Amelia Connolly - of the Scottish Greens and previously independence campaigners is being held on remand in a male prison.

He has also asked to take back his earlier guilty plea.

I saw “Amelia” and “child sexual abuse” and I just knew it was going to be one of those women with a penis. It works every time - almost as though women don’t actually commit significant levels of CSA. Only men - even those who think they’re women.

Same here! What a strange coincidence that pretending to be female gives a man far greater access to children …

Actually, I'm unclear on the process here. Connolly plead guilty on the charge of possession of CSA images. And was to be sentenced, hence court appearance.

But now appears to want to recant his guilty plea. Is it even possible to do that?

He was in court for sentencing, plus a different contempt of court charge.

It's possible it's a typo, with "c" being inconveniently right next to "v" on most keyboards. But in that case, if I was responsible for the typo, I'd be inclined to admit to it.

At that point their membership should have been suspended entirely, pending investigation. And there's a question about why so many people who simply have the bravery to speak the truth with integrity and honesty are expelled from organisations like the Greens whilst others - who objectively behave more badly - remain.

And it's not a million miles away from why Epstein was allowed to carry on with what everyone in his orbit knew he was doing and didn't stop it. Or why the grooming gangs were allowed to torture and rape children for so long with the institutions paid and set up to stop it not only not stopping it but enabling it and setting up the children to be trapped.

There are many people now being associated who probably weren't involved in any crimes, but they sure as hell looked the other way.

Regardless of the outcome of this narrow court case, it seems clear that anti-safeguarding things like referring to men with female pronouns and obscuring their sex class are not positive for most of society. Especially children.

And when such men are arrested for alleged harms to children, the fact that the media still won't tell the truth about their sex suggests they too want to obscure this relevant fact. My question is why (I think I know why).

A good safeguarding culture is one where we can discuss themes and red flags. A lot of the comments here are general. Like for example why so many red flags are ignored over and over and over again around men who are later investigated by the police for paedophilia.

Given this is a politically involved public figure, its important people are informed.

I feel as if these days the more responsible a position (at least in theory - elected representative, senior manager) a person holds, the less likely they are to deserve to do so. Definitely in the Greens, but it applies elsewhere too (Post office, NHS).

It's almost like the modern world is selecting for abusers to run things.

I know that the Liberals got hefty donations from the pharmaceutical company that makes Lupron. I was just wondering if there's a financial incentive for the Green Party to have so many transwomen candidates?

It really seems bizarre that they learned nothing from the Challenor scandal.
