Looks like the meltdown has already started, with threats of leadership challenge. I'm wondering if Starmer, Brown, and Harman will even be around after next week!

At this stage I presume the whole cabinet is, apart from Wes. If he could pull off a coup and getting leader that works be brilliant, but I think realistically Burnham is probably the least worst option in the short term to regain Reform areas.

It really is deeply depressing looking at the quality of leading politicians these days. I resent them deeply for making me look favourably on Thatcher and her cabinet. I may have loathed everything she stood for, but I couldn’t deny she had clear principles and stuck to them. And was competent at her job and achieving her aims.

It's looks like when a mummy's boy brings his mum into the marital home and the wife is just pushed to one side and she knows she's never going to come back from it.

Only Starmer would look at those local election results and think this photo op is what people wanted to see.

I mean he's not a stupid man - is he really this out of touch?? It's not just her TWAW why can't you just be kind stuff but it's her association with PIE. It is of course being brought up immediately and after the issue with grooming gangs, does he really think ppl won't jump all over that?

Well at least this stupid appointment seems to have done some good. Catherine West, who used to work as a social worker with survivors of child sexual abuse, has said that if no one else has challenged Starmer by Monday she'll do it herself.
She has no interest in being leader, she just hopes to spur others to action. More power to her elbow! (And if you have a Labour m.p try to get them to support her)

He was always going to unveil a programme of legislation however the election turned out.

Bad election - legislation can fix this

Good election - let's celebrate with legislation.

Nothing change election - let's have some more legislation anyway.

I was leaning towards leaving him as PM as realistically nothing is going to change with a change in leadership, but if we want to have any chance of a left of centre party with credibility of challenging Reform at the next GE then they at least need to give the impression they are actually in touch with working class voters and listening to what they say. And not dismissing them as bigoted FFS Gordon.

The only person in Labour with any chance of getting the public back on side in the short term is the King of the North Andy Burnham. I could live with him as PM, Starmer as Foreign Secretary given he seems to do quite well on international matters, and Milliband as Chancellor. Wes still has the aura of an NUS president and needs a few more years to get some gravitas but he’s certainly one to watch for the future.
