I really hope so. This organisation is brazenly stating how it provides a service for children that is banned and illegal in the UK. Where is the protection for children?

The very grim Jolyon Maugham has committed to funding 10 ex patients to continue their ‘healthcare’ privately. Needless to say he is inviting donations to support them with covering the ‘5 figure number’.

Some were given drugs designed to delay or suppress puberty, while others were given cross-sex hormones, also known as masculinising and feminising hormones.

These help a person develop physical characteristics associated with their identified gender rather than their biological sex. This can lead to irreversible changes such as a deeper voice or breast development.

Odd that the BBC should leave out any mention that the drugs also have unwanted side effects. As written it appears that NHS England have heavily sanctioned the practice because a few children might end up with deeper voices or more breast tissue.

At least they put this in but chose not to comment further.

Cashman says some of the children prescribed hormone treatments had also been diagnosed with conditions such as autism and ADHD, and the focus on gender medication risked overshadowing their wider health needs.

The report found that 53 of the 78 cases reviewed had possible neuro-developmental issues.

Which seems to support the claim that belief in GI is tightly bound to neuro-developmental issues, and yet gender dysphonia is not considered a mental health condition?

I was surprised how recent the cases were in the BBC report -
More than 20 children were given medication without a face-to-face appointment between February 2023 and December 2025.
How does this fit in with the timeline of Cass and pausing / stopping of prescriptions?

Yes, the jump in referrals to GIDS coincided with the BBC showing 'I am Leo' on CBBC.

I don't know whether the programme reflected the jump in numbers of trans-identifying children or encouraged children to identify as trans. Possibly a bit of both.

That's an improvement for the BBC considering how quiet they were about the Cass Review, WPATH and lots of other newsworthy stories.

I wonder how many of those WellBN kids were influenced by BBC output as they were growing up or whether they remember hearing that puberty blockers are a fully reversible pause button.

The stories I've read are from long term Mermaids parents who have been onboard with their child being trans for years so can see no other option now. They sought out Sam Hall/WellBN who operated an outreach service for all of Sussex

The one exception I'm aware of is the man that is bringing a judicial review against WellBN for prescribing CSH to his 16 year old child. It was his case that triggered NHS Sussex to open this investigation. Details are in link

Is there any understanding of the position of these parents? A percentage were not practice patients, so presumably they sought out a GP willing to prescribe PBs / CSH (a la Susie Green). Or are some parents now distraught at finding out they and their children were lied to and deceived about how PBs were helpful in ‘pausing’ puberty? If the latter, will they initiate legal action?

Edited to add: it’s getting a lot of coverage on the BBC and may well serve to inform other parents in similar situations.

I’m not sure why my three posts were removed. They were mostly excerpts from the report with more info about Dr A aka Dr Sam Hall who left WellBN in July 2025.
