Gender Critical guy - How can I help the cause?

MyShyCat · 16/05/2026 22:41

Hoping that the amazing women of Mumsnet can help me. I am firmly in the Gender Critical camp. I peaked many years ago after the birth of my daughter. I simply got to the point where I couldn't ignore the craziness that we were all being expected to accept. Amazing women on Youtube like Magdalen Berns, Posie Parker, Helen Joyce, Jo Bartosch, Arielle Scarcella and Kathleen Stock were able to perfectly articulate all the thoughts that were flying around my head.

Like many of us I have watched with horror as bit by bit the rights of women and girls have been systematically dismantled. There have undoubtedly been successes on our journey back to reality but Sall Grover's defeat the other day has really made me wobble.

My problem is I not sure what to do to help the cause. I feel like I should be more vocal or active - not exactly Bill Board Chris levels of "being out there" but I think I need to actually be a bit braver and make my voice heard.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how a 53 year-old father of a teenage girl can take a more active role in this fight, then I would love to hear more.

I'm not sure I can just carry on watching youtube clips and tutting anymore! All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I WOULD RATHER BE RUDE THAN A "F**KING LIAR."

I've had time to reflect. It would be good to hear what people have to say. Taztoy, you up for a chat?

Can you not understand the irony of your actions OP?

Do you not see how that sounds?

It's deliberate

Hi Taztoy. Good to hear from you. How's it going?

That’s why I called it out and took screenshots.

That's really underhand because only the victim can see it, and they have to publicly complain/plead or put up with it.

To be honest, I can imagine inadvertently putting an unwelcome comment on a post, but not doing it again when told to stop!

But then continually engaging with inappropriate reactions to people's posts even when they've told him what he's doing is weird and creepy...

He said that he can choose who he engages with, and if he doesn't care to then he won't; he'll just move on.

@MyShyCat , I'm wondering why you don't want to address the concerns raised by several posters?

A little humility re the way it's come across in places would go a long way.

@MyShyCat You're reaction to concerns about men ignoring children's boundaries is particularly disgusting holy fuck. How many times does a woman have to tell you no or to stop before you do? 10 or more?

Toilet passes are a difficult one. On the face of it they do work. There has to be some kind of mechanism that allows students (especially girls) to leave class when they need to.

Probem is, in practice girls feel embarassed presenting the pass to the teacher because it often signifies that they are on their period.

Also not sure that it has to be one or the other. (Either stickers or toilet passes, I mean.) I wonder would it be possible to do both?

Sorry - you care about girls feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable but have once again posted a creepy reaction instead of engaging or simply ignoring posts you don't wish to reply to? Even when people have explicitly told you how it's coming across you've done it literally done again 🤨 I feel very uncomfortable that you're in a position of power with children when this is how childish and boundary crossing you are online.

Female toilet provision such as the introduction of toilet passes may be more of an effective help than stickers at the moment.

In the meantime keep pressure on management and the union to update policies with regards to those who identify as trans.

@MyShyCat and gain! Thanks for continuing to show you don't care about women's requests. Gonna keep posting every single time you do that so people can continue to see you being a creep and ignoring women's requests to either leave them alone or replying with your words instead of a creepy inappropriate reaction.

murasaki · 28/05/2026 13:33

There are some men on here who genuinely get it (at least 2, possibly 3, I 'know' from another board that we were basically booted from years ago for being massive transphobes). They are never less than constructive, interesting and intelligent. And didn't go wading in with big feet lecturing women.

@MyShyCat doesn't seem to be like them. Now I'm a believer in the golden bridge, but this doesn't seem to be that.

Mind you, I never thought I'd see the day when someone on an FWR thread had Bea and Taztoy agreeing with each other, that's quite the achievement. Not in a good way!

Irkeddancer · 28/05/2026 13:28

@MyShyCat I will happily keep commenting to highlight everytime you continue to ignore me as a woman saying your behaviour is creepy and to please STOP reacting with weird reactions to my post. You clearly have no good faith in helping women, proven by you insinuating women are being mean girls by not sucking up to you on here. Every reaction you continue doing is all going to MN and will support your ban for trolling. Going for another one? Go ahead and show you're not better than any other man. It's pathetic how much your ego is clearly shattered at women not jumping all over you that you can't take a simple note to stop reacting to posts you clearly don't have the words to engage with and because you think it'll be secret and behind closed doors. Why are grown men so bloody fragile😂

Well of course what he wants to do comes first and he gets a kick out of knowing he's doing something women have asked him not to...Typical man 🙄

@MyShyCat seriously, STOP. You said yourself peopl can choose who they interact with and multiple women have told you it's creepy as hell to react with a weird reaction to their post and not engage at all into heir critique. Ignore women's input if you want but STOP IGNORING MAKING WOMEN UNCOMFORTABLE. Seriously what exactly drives you to this cause since you don't respect women's spaces or boundaries? Are you getting your kicks from it? How would you feel if your daughter was telling some absolute creep to stop doing something and he kept doing it because he liked it?

It's so embarrassingly obvious you came to this forum thinking you were doing everyone some kind of favour. No one needs anything from you except for you to go away and unlearn you utter entitlement and the same instincts you have that make you no different to a TiM and any other male predator.

I completely disagree. The thing about forums is that you can choose who you want to chat to. No-one is expected to talk to everyone. You can pick and choose who you listen to or interact with. If you don't like something that someone says, you can just move on to the next thread. Plenty of other stuff to read and plenty of other people to interact with.

However, the problem with forums is that there is always one or two people who think they run the place. It's the same with any workplace, committee or social club - there is always someone who everyone looks towards for approval or credibility.

I don't think I want to play that game.

Most forums remind me of the Cantina scene from Star Wars. There's always someone tapping the new guy on the shoulder saying "I don't like you..." and then when they are ignored.... "My friend doesn't like you either!"

I don't need or want anyones acceptance or approval nor do I need a nood towards my "credibility."

I'm definitely not playing this game.

However, I think I quite like it here! I think I will stick around.

So you do understand choice and boundaries and yet when women say the creepy inappropriate reactions you are putting to their posts are wording them out you just double down and keep doing it even when women have told you their choice that they don't want you to. Interesting support of women there. And another man not disclosing his sex in a forum designed mostly for women so you can lurk in our threads without women knowing they're speaking to a male....

Yes and it’s also a board where posters should anticipate being challenged on their views and opinions. It’s not a hive mind board where everyone claps each other on the back and says how wonderful the other posters are.

There are many regular and well respected posters who frequently make thoughtful contributions, it’s not quite the popular girl clique you think it is OP.

But if you stick around you’ll see that soon enough.

Actually I think the dynamics of this forum are nothing like you describe. There is a lot of considerateness and tolerance. And you need to distinguish vulnerability from exclusivity. Which really should be easy.
