolutely fine for either sex to express.

teawamutu · 18/06/2026 12:07

It's very much part of TPA's playbook to chuck in references to sexual assault as soon as the beee kiiind argument is ineffective and tiresome references to facts creep in.

What is TPA please?

OttersOnAPlane · 18/06/2026 12:20

Have you been at the cooking sherry, TransParent? No one here is attacking this lad, not enabling violence. We are critical of his behaviour (racing in the opposite sex category) and those peddling lies to him about being able to be a girl. Which he can't.

It's typical of your hyperbolic rants that you see "opinions I don't like" as attacks.

Libel is a thing. Stop accusing posters on this board of "enabling violence."

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 18/06/2026 12:16

teawamutu · 18/06/2026 09:25

Oh, hello. You showed up later than expected. The 'unhinged accusations about prurient interest in children's genitalia' square on my TRA bingo card will not remain empty much longer then.

FTR I have not personally abused this boy; I have in fact expressed some sympathy for him growing up surrounded by lies. Seethlaw's very eloquent perspective has really brought it home afresh to me.

However, I think enabling his entitlement did him no favours and he's going to have a very difficult life if he thinks everyone who doesn't give him what he wants/play along with his delusions hates him and wants him dead. People like you reinforcing that belief will be particularly unhelpful.

I'm not going to engage with you further because we've done this several times before.

Bye, transphobe who has no problem attacking kids and enabling the violence used against them.

Happy not to disappoint.

As explained in a previous post, perhaps it is factually true in that there was a glitch in the development process in the womb and their brain was flooded with the "wrong" hormones causing a disconnect between brain and body.
Perhaps one day scientists will be able to prove that these people aren't delusional but feel perfectly reasonable owing to a perfectly reasonable physiological phenomenon

You think so?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/06/2026 12:10

TheKeatingFive · 18/06/2026 12:00

It's not hate speech. Dont be ridiculous. Hate speech is a legally designated concept. It's not just 'things I don't want to hear'

Hate speech absolutely is not “refusing to call a boy “she”.” 🙄 I think pp has pretty much jumped the shark by now.

teawamutu · 18/06/2026 12:07

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/06/2026 12:05

Is there any evidence this particular boy was beaten up and sexually assaulted? Plenty of people are bullied at school and beyond. It’s never justified. Most people who are sexually assaulted are women and girls. Not really relevant to whether a rich, privileged boy should compete in female sports, is it?
