Another former supporter. For many years I was willing to accept that there would be campaigns with which I didn't entirely align with the charity but that Amnesty International was well intentioned and a net force for good. Its determination to push for males to have continued access to female spaces makes me wonder about the motivation behind the graphic publicity material it's currently putting out about atrocities committed against women in specific parts of the world.

I trusted Oxfam to be what it said it was for far too long too.

It’s not a human rights movement anymore though, is it? That’s the problem. I, like many other people here, have supported them in the past, and I'm beyond fed up with what they've become.

Amnesty is a crock of shit. I supported them for years. They've gone bad.

HUMAN rights movement. You would defund an important organisation that fights tirelessly for ALL humans. Yes, including trans people, but also women. See below:-

I fell out of love with Amnesty in the pre-digital age. One of their supporter campaigns in the late nineties was to write letters pleading for clemency for people on death row in the USA. I received my first task and it was for a man who had raped and murdered an elderly woman. They described his crime in the paperwork. He had learning difficulties (I can’t recall the exact term used in the USA) but I just couldn’t put pen to paper for him…

I don’t think I believe in the death penalty but there was just something in the way that Amnesty expected me to accept that act and go into action on his behalf.

By pure coincidence there was an Amnesty International fundraiser shaking a bucket for donations at the train station I went through earlier. I scowled at him. 😂

This all day. Those charities run on £3m a year and they’ve achieved significant legislative change and such public awareness their minds have actually changed. Better than any political party.

In 2020 these charities didn’t exist and Stonewall was getting £12 mill a year.

We’re used to doing hard work and being underpaid for it.

Like Amnesty gives a shit about painting an accurate picture.

It's a timely antidote to Amnesty's report.

As Biggs and North conclude in their study: “If the extent of fatal violence suffered by transgender people in Britain is considered to be an epidemic, then the same epithet applies to the fatal violence inflicted by transgender people.”

Amnesty doesn't seem to have considered that from around 2012 everything went undercover. By stealth so much happened, so much capture. It looks like loads happened from 2020 but only because we were trying to shift massive boulders of capture and misinformation. Up until that point we were shut down.

I know this report frames it as a bad thing but, looking past that, how wonderful it is that the impact of so many women from all walks of life working together towards a shared feminist goal has been recognised.

Thank you Amnesty for appreciating how much we've managed to achieve in such a short amount of time.
