Zoe Garbett - Green mayor for Hackney

What do we know about Zoe Garbett (Hackney’s new Green mayor) in the context of gender identity politics? I assume she must be full on TWAW or the Greens would have ex-communicated her/Walter Titty wouldn’t be seen with her, but is this correct?

Let alone the fact that as a Mayor she doesn't seem to understand this is now the law.

Or is she yet another one who thinks when a law doesn't fit their view of the world she and everyone should just ignore it.

So, we've gone from the "ordering" stage in the last couple of decades to the now "pleading" phase. How things have changed, and how utterly useless these people are.
If the likes of Garbett had spent 1% of the energy they extended on silencing and belittling women instead on finding rational solutions, imagine what optimal outcomes could have been found.
Instead she was happy to prolong the trash culture war to the zero sum game it became.
Now, to plead for the SC ruling to be ignored, how pathetic.

Zoe states: ‘The government's own equality impact assessment acknowledges this guidance will put trans people into real physical risk’.

Where does it say this? I have looked at the equality impact assessment and can’t find ‘physical risk’.

Potential GOAT SACRIFICE just YARDS from Hackney Town Hall!

https://www.londoncentric.media/p/hackney-london-goat-sacrifice-office-warehouse

In recent weeks London Centric has uncovered videos of his organisation conducting elaborate ceremonies involving animal body parts, explosives and the burning of replica coffins by graves belonging to unrelated individuals.

But who is this man running a “black magic” temple a few minutes’ walk from Hackney town hall? What is he doing in there? And how does it all come back to a chef called Hugo who used to work for Marco Pierre White?

Looking forward to Mayor Zoe muttering about unity in diversity and avoiding any questions about animal welfare

Are goats being sacrificed in this Hackney office?

Live animals dragged into a trendy east London building and never seen again • Fire rituals in London cemeteries • Bones left by strangers' graves • What is going on?

Also just to add, the Ayatollahs in Iran said the same thing, then murdered all the Socialists, enforced a strict Islamist state on their people and stole all their money to fund terrorism.

Of course Yasser Arafat said much the same, which was why the Israelis and the Americans refused to deal with him; democracy, they could stand, but socialism was a hard no.

And he was Palestinian. Sultana is a British Pakistani loudmouth who caused her own party of a few hundred people to disintegrate into factionalism yet thinks she should be telling another country how to run itself. That's the colonial aspect.

I'm a little confused by this.

Does it mean that Reform were responsible for the elections being held at all? Because the existing councillors could have been kept their seats until the councils are abolished, by being returned unopposed? But Reform candidates insisted on standing against them, causing an election? Reform candidates and no-one else?

There was a thread about this aspect of the recent elections - see https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5478388-do-you-care-if-your-local-council-cancels-theiryour-local-election-in-may

Yes didn't Zahra Sultana say she was campaigning for Palestine to be a Secular socialist democracy? Sounds pretty imperialist to me to impose your Western Socialist atheistic ideals onto a foreign country?

"We will defend and protect the rights of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and continue to campaign for full legal rights and equal access to services for trans people, particularly in the wake of the 2025 Supreme Court ruling."

Zoe seems to be unaware that trans people already have the same legal rights and equal access to services as everyone else.

I think she wants to go further than that . In the outline of her manifesto for Mayor she mentions “trans access to single sex spaces” obviously not recognising the irony of that statement.

Reform threatened to take the government to court because the elections were delayed in areas which were undergoing local government reorganisation. The elections were delayed because the current governments are due to be abolished next year, and elections for new local authorities would take place. Because of the Reform legal action the government backed down, so local authorities, in the middle of trying to deal with local government reorganisation have had to hold elections to councils that won't exist next year, as well as run the whole thing again next year. So yes, it is almost entirely Reforms fault ( as well as the government again failing to communicate why they took completely explainable decisions and instead caving in to Reform)

I mean the entire local elections were actually a waste of time and money in many areas, caused by Reform because the councils are being abolished.

I was going to say something quite harsh about Greens being slap dash and disorganised, but they other parties have their failures.

Anyhow, latest total of the cost of new elections needed because Green councillors elected who should never have been put forward as councillors.

Or maybe this is just a London thing?

Nothing is going to beat the estimated £5m it will cost to run this Andy Burnham vanity contest in Manchester, the cost of the by election and new mayoral contest if he becomes an MP.
So many reasons to vote against him, but wasting £5m of tax payers hard earned is the biggest of all.

So: untrue claims of experience on his cv, didn’t pay his council tax, didn’t get round to voting, belittles women’s rights, minimises attacks on the Jewish community. What a prince. Better hope those green voters carry on voting on the vibe not the small print Zack!

I'm told the boat is in a particular marina on the River Lea. The marina is in Waltham Forest borough and Walthamstow constituency. But a short walk over a footbridge gets you to Hackney (North and Stoke Newington).

That's right.

IwantToRetire · 13/05/2026 20:20

Well he's getting the celebrity coverage now.

He has been doorstepped to a in red top style, £2 million house in Hackey.

Not standing up for him or any of the others, but I think shows they are still organising as though a student group.

Although given the blunders of some established MPs maybe they just think they are too important to bother with ordinary day to day concerns of everyday folk!

I cant find an earlier report I read about this, but this seems to be about whether he was living in Hackney (where else) or an a moored houseboat in Waltham Forest.

Strangely both of these boroughs went green!

Sarah Vine accusing someone else of being a creep given how long she was married to Michael Gove at least means she could claim to be able to spot one.

Whoever you were likely to have as Hackney Mayor would have broadly the same views on trans issues.
