They wanted to purchase Springfield Park for their own exclusive use iirc. But the borough wouldn't play ball. They aren't twaw that's for sure. Though it's hard to see the issue ever impinging upon them. The children attend their own schools. Lubavitch? My Hasidic neighbours in Upper Clapton were probably Conservative minded but seemed rather uninterested in national politics.

Google tells me that Dylan Law is Statutory Deputy Mayor of Hackney Cabinet Member for Safer Homes and Housing Services Cllr for Hackney Downs.

I see that a couple of the people with the big white banner have got TRA flags. The one with pink hair probably identify as trans.

It was probably the one where trans rights activists stabbed an effigy of Andy Burnham in the eyes.

Left-wing councils have launched a co-ordinated effort to defy rules on single-sex spaces, with some refusing to make staff run services on the basis of biological sex.

Labour, Green and Liberal Democrat authorities said they would resist implementing the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) code, which came into force on Wednesday, as women pushed legal action to force public bodies to comply with the law.

The leaders of six London boroughs — Lambeth, Hackney, Haringey, Lewisham, Southwark and Waltham Forest — made a joint commitment to keep their services “inclusive” and warned the rules “will feel like an attack” on transgender and non-binary residents.

In a joint letter, they said: “Trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary identities are fundamentally valid.” They described the code as “harmful to the rights of trans people” and said: “We won’t put our staff in the impossible position of policing entry to public spaces.”

I found it bizarre that Hackney proudly displayed an Irish Traveller flag over the town hall, but has trouble flying the English flag! That added with their insane choice to stop the twinning of Hackney with a diverse town in Israel and giving them a deadline of the 7th October! WTF has Hackney become! I lived there for 25 years and this woman is so out of touch about the actual community! It’s always been a diverse and flourishing place, where different communities lived safely side by side! She doesn’t realise her extreme left way of thinking could ruin it all!

They're like the Monster Raving Loony Party, but with zero SOH and even less practicality. I would genuinely trust Howling Laud Hope to run the country more rationally than them.
How about talking about the environment...y'know, the clue is written on the front of the tin, the <Greens>.

Quite a slap in the face for women to know the Greens will campaign for just about anybody but women.

I didn't realise there was an Irish Traveller flag. More research needed but I strongly suspect most Travellers are unaware of this too. Like other posters I think it would make more sense for the Greens to pay more attention the environment and other more pressing issues.

@IwantToRetire how did so few people (the trans people, not the Green councillors) end up with such power?

There have been many threads about this on FWR, and there are various suggestions.

But whether through secret networks, mis training by Stonewall, the issue as I see it it how did so many people who aren't trans are so actively TRAs and so actively anti woman.

So much of this is about disrespecting women and women's rights.

And why, just why, are some of the supporters women? Are they just plain stupid?

To Zoe:

No single sex toilets means no toilet cubicles, unless you break building regulations. Furthermore it means no toilet door and partition gaps which are for health and safety: ventilation, thorough cleaning, supervision in medical emergencies and prevention of misuse. Who benefits most from single sex cubicles? Anyone having a medical emergency, or anyone being assaulted which affects women and children. People with neurological and heart conditions are particularly at risk eg. up to 11% of cardiac arrests happen on the toilet. People needing cleaner toilets for immune issues are at risk too. It’s scientifically proven unisex (universal) toilet designs contain the most pathogens.

I saved a young woman’s life because of the permitted 15cm floor to door gap in single sex toilets - she had choked on vomit and stopped breathing. Over the last few years I have researched non domestic toilet safety and I have a books-worth of research and evidence which shows mixed sex designs are less safe.

If you want to discuss, I am happy to, because I want everyone to be safe. But abolishing single sex designs isn’t the way to do it. You are creating toilets that are least worse for healthy men. That is not equality.

Again, I think many on FWR have asked this over and over again.

It is just so strange. You could support trans rights but still support and ensure that women's rights were not undermined or ignored.

And it is the TRAs who seemed fanatical about getting women to "submit" to accepting men as women. And some of them are members of the House of Commons Women and Equality Committee!!!!!!!!!!

For the same reason that many women will post on here but not divulge their real name on an open public platform. It asks for your name. I am not going to make a name up.

I have criticised lots of toilet ‘solutions’ by many different people who have a lot more money and power than me, but they haven’t the foggiest about the reality of toilet provision. I know so much about the difference good and bad design can make now. I spend lots of time making sure everything I write is truthful and I can back it up. Someone from the USA highlighted me as the nichest account the other day which made me smile. Happy to be niche - indicates I know what I am talking about!

It’s irrelevant because Zoe will find out (with or without seeing anything from me) that she can’t not have single sex toilets.

This would be daft and at a loss to health and safety, but the closest thing she can have is making all toilets more costly universal designs, which would be very tricky design-wise in larger buildings because of the way they have to be set out. However, even though they could look exactly the same internally (except different sanitary bins for different needs) they would still have to have women and men pictograms on the door to differentiate. What’s the point? You may as well have proper single sex washrooms with cubicles off the handbasin area. Much cheaper, safer, healthier and quicker turnover (so you can calculate for 25% less standard toilets).
