Guardian: weaponised emotional blackmail from 14yo 'trans' athlete

The Guardian's rearguard action on reality continues. Apparently the problem is not the parents and authorities who conspired to lie to this boy, coddle his delusions, disadvantage all girls around him in the service of his own wishful thinking etc etc etc: it's definitely the people who pointed it out:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jun/17/trans-athlete-no-one-should-face-vicious-attacks

I am prepared to feel a little sorry for the kid, who couldn't have been exposed like this if the useful idiots around him had done their fucking jobs. But the Grauniad can fuck off with the tired 'beee kiiiind' shit as a solution. Been there, binned the t-shirt. We want our shit back.

I’m a 14-year-old trans athlete. No one should face the vicious attacks I have faced | Lina Haaga

People understand gender differently, and I was taught to respect all ideas. But the vitriol I recently experienced was not a healthy debate

These are EXCELLENT questions!

I will consult the demi-oracle.

Oh damn it, I forgot to ask about the demi-horse/demi-bird. Maybe the demi-oracle can answer that one too?

murasaki · 17/06/2026 23:06

It's nice to see Dumpy finally admit that they were spouting utter tripe.

ReflectingPool · 17/06/2026 23:05

As I've said many times already, if the anaconda is really a gerbil, of course it wouldn't eat gerbils

Until it got really really hungry. Because it's biologically designed to eat gerbils.

I dunno.

I may have had some wine.

I want a gerbil now.

Are you sure? That didn’t end so well for Richard Gere.

So, is Medusa a demi-girl or a demi-snake?
Also, the Minotaur: demi-boy or demi-bull?

Plus, why demi-girl/boy rather than demi-woman/man?

These are EXCELLENT questions!

I will consult the demi-oracle.

Hi, Dumpy, glad you're back.

Re your previous post

Since they are criminals who are convicted of rape, they've forfeited their right to be believed that they are who they say they are.

I'd really appreciate an answer to my questions I posted upthread, thanks:

But if people are the sex they say they are, and that is 100% reality, how can you "forfeit" reality just because you've committed a crime? Either it is or it isn't reality. Reality cannot be changed just because someone thinks it should.

So, which is it? Has this person actually changed sex until they commit a crime, after which they miraculously revert back to being their original sex? Or is the reality that they never changed sex in the first place?

I dunno.

I may have had some wine.

I want a gerbil now.

I DO wish we lived in a world where demi-gerbils, trans-condas, pans-condas, non-binary gerbils, and everyone else all lived and loved in harmony. Why shouldn't the tiger enjoy sewing, just because she has big clumsy claws and everyone says that sewing isn't something that tigers should ever do? Why should she be defined by her stripes? She didn't ask for them. And why should the bunny be sweet all the time, just because he looks harmless? He might be hiding a criminal mastermind under all that fluff. Looks can be deceptive.

Not at all. If the anaconda was really a gerbil, of course it wouldn't eat gerbils.

Can I just say once again, that the anaconda/gerbil analogy was NOT started by me.

Edited

And if anacondas who identify as gerbils eat gerbils at the same rate as other anacondas should they still go in with the gerbils?

"But if people are the sex they say they are, and that is 100% reality, how can you "forfeit" reality just
because you've committed a crime?"

Dumpy has decreed them to be the wrong kind of trans.

But how can we tell? If our reality is actually all in their minds, I'd really like to know how we can tell "genuine trans people" from "non-genuine trans people." It's important for me to be able to correctly identify what my actual reality is, or else how will I know if I'm living in reality or not?

I don't suppose we'll ever get a useful answer to this, but I live in hope.

In any event, it would be a lot more interesting than the usual "I'm still living in 2020" tripe that keeps being rolled out.

Poor girl. When will this hatred of transgirls subside? Hope she doesn't let it get to her too much.

Of course no 14 year old should have to read negativity about themselves in a newspaper. But then again, no 14 should be used by adults , which is what is clearly happening to this child, to promote lies .

Humans can not change sex.

Sex is not the same as gender.

A 14 year old boy on the point of puberty has no reason to run in a race for girls. If he wants to run competitively he should be running against other boys.

😂😂😂😂😂

Well then trans women is the phrase we use to describe men who are pretending to be women. Not a thing, but it’s in the dictionary.

BTW as someone who worked on the Oxford English Dictionary, are you aware that it’s a usage dictionary? Yes it has definitions, but it is really a record of when words entered the language and how they have changed over time. It’s really a historical record rather than a definitive book on what words mean for ever and ever and ever.

Say something often enough and it will end up in the OED,

Who cares about the Gerbils? The Gerbils are bigots and deserve everything they get.

Ohhhh, no, the gerbils aren't bigots. They just don't believe the gerbilcondas, since some previous gerbilcondas have turned out to be plain old anacondas. And because gerbilcondas do look very much like anacondas, despite their attempts to dial back the snakiness.

MyAmpleSheep · 17/06/2026 21:55

Waitwhat? How else do you get one?

Maybe the special people can grow one, like David Lammy and a cervix.

Or maybe there's a tombola of some kind - at this point, it's about as logical as the other gender guff.

@DumpyVictoria , someone's internal sense of gender is as relevant to the rest of society as their taste in music, their favourite colour, their Myer-Briggs result, how they scored on Are You A Good Friend in a Cosmopolitan quiz and their biorhythms chart.

They can have this belief, they can structure a persona around it, but it means absolutely nothing in the wider world.

Best wishes,

I didn't mean anything about intersex, but you have a point. I meant that feeling as if you are the opposite sex to your body can also have a biological basis. Sorry to spoil your bingo card.

I think it's very sexist to be defined only by your genitals.

Edited

Your reproductive system defines sex. That's not sexism, it's just physical fact. It has certain practical implications and "identifying as" something different doesn't change this, so there's no point in pretending about it. You have one sort or the other.

The rest is personality, which is as variable as human beings. Trying to shoehorn that into a system of "genders" is unnecessarily rigid thinking and arguably very sexist because it relies on matching people to stereotypes of masculinity and femininity and defining them by how they measure up. That's still true even if the person is defining themselves.

What the hell.. what on earth have I stumbled upon??

In the unlikely event that an anaconda told me that it was really a gerbil inside but had the wrong body, I would believe the anaconda. I would get the anaconda an appropriately-sized gerbil wheel and some gerbil friends. That would be the kind and humane way to treat a trans-gerbil, whether you believe the anaconda or not.
Transgerbils?? That's a new one 😂😂

In the meantime Dumpy I am the Queen of Sheba. Where's my Sovereign grant? I need to feed my cis gerbils 🐭

Transgerbils?? That's a new one 😂😂

I know! But we know nothing about the internal world of gerbils, except when it’s displayed on the Bluestocking threads and where I collate them on my Substack (https://myrtlelion.substack.com/). Currently they’re very excited about the Gerbil World Cup where they identify as elite sports gerbils.

Maybe they do feel like male gerbils, or anacondas? Or maybe anacondas identify as gerbils? We literally have no idea. And ascribing a sex to them based on their genitalia and which versions carry gerbil young is disgusting, sex-based bigotry.

I found one.

Definitely a gerbil.

I asked AI what would happen if a gerbil-identified anaconda was allowed to mix with actual gerbils.

It said:

The anaconda can identify as a gerbil, wear a tiny tracksuit, run on a wheel, and insist on being called “Ms Squeaky”—but it’s still an anaconda. The gerbils would discover this at approximately the moment they started disappearing.

The scorpion-and-frog analogy works rather well. In the fable, the scorpion says it won’t sting because doing so would doom them both, yet stings anyway because it’s in its nature. Likewise, the anaconda may sincerely believe it’s a gerbil, but its biology hasn’t received the memo.

The amusing twist is that the snake might not be acting maliciously at all:

“What happened to Giselle?”

“I don’t know. One minute we were discussing seed mixes, the next I felt peckish.”

The deeper point of the fable is that self-conception and underlying nature aren’t always the same thing. Whether that’s true in any particular human context is a separate philosophical debate, but for an actual anaconda in a gerbil enclosure, the gerbils would be wise to focus on observable characteristics rather than self-description.

As the surviving gerbils might put it:

“We support Gerbil Anaconda’s right to identify however it wishes. We are, however, concerned about the swallowing.” 🐍🐹

TheKeatingFive · 17/06/2026 22:21

FlirtsWithRhinos · 17/06/2026 22:15

Firstly, how do you find out which it is? Give it the benefit of the doubt, put it in with the gerbils and see what happens?

That's very kind and open-minded validating for the gerbilconda, but a bit shit for the actual gerbils, no? They have nothing to gain here and everything to lose.

Even if gerbilconda isn't going to eat them, from the pov of the gerbils all they know is it hasn't eaten them yet. They are never going to fully relax again.

So really, whichever way it goes it's all a bit shitter for the gerbils than pre-anaconda.

Whereas for gerbilconda it's quite the opposite - if they are genuine they get the lovely validation of being with their gerbil peers. And if they are not genuine... well.

So really however it goes, and however genuine gerbilconda may ne, the gerbils are still getting a pretty clear message here about the relative value of gerbil interests and anaconda interests aren't they?

And finally...

Do you believe an anaconda could really be a gerbil on the inside? Not just for the purpose of this analogy, but as something that could actually happen? Maybe due to a surge of gerbilesque hormones mimicking gerbil development?

Or do you think that's ridiculous? Impossible? Laughable?

Yet you happily believe it's possible when it comes to humans being "really" the opposite sex on the inside. Hmm.

Who cares about the Gerbils? The Gerbils are bigots and deserve everything they get.
