It's ridiculous, isn't it. God knows how these people think they come across.

She also told me about something called hash tags.

😆

"Out of respect for Baroness Falkner can we not just for once have a thread that is about someone who has been proactive and positive in forwarding women's sex based rights."

I haven't followed Lady Falkner closely, as I am not in the UK, but what I have read about her seems to me that she's an important voice for women and girls.
💐 to Lady F., a women with a spine of steel.

IwantToRetire · 28/04/2026 17:26

Seriously!

Out of respect for Baroness Falkner can we not just for once have a thread that is about someone who has been proactive and positive in forwarding women's sex based rights.

By replying to a derailer, who obviously actually doesn't care about the sidetrack otherwise they would have crated a thread, it just means that yet again women are being drowned out.

Moreover who has the time or wants to validate someone by responding to them.

It just an open invite for them to keep coming back.

Its a piss take.

Has anyone heard of Men identifying as trans being chased out of the 'bathrooms' i.e. Gents? I don't think I have. And it's a nonsense anyway with the increasing number of unisex toilets.

The real people who are discriminated in this respect are those with mobility issues. A disabled person can't just go out and assume that they will find an accessible loo.

So quit your moaming trans identifying men. You call it 'hate' because you have been called out on your behaviour.

"What rights have transwomen lost? The bleating about changing rooms and toilets narks me - there are more and more unisex facilities now for both of these. The only 'right' they lost, is the right to cheat and to be pandered to."

We lost the right to use the bathrooms that are meant for us.
We lost the right to certain protections under the law.
We lost the right to expect others to accept our validity and lived experience.

And, given the pure hateful spite of your last line, we lost the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

Thanks.

I think that this will be great for us to use every time people are in any doubt about just how male people's demands that society treat them as if their subjective belief is material reality when it is not, is in direct conflict with female people's needs.

I have bookmarked it for just that purpose because this is so helpful. Thanks

Oh fuck off, WOMEN campaigned for public women’s toilets to allow us to participate in public life before you were born. They are NOT meant for you.

They are meant for biological women because of the vulnerability that comes from our BIOLOGY. Being smaller, less strong and vulnerable to rape and pregnancy.

Campaign for your own bloody toilets.

Can't edit, so another post just to add:

I am always amused by vast all encompassing claims to Rights, by people who seem never to have recognised a Duty in their lives.

And I am aware that laughing at people because they are making fools of themselves is a clear indication that I must hate such people, rather than feeling sorry for them....

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/04/2026 13:57

GrannyAurora
And the nonsense is all the hate.

Oh, for pity's sake! What hate? I don't think you have the slightest idea what "hate" means. Quote me any on this thread. Any at all.

Pity, yes, and refusal to accept as gospel truth "facts" that don't match what you yourself have written; laughter at stupidity, sometimes; contempt, even; but hate? I too was once a sergeant attached to the horse marines of the royal Swiss navy, and the other one has bells on.

Dragonasaurus · 28/04/2026 12:45

We do, however, maintain the rights to completely ignore posters who have a) had the legal position explained to them many times before and b) fully understand the negative impact that their behaviours have on women - and still don’t care (male socialisation being pretty strong). Clearly these posters have no problem with the threat made to Baroness Falkner and her family - or at least not enough of a problem to mention it.

I am shocked (but sadly not surprised) that the Baroness believed herself and her family to be at risk, but these threats have been ignored by most the media for so long. I hope that the threats have subsided, and not simply been transferred along with the job - would we know? I would love to find a way to properly recognise Baroness Faulkner’s contribution.

Datun · 28/04/2026 10:11

So incredulous I said it twice

Datun · 28/04/2026 10:10

We lost the right to expect others to accept our validity and lived experience.

Honestly, I can't get over this!

Who reaches adulthood genuinely believing that they have the right to be validated and affirmed in anything? Much less their own internal made up shit.

It's bad enough constantly going around wanting people to do it, it's absolutely crazy to imagine you've got the right.

Women's spaces were never meant for men, including transwomen. The whole point of those women's spaces is to keep men out.

We lost the right to certain protections under the law.

Which protections?

We lost the right to expect others to accept our validity and lived experience.

You never had that right. No one does. You have the right to your beliefs based on your lived experience, I have the right to my beliefs based on my lived experience.

we lost the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

No one has the right to automatic respect. Respect is earned.

What about my right, as a woman, to dignity and respect? Have you considered that at all?

You've never had those rights. Try reading the Supreme Court statement, instead of listening to made up bollocks.

Men don't have the right to enter women's spaces!

And why on earth do you expect anybody to validate your internal self image? Honestly the entitlement is off the scale.

And why should anyone treat somebody with dignity, or respect, who is hell bent on violating their boundaries?

Can I suggest you stay out of women's spaces, and tell your fellow cohorts to stop threatening women with rape and violence.

Then come back and ask about respect.

matresense · 28/04/2026 09:27

@HazelLemur

You never had the right to demand access to all female spaces. It’s not something that the law said, nor was it something that was accepted by a majority of the British public, as multiple YouGov pols have shown - it’s only by ideological capture coupled with shaming and obfuscating that people failed to speak up against things that they thought were nonsense.

I think trans people deserve dignity, but as trans people. No one has the right to make people believe in gender identity. This is very disappointing for you, obviously, but I think it’s unreasonable to get upset that women don’t have sufficient empathy for you when your cause has displayed so little for them - we’ve previously been told that being kind means having no boundaries whatsoever, called TERF scum etc. “Trans woman are women, no debate” (even if they are rapists, have penises, want to play rugby against your adolescent daughter) is the root of the problem.

Ironically, there probably were a small subset of trans people who were quietly getting on with life and whose lives have been made far worse by the activism that was “for them”- to be clear, I don’t believe those people changed sex to their opposite sex and would not have accepted that any such trans women could compete against women in competitive sports. However, if there were previously people who were quietly living their lives incognito, I wouldn’t have been super bothered. The reason I am now bothered is because unfortunately the cause has been co-opted by people who cannot cease to push boundaries and it’s only really possible to draw lines against such people with clear sex related expectations, norms and laws. Even aside from the awful, prison and sex offender type cases, can you not see that, for example, demanding access to the women’s pond for any person with a penis who claims a female gender identity when a mixed sex pond is available and thereby destroying female only provision is somewhat unhinged behaviour?

With respect, the people to be cross with are your own side.

Transwomen are entitled to and have the same rights as all other citizens.

What's been lost is the right to appropriate the rights of others. The rights of women to have women only sport, to undress without men being present, to access women only hospital wards etc etc.

You've finally been told no - time to put the listening ears on.

This is a good article and well worth reading.
About the only statement she makes that I would take issue with is this one:

She says her five years at the head of the EHRC convinced her that Britain needs to acknowledge that the rights of some minority groups conflict with each other, whether that be the rights of trans women versus biological women, or the right of Muslims to protest versus the right of Jews to live in peace.

I cannot speak about the Jews vs Muslim situation but I would question her statement about the rights of transwomen vs biological women. What rights have transwomen lost? The bleating about changing rooms and toilets narks me - there are more and more unisex facilities now for both of these. The only 'right' they lost, is the right to cheat and to be pandered to.

Welcome to Mumsnet Granny. I think it's amazing that a self identified Granny can find this board and this thread in order to to post their comments about their daughter / granddaughter, tampons, blood and aggressive men.

Now - about this courageous public servant Baroness Falkner. I do hope she's safe and able to live her life as she chooses. As we're seeing - there are major concern about the levels of increasing violence and threats from some in the trans community with direct threats made to politicians - see linked thread for details.

I never said bloodied tampon. She had a tampon in her hand and just rushing into the cubicle. The blood was somewhere else. Need I say more?

And the nonsense is all the hate. I should've never gone on Mumsnet. My granddaughter said to me that it wasn't very nice. I won't repeat her actual words, I don't approve of such language. Anyway, I didn't believe her, so she pointed me to this forum. She also told me about something called hash tags, like #NIONWomen.

It is amazing that even at your advanced age, you are still able to get to grips with early 2000s phenomenon like hashtags and internets with the help of your granddaughter, who presumably wasn’t yet born when people first started using them.

You are working very hard to portray yourself as a little old woman who is ignorant of the world until the granddaughter comes along and enlightens you and then you are all sad. It's very weird and not at all convincing.

Baroness Falkner is one of the most impressive public servants of this decade if not century. I can't think of anyone else who has shown such courage and integrity along with clear rational analysis.

Yes agreed, and far more interesting and relevant to be talking about - IMO!
