Shelagh Fogarty LBC

Has just interviewed Susan Smith of FWS about the EHRC guidance. Great interview and she's taking calls now.
Shelagh is unashamedly gender critical but I think this is the strongest I've ever heard her on the subject.
Listen again on the LBC app from just after 3pm.
Shelagh gets dreadful abuse from TRAs on twiX and in real life, so please show her some love and let LBC know too.

I would suggest that if you can’t see James O’Brien’s misogyny, it must be because your own misogyny is on a par with his. (Internalised if you’re a woman, straightforward externalised if you’re a man.)

Same goes for EllaMozarella.

His male supremacist agenda is visible from space: women saying no to men is something he really, really can’t stomach. Presumably you can’t either.

I agree, and so do plenty of others who liked my post also calling James a misogynist. I know lots of women in real life who also feel the same.

Do you often call people opinions that differ from yours, ‘fucking nonsense’?

I worked with Shelagh many years ago (and her brother Liam) I adore her. She's bloody brilliant. She did right to leave the BBC, they'd never give her the same trust and freedom that LBC does.

She’s a nasty piece of work. Hacking into other people’s computers. Desperately reliant on whaf she thinks are gotchas in PMQs.

I've been listening to her for a few years now and enjoy her show. She is how I'd like to be but can't quite manage it all the time - forthright but fair. Not afraid to show opinions and intelligent enough for debate. Thanks Shelagh!

I remember millennia ago when she was on BBC 5 radio, one of her male co-presenters said something that was a bit of a double entendre - it was unintentional, and nothing very bad, but Shelagh immediately told him to stop it at once, she had five brothers and could make mincemeat of him in no time if he carried on like that😁
I get the impression that she is still motivated by that spirit!

When I was a minion at the BBC years ago, Shelagh was amazing on pay. She travelled around the country, talking to women in all the regions about their conditions and pay and, for the first time, we were able to share stories about the appalling behaviour of (predominantly male) BBC managers and the fact so many of us saw stalled pay and progression compared with male colleagues. It doesn't surprise me at all that she's still firmly and articulately on the side of women battling injustice. Or that she found those values incompatible with working at the BBC.

Thanks for sharing that. I’m not surprised to be honest. She is definitely on the side of women, but fairness generally. I listen and have learned a lot from her shows about topics that I know little or haven’t experienced. I see her as a true champion for women, girls, and fairness. I would love to know if she’s amongst us here!
