So now he's changed his page to "Challenging the EHRC's Code of Practice". It's nothing to do with the Labour party any more.

He's clearly had legal advice that his challenge to Labour actually following the law was a complete non-starter.

Is he allowed to just change the cause like that, under CrowdJustice's rules? 🤔

People donated for one reason, and now it's a completely different reason!

Oh crikey, that surely can't be allowed!

You don't donate fifteen grand to sue the labour party, and the person says ooh thanks, we're suing someone else instead now tho.

Unless the fifteen grand was conditional upon suing someone else.

But where does that leave all the fivers and tenners people?

While thing seems a bit, um, unprofessional.

Has anyone archived the original version of the "About" section on CrowdJustice and this new one, so that they can be compared?

I would absolutely love it if she had. Can you imagine! 😂

It really wouldn't surprise me if a gender critical woman had made that donation.

I suggested JKR should, a while back in this thread. It probably took her a day or two to get around to it. She’s quite busy, you know.

Brainworm · 02/06/2026 11:04

I think that, with Crowd Justice, the money gets released directly to the law firm running the case. If Steph put in £15k, he would be able to get it back. This doesn’t mean it wasn’t him, it could be an amount he was intending to / is willing to put in.

TinselAngel · 02/06/2026 10:36

Maybe he’s remortgaged his house or something just to stop me gloating. He certainly hates me enough to do it.

LowLightsHighLights · 02/06/2026 09:52

So, this large donation means:

  • he has now met his original target (£25,000)
  • which means he no longer has to return all the donations so far
  • which means he can go ahead with instructing a solicitor, etc, knowing that none of the money has to be given back

I reckon he has lent it to himself, as the brotherhood was not digging deep.

Either way, as PPs have said, the legal spectacle will be amusing 😄

SirChenjins · 02/06/2026 09:47

Brava ActualWoman!

ArabellaScott · 02/06/2026 09:44

Note that its not just TRAs donating... 😁

(Not sure if Mumsnet will post the link, as it's a fundraiser.)

So, it seems that more than £15,000 has come in overnight 🤔

I would love to know whether that includes a very large single donation.

And if there was one, what the motivation for it was. To see Steph win or to see Steph lose?

I don't suppose I will ever know, which is mildly frustrating.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/06/2026 09:16

Good for him. I hope the case goes ahead, it will be popcorn worthy.

What is the point in extending again? If people are going to give, they would have done so by now.

Maybe Steph's mistake is not looking for funds to sue obnoxious sexist guys who bash foxes.

Sarah Phillimore's fund is now at 49k and climbing.

fromorbit · 28/05/2026 23:23

ArabellaScott · 27/05/2026 12:25

This is a real shame. I was hugely looking forward to the case.

Come on, TRAs! Support your pal Steph.

Why fund Steph when you could fund Jolyon. I mean the /tAs have so many options of legal failure to fund.
