Honestly, this man is obsessed. He has now created a program to scrape and grade Mumsnet threads from this board.

What is this?

Oh yes, I have downloaded most of mumsnet and we will be doing embeddings of the content to try to understand how does the rot and hate builds and spreads.

I never had so much hate and delusion on my hard drive before 😅

The first set of Aston "researchers" talked about Mumsnet having unexpectedly high levels of "priming", which is computational linguistics speak for "Alice used a word, which put it into Bob's and Carol's heads, making them more likely to also use it". My first thought was "I bet they didn't remove all the quoted text before analysing posts". The quotes repeat sentence fragments verbatim, creating an illusion of priming in the replies.

An eccles cake and chips was my diet of choice from the school canteen during my A levels. Given the grades, it clearly didn't do me any harm.

Haven't had one in years, and now fancy one....

When I was growing up in Lancashire many years ago, the dried fruit in Eccles cakes was always currants. Nowadays I gather other fruits can be added. Is nothing sacred? 😉😁

My Nan used to make rock cakes and I was usually given the spoon and bowl to lick. Finding a random currant in the leftover mixture was a real treat.

Time Out is the one I think was the most shameful - it took a long time of product development work to create the original product. And now it's just been reduced to a chocolate and wafer bar. Its first iteration had a layer of Flake chocolate sandwiched between wafer, and it was much tastier and richer than it is now. Unfortunately they created something that competed too closely with their other brand, Twirl, so had to make TO more different.

I got that you'd worked on chocolate. And then thought you'd also worked on Time Out magazine. And children's pushchairs.

I'm feeling I missed out. My childhood was obviously severely lacking in chocolate variety.

can i join the Dark Chocolate Bounty Cabal? I don't really like dark chocolate, but a dark chocolate bounty is a thing of sublime deliciousness.

Lucky me, (not uk) there is a local drugstore who make a knock-off dark chocolate bounty so i can still enjoy them. I always buy a bag of what my DCs call "rabbit poo" (chocolate raisins) for the drive to England.
