Aren't they covered by post-Nuremburg, not being required to obey orders when the orders are not lawful? I know Trump wants to overthrow that for US military, but UK police aren't in that cohort. Though they have to be prepared to put their job on the line, until the courts and tribunals remind the bosses.

At the moment I think the main orders seem to be 'protect the dolls'.

I think part of it is that they got policing the gay community so wrong in the 80s and before plus too many racist Police officers and structural racism (Steven Lawrence) that they are now over compensating. Sadly this process has involved a common sense-ectomy from many so you get idiots like the Chief Constable of Northumbria saying under oath that she would take action against a well behaved group of GC protesters who were all following the law. I think we need some reeducation. Perhaps chanting before every shift would help? Without fear or favour. Women have rights too. It is actually possible for a trans person to commit a crime.

I'm for this. All joining hands and chanting together 'other people have rights too and this is ok.' And 'Women are human.' And absolutely 'without fear or favour'. Possibly some social stories.

Obviously I'm a massive bigot, but I'm coming to the conclusion that police officer is no job for trans people.
