It's strange, isn't it? They really can't keep her name out of their mouths. Very baffling.

If she’d gone down the ‘not in our name’ route, said bad men were taking advantage of trans protections, asked them how they would prevent this etc I think she might have gotten a better response. Sports no probably not but but the moderates would have stuck with her

Look. Trans women are in reality no closer to being women than any other man. They may believe they are, but it's just in their heads.

Why should we accept some sort of middle ground where some men are really women some of the time? It's not true. And it demeans and belittles women to pretend it is.

Acceping men as women, or even pretending to as a kindness, is accepting the reductive idea that being a woman is in part down to thinking or feeling a certain way.

But feelings are not the arbitrer of women's reality. And women's lives and spaces are not resources for the benefit of sad men in need of comfort, no matter how genuinely those men may feel they are entitled to them.

Women deserve to be allowed to exist in our own right and on our own terms without being required to adjust ourselves into the shapes men require us to be. I'm very sad you think so little of women that you do not see that.

It is odd how a few people believe they can tell the rest of the population what to think, believe and how to act.

That’s what you’re doing with trans people! Oh good lord. Paint drying would be a more effective use of my time.

Sorry but I am replying as I go along the thread. This is usually how threads go on mumsnet. We don't bulk reply. We reply to individual posts as we go progress through the thread.

Edited

What I am going to do this morning, rather than engage with you, is report every single baseless lie you’ve posted. Trans women don’t face male violence? I’m tone policing feminists? I can’t: people like you are the reason jk has no support. Stop telling me what to do or explaining what I’m doing wrongly. You look ridiculous. You’re embarassing jk and feminists

Can you just do one long respisne instead of these mini replies I can’t keep track of?

No tras who would have defended her. Trans people face male violence just like women do.

There is zero evidence transwomen face any male violence. In fact, transwomen have said they are safe in the mens, the worst they get is a smirk. Two well known transwomen on X have even filmed themselves entering the mens. Nothing. No abuse. Nothing. The fact that even some women cut the womens loo queue and go into the mens confirms this.

Regardless, male on male violence is male on male violence. It doesn't make a male any more or any less susceptible. And women are not human shields for male-on-male violence.

ThatBlackCat · 31/03/2026 02:42

butterfly231 · 31/03/2026 00:23

No absolutely not. But if she’d been a bit more like ‘I want stringent checks like an airport to protect vulnerable women’ instead of beefing with tras on her social media i think people would have been screaming her name in support.

It takes two to beef. Why don't you go and lecture and scold those that hunt out JK and attack her and start the beef, in the first place. Oh, never mind. We know why.

ThatBlackCat · 31/03/2026 02:41

butterfly231 · 31/03/2026 00:19

Ok so for me
Mean - kind of unwilling to use it
deliberately pissing off people who also face male violence and would totally believe her? Not the smartest move Jo, no.
but that’s just me

There is no evidence whatsoever they face male violence. The evidence shows they are more likely to dish out violence, than receive any back.

ThatBlackCat · 31/03/2026 02:40

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 31/03/2026 00:15

Well it’s due to the tiny number of terrorists we all have to go through stringent airport security measures. Same applies for the need for single sex spaces.

a very small minority. It’s like using terrorists to make Islamaphobic comments. That’s why people find this so controversial and difficult

Per capita, it's a large amount. Women are more safer with 'cis' men than they are with transwomen, sadly. That is what the data clearly proves.

Indeed.

Strange that a woman who

  • posts obsessively about them
  • funds anti-trans campaigns
  • objects when they have jobs
  • mocks their appearance
  • inspires the bullying & sexual violence trans children suffer in schools
  • left a generation of her own young trans fans feeling utterly betrayed
  • ridicules asexual & non-binary people
  • and gives respectability to a culture of violent trans hate while embracing misogynistic men like Trump & Graham Linehan just because they too hate trans people

should even cross their minds.

The fact you think womens rights campaigns are 'anti-trans' tells us you ADMIT that being pro-trans is anti-women. Feminists fund womens rights campaigns. That is not a surprise to anyone with room IQ. You are saying a lot when you admit that women having sex based rights is anti-male/anti-trans.

Get back to us when feminists give males and trans identified males rape threats and death threats and threaten to stab, punch and decapitate them and urinate all over feminist statues. Because the violence is all one way, and you know it.

I’ve never met Dave.
but I know a Lily. Lily just wants to have long hair, go about her business quietly, piss in peace and make friends with similar interests. Lily looks for the rainbow flag as a sign of acceptance when she uses toilets.
lily is more common than Dave. Most people know a lily. They don’t know a Dave. That’s why this is controversial

Sorry, but Lily is a predator and no different than Dave. Any male in a female only single sex space knows he is not welcome there. He knows he doesn't belong there. He knows he is violating boundaries. He knows that. He knows it. Yet he puts his self-serving wishes above the needs and rights of those vulnerable and marginalised (for real) females. There is no difference in action and motivation between Dave and Lily.

events and communities would disagree with you. Are you a member of this community? How can you say it’s not a group? They have interests, gay pride, communities, their own flags. They tend to stick together. Not all. But it’s commonly and widely accepted to everyone. I’m not arguing semantics with you. Trans people face discrimination. Anyone else who’s faced it feels uneasy targeting them instead of engaging with Jk. So her point gets lost. I don’t think it’s strategic

Nope, the LGB want a divorce and it's now with many groups, officially the LGB now. Nothing else.

Trans people face discrimination.

If you mean positive discrimination, yes. Trans are the crem de la crem (sp?). They are the highest point of the totem pole. The sacred caste which is the most powerful, privileged and protected. Even the 'cis' man is way below them.

ThatBlackCat · 31/03/2026 02:11

butterfly231 · 30/03/2026 21:46

I just think strategically it wasn’t the best option. I think it’s deflecting from her real point - violence against women and girls is still widespread. Anyone who speaks out is labelled a ‘witch’ or ‘crazy’ and they’re silenced. Why is she not fighting this? Why aggressive TRAs who wouldn’t even get noticed without the piggyback of her success?

Aggressive TRAs march through London, Scotland, etc with signs saying death to terfs, decapitate terfs, the only good terf is a dead terf, while pulling out their penises and urinating - literally - urinating on feminist statues in public.

You think they are not going to be noticed if Rowling's name isn't attached? Aggressive TRAs are in-your-face live on tv in rallies. Even if Rowling was a TRA and not on our side, we'd still notice the violent TRAs.

They fall under the umbrella of lgbtqia, which is a minority group.

Yet for a supposed minority group, they have managed in less than 10 to 15 years, get society reorganised, the definition of women changed/removed, men in womens prisons, change rooms and rape crisis centres and battered womens shelters - and nailed rats to the door of battered womens shelters who wouldn't comply and had their funding cut off and the shelter closed, women called menstruators, bleeders, cervix havers, birthing person and 'front hole person' (true, from a 'health' organisation in Canada), managed to get children removed from their parents if their parents won't agree to trans them, girls as young as 13 and 14 having double mastectomies, infiltrated the highest echelons in government, health and education.

Not even gay men had this power, they had to struggle for many decades to get anywhere.

The enormous speed that trans have infiltrated and upturned every single section of society, and it's tenacles reach into every single section and area of society - shows and proves this is a group of ENORMOUS power, privilege and protection. They are the highest of sacred castes. And they could not do it even it weren't driven by the patriarchy.

There is no group at the highest level of the totem pole, no group more celebrated, more powerful, more privileged, more protected, than trans. They are the most powerful of sacred castes. So lets cut this 'minority', 'marginalised' bs. They are THE single most powerful - and successful - lobby group in history!

It is offensive. Transwomen are not biologically the same as CIS women, but they deserve respect and it damages nobody to refer to them as she/her. They do not deserve to be ridiculed by being called a man in a dress.

There are cases of men calling themselves trans and committing crimes against women. These men should be subject to the full force of the law and should, of course, go to a men’s prison. Using the existence of these men to cast shade on transgender women is very much not ok.

I believe that the language used by JKR and her deliberate misgendering “allow” other women to express anti- trans views and create a climate in which it is even more difficult to be trans.

No, you are the one being offensive trying to gaslit an oppressed sex to allow our oppressors to appropriate our oppression. An oppressor deserves zero respect. It damages and HARMS women by demanding we mis-sex men. It causes IMMENSE damage and harm. When you ask the oppressed to mis-sex our oppressor to cosplay, you cause immense damage and harm. You've never truly, deeply and genuinely thought about this, have you? Defending men's demands appears to be your default setting. I suggest you read Pronouns are Rohypnol • Fair Play For Women to understand the harm and damage you are causing.

The point is, a male putting on a dress does not change Male Pattern behaviour. You want to think a male's WORD should be taken. Yeah well us women all know all too well from civilisation how 'wise' it is to take men at their word.

Pronouns are Rohypnol • Fair Play For Women

There’s a lot of chat around about pronouns right now. Specifically, ‘preferred’ pronouns. By which is usually meant, the pronouns a person would prefer.

Can I just be clear my actual postition is:

The word “TERF” originated in a hostile context and is now deeply controversial. JKR choosing to publicly embrace it was, in my view, an unwise strategic decision — not because her views are wrong, but because it’s a word that generates instant conflict and derails everything else. She has an enormous platform and could use it for countless things. Watching paint dry would be more productive than wading into that particular semantic swamp. If she were my friend I’d tell her that with love.

Please tell me how I’m tone policing?

Please tell me how I’m tone policing?

You want JK to sit there, take their attacks and death and rape threats, and not defend herself.

Even more than that, you don't want her to talk about the topic, at...all.

ThatBlackCat · 31/03/2026 01:50

butterfly231 · 30/03/2026 17:49

She’s a public figure who has a huge following and impact. I can say what I don’t like about her behaviour and what I wish she’d do instead because of the impact i think it has. I’m not policing you. I don’t think she’s reading this but if she is, it’s coming from a place of love. The difference between me and you is I’m the one being attacked for actually just discussing why this is still going on after so long when it could have died a quiet death years ago?

The issue of the conflict between womens rights and trans rights is very much a live issue and will remain so for a long time, with our without JK Rowling adding
anything.

How would it have "died a quiet death years ago"? There is still FWS vs Scotland, Sandie Peggie, etc etc. Now the IOC. Sports. Without Rowling this issue is not ever going away any time soon.

Can I just not expect her to be the bigger person and use her platform for other things?

Why the f should women always be the 'bigger person'? Why?
