Ideas please to get a response from John Lewis to my complaint.

If they don't put up clear signage — and let's fact it, none of us will be holding our breaths on that — why not write a letter to your local newspaper or see if you can upload something to local news platforms as a citizen journalist.
As @MsGreying points out, large corporations do (sometimes) think about their reputation.
I was recently asked to complete feedback after registering on the John Lewis app (in my defence, it was for a MoB hat). I mentioned the vile state of the mixed loos near their rooftop terrace, and the smell of male urine in the loos on the next level down which were supposedly just for women.
JL, M&S and the rest of them need a constant drip feed of comments and complaints.

There’s also an opportunity here for you to learn, very few areas actually require signage - and going forward if this is a topic that’s important to you and there isn’t conclusive signage then you’ll need to AJs rather than assume.

Large companies will monitor that and react quickly.

@Nevershoppingagaininjohnlewis JL said they can't do bra fittings behind locked doors for the safety of their partners conducting the fitting. I completely understand that.

Yet that is exactly what my M&S does. I do wish these firms would get their bloody safeguarding act together.

To all those who say that men’s and women’s clothes are on separate floors - it’s men who will be trying on women’s clothes and masturbating in the women’s changing cubicles.

Previously I would have agreed with you , but they’ve just paid their partners an annual bonus for the first time since pre covid so appears the tide maybe turning

its derelict uncaring and cruel to exclude males from single sex spaces. HOw dare a shop consider the needs and wants of young girls in such a way

Surely dads don't go in the changing rooms when their daughters are trying on bras? It's bad enough going in with your mum; every teenager I've ever known would be mortified by going in with their dad.

As for opinions, or fetching clothes, it's normal (or used to be) for the women to come out of the changing room to ask the waiting man for an opinion, or to fetch clothes, not for the men to hang around inside the changing room.

Was he using the changing room? You also get dads who have to take their daughters bra shopping

I imagine it’s like leisure centres - it’s unisex if there are cubicles. Single sex when it’s communal . No one sees anyone else if it’s cubicles, and it’s getting close to freaking about how under our clothes we’re all naked .

Which branch is this if you don't mind my asking? My local JL still has cubicles with doors, and the bra fitting section is on the other side of the women's clothing department - also with doors.

Contact customer services and ask for your complaint to be escalated to a manager and also ask for CEO office contact. JLP have moved their customer service overseas ( predominantly South Africa) and Waitrose will be the same from summer!

The John Lewis I went to last week for my bra fitting had the changing room on the floor with all the other women’s wear. Menswear was on another floor. No idea if the changing rooms were officially unisex or not though there would no compelling reason for a man to use that one (but each cubicle was self contained -solid partitions and a floorlength curtain).

Unisex changing rooms are not illegal. You cannot make them reply either. If you want a public debate on whether shops should have single sex changing rooms I suggest writing to one of the more reactionary media outlets.

The irony is that one of the reasons our local M&S switched to unisex was mothers complaining about not being allowed to bring boys over 8 into the female changing rooms and vice versa. (Same issues with swimming pools) you change rules to help one group and another complains. At our John Lewis there are changing rooms on each floor and men’s clothing is with the electrical goods, ladies has a whole floor and children’s wear is with lingerie

It would be lawful under the EQA 2010 to have female-only lingerie fitting rooms. It's perfectly understandable to those of us with any experience of our world, plus some common sense, that girls & women do not want males a few inches away from them when having a bra fitting or whatever. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.

If JL and others don't offer this, I suspect it's an economic decision - clustering the changing rooms in more awkward corners of the shop floor might allow for more efficient use of floor space for sales. Lord knows they need it.

So - if they can make an economic decision, so can I. But if I'm wrong and it's a political decision, then ditto. So can I.

I don't shop there any more. For practical reasons and ideological ones.

Anyway, all JL has to do is have three changing rooms - women only, men only and mixed sex. And by women and men I mean as defined by the Supreme Court.

Women have no obligation to support a business because it employs mainly women. Women customers support businesses that meet their needs.

Individuals are free to boycott whichever company they want, for whatever reason they want. If JL went under, plenty of men would lose their jobs too, and of course they are the ones earning more money.
