Amnesty International and Liberty are two separate organisations. Liberty used to be called the National Council for Civil Liberties in the 1970s.

So they went up when trans activists asked people to report more, and then dropped when the police said 'this is mental, misgendering someone is not a hate crime'. Iirc.

And yes the Navalny incident was shameful. Funnily enough you should retain human rights even if you are guilty of wrongthink but that wasn't their view on it

To think I used to basically run a local group before falling out with them on their bat shittery take on women's rights. Not just trans issues but the prevailing 'sex work is real work' feel to what came out of the centre. This is the same Amnesty that ran a Stop Violence Against Women campaign well before the point they would tie themselves in knots about even defining what those pesky women even were of course.

The last straw for me was when the Portsmouth group joined in the demo against the Filia conference there. The chalked graffiti was horrific and the chants while we heard from survivors of sexual violence inside were the most awful example of how Amnesty had utterly lost its way.

Reduce coverage to evidence-based reporting of issues that do affect trans people directly, and when doing so, ensure the voices of those affected are front and centre.

Don't report issues that trans-identified men and TRAs have caused for women, or, if you do, ensure you put a positive spin on the latest attempt to get a woman sacked.

I'd bet a large number of the news stories mentioning trans people, especially as murder victims, reference Brianna Ghey. Would they have been happier with less coverage? It was an awful, cruel crime. The perpetrators being children and their victim a trans-identifying boy, these are facets that are bound to catch the attention of the public and hence the press. Brianna's mum going forward with her campaign also kept the story in the media.

As for the rest, perhaps a few people with trans identities should tone down the crimes they commit and go quietlyto the jails that align withtheir biological sex to serve their sentences. Don't go all Isla Bryson, then politicians won't make more headlines by talking absolute mince when asked a question...sorry...a gotcha.
