Sadly, not a Monty Python sketch.

Matt Rattley, a large bearded bloke who wears giant fake breasts, appears to be happily working at Oxford Uni.

I was really hoping this wasn't true but there is even a youtube video with him talking while wearing the giant breasts and red lipstick, applied to a degree any circus clown would be accused of overdoing it. The video includes a slide stating he works as a lecturer and tutor in the Biochemistry Dept at Oxford. He's also on LinkedIn.

I mean, how obvious can it be that this is a sexual fetish which he is involving unconsenting students and staff in???

Dr P on X has been (correctly) very robust on this case:

""This is Matt Rattley saying, "I can do whatever I please and nobody can stop me".

This is highly antisocial, abnormal, boundary-violating, paraphilic behaviour.

And we should not be afraid to say so."

Well yes. A perversion is not a crime unless it harms people. I do have a problem with people pointing and laughing at ‚perverts‘, given that it is a subjective term as opposed to acting on paedophilic tendencies in any way, which is different. However, I have read some of the other comments about blackface for example, and that is making me think I haven’t thought this all through as much as some people on here have. I‘m going to go away and have a look at the stuff about gateway acts etc. So are we saying it‘s ok to dress as our not-assigned-at-birth gender as long as we pass, or as long as we were were born a woman and are now a transman. There‘s obviously a range of opinions on here but some seem to be against any kind of pride at all? Also, the comment about safe-space was in reference to universities are normally more liberal places where you are employed on the strengths of your academics rather than as a customer services associate in business dress. One of my elderly male lecturers used to have his very fat tummy, white, hairy tummy hanging out of his trousers where his shirt wasn‘t tucked in and his trousers were hanging low and jumper too small. Not very nice first thing in the morning if you were sitting right by him but I felt he was just a bit unkempt and I was supposed to be listening to his ideas not judging his appearance… I just saw it and got on with my life, not offended, not traumatised and I suppose the students taught by your fellow, probably feel the same.

This man is dressing in a fetishistic way. Wearing comically large breasts is in no way an attempt to pass. Being unkempt is not a fetish. It’s ok to know and to say these things. It’s not bigoted. Supporting trans people does not mean swallowing this sexually aggressive behaviour. He is in plain sight.

Ask yourself why he didn’t choose a 32AA cup.

I’m asking myself if @Lady1576 really did attend the college she mentioned.

My point is it doesn‘t matter. I get what people are saying about blackface though. You feel he is mocking women and you it makes you feel sad.

To be fair, he’s also doing a lot of harm to the trans cause. If I was a TRA I’d be furious. I mean, I thought all transpeople just wanted to blend in and live their lives. He’s making a mockery of that by parading his fetish in public. Not a good look for those arguing transpeople would never do that is it?

This person has boobs that are covered. I‘m not offended by breasts. I have breasts, you have breasts, some men naturally have larger ‚breasts‘ than I do. A naked cock is not the same as some covered breasts!

He is wearing fake breasts showing massive cleavage

he wears them because it gives him a sexual thrill

I don't get a sexual thrill out of having breasts - they're just there

I don‘t?! I‘m guessing?

In general, I'd say that nobody should bring their "whole selves" to work. They should bring their professional selves; this includes dressing appropriately for the role.

Political opinions, religious convictions, hobbies, holiday planning, home decoration dilemmas, relationship troubles, post-partying hangovers, health conditions, fashion choices, sexual thrills - the only relevance should be where these directly affect the work you are doing and that of your colleagues, and the customer/service user experience.

Gender is assigned at birth? What like babies are told as they emerge what outdated, sexist stereotypes they have to follow? Wow! Missed that bit when I was having my child. I mean, the sex was observed at birth but no one wittered on about gender! I feel robbed!

I see we have a new interesting defence of this batshittery

'oh you silly little peasant, those super intelligent oxbridge ppl aren't bound by societal rules because they're so incredibly special and soooo clever which you'd know if you weren't a silly peasant but a proper person who went to oxbridge. Only non oxbridge silly ppl worry about men performing sexual fetishes at work'

And if it was someone wearing blackface working for Oxford University? I guarantee they'd be sent home the same day, investigation immediately underway, and a massive exercise in damage limitation with apologies for anyone offended in an effort to avoid reputational damage.

But, it's only bloody women, they can get over themselves, eh? The bitches.

Quite

My opinion is that bringing a fetish to work - in general, I am not singling out or naming any individual - is unprofessional.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/04/2026 11:44

Twaddle - this isn't 'eccentricity' it's 'parading your fetish in public do you can get turned on at work by it'

It was ever thus my dear! I do think Oxbridge gets special dispensation for being as mad as a box of wet hens.

Has he made an internet thread about you asking lots of people to point, laugh and be disgusted by him? Right then. Why are you doing that about someone you don‘t know? What you are doing is online bullying, and kinda online stalking. It‘s weird to choose a non-celebrity and search the internet for their work place and find photos of them at normal events that have nothing to do with their fetish or extra-curricular activities, and then encourage other people to do the same. Your main issue seems to be that he has a job at a good university and is being allowed to function as a human. Have you decided he is not allowed to do that because he is a bit weird? What would you like to happen to him? Would you ideally prefer it if he was put in prison, shunned, stoned for being weird? Last time I checked, fundamental British values included, ‚you can live as you like if it doesn‘t harm others’. And no, just because you re-frame it as ‚involving others in a fetish‘ doesn’t mean you are being harmed, because you don‘t work with him or have to see him or interact with him at all.

"a bit weird"??

If he was wearing a gimp mask, would that be OK?

He is acting out his sexuality at work. It's not about his identity, it's clearly and shamelessly sexual and as such is creating an uncomfortable and potentially hostile environment for colleagues and students.

Disgusting that the university allows this.

BusyAzureTraybake · 26/04/2026 11:50

Hallamule · 26/04/2026 11:43

I'm not sure how much the discomfort of others should affect how we present ourselves tbh. There are general societal standards eg cover your genitals but beyond that it's pretty much up to the individual isn't it? Do you think women's clothing choiced should be policed or just mens? If men want to wear false breasts or dresses or make up let them.

When did false breasts become a 'clothing choice'?

DisgruntledofTunbridge · 26/04/2026 11:50

HaveCreditWillShop · 26/04/2026 11:40

This is Oxford University. Eccentricity is part of the job spec.

that's precisely the mental image I got when I clapped eyes on him in the Story Museum! Grin

It's the confounding combo of beard and boobs. I note that on LinkedIn, he is a they/them so I suppose - hence beard/boobs?? I'm also convinced he keeps the beard long to hide the join.

Kitt1 · 26/04/2026 11:48

Surely this sort of deliberate fetish behaviour whilst at work should be dealt with under the grounds of ‘behaviour risking bringing the University into disrepute’?

Why aren’t HR stepping in?

Is he one of those vile male lecturers who behave appallingly because they think they’re untouchable? I’ve met a few of those types in my time sadly and it’s always the ‘best’ Universities where they’re allowed to do their worst with no consequences. 😡
