I don't actually see how this is legal since the GLP have been quite clearly politically active in this area. I thought schools had to be politically neutral - I mean obviously this school is not in so many ways but using an activist as a lawyer seems a step too far.

I also wonder how it's being funded if GLP are acting for them and how they're justifying using this no doubt overly expensive option rather than a more modestly priced and neutral or safeguarding specialist lawyer.

Of course any family lawyer who knows about safeguarding probably wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - so there is that - maybe GLP are the only lawyers who don't immediately say 'you're breaking the law you need to admit wrongdoing and settle'.

I don't understand the finance side, because GLP have a crowdfunder but I fully expect the real work will be done (and invoiced for) by Leigh Day, and that the school will have access to public funds of some sort.

OTOH I don't think it's considered unethical to instruct lawyers who are as batshit as the client.

I've just had a horrible thought, which is that Phillipson might stick her oar in again.....

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 24/03/2026 17:49

However, it seems to me that the GLP acting on behalf of the school and council cannot be right and within the principles both PUBLIC bodies are supposed to operate under.

I'm surprised the Governors aren't jumping ship. This is from askaclerk.co.uk "The only situation where a governor could be liable is if they act criminally or dishonestly. The law states that governors in maintained schools will not be personally liable if they act in “good faith” – honestly, sincerely and with good intentions.
An obvious example that would not meet the standards of good faith is if a governor committed fraud because this would involve lying to others for personal gain."

Does pushing an ideology and approving actions by the school that do not accord with the Supreme Court Judgement and law around toilets and changing rooms in schools count as not in 'good faith'? Maybe that will get tested in court too? Let's hope.

I find it difficult to believe that ANY governor could think forcing girls to undress in front of male bodied children is in 'good faith' especially after a year of OP patiently pointing out that he and his daughter are really not ok with this nor about them keeping other parents in the dark either about this failure to adhere with the law and safeguarding principles.

Maybe it's not surprising but illuminating, it shows how completely taken over the school is by this batshittery. It's no longer a place of education but an outright grooming centre for GI, that's why when threaten with legal action they turn to the legal arm of the cult for assistance. 🤔

I bet Scientology work in the same way.

I’m not sure about the grooming aspect, but from my perspective it clearly says that the grown-ups are not in charge of picking suitable legal representation in this matter.

The only time I’ve ever needed legal representation has been for conveyancing and Im sure I’ve done far more due dilligence* than the school have here.

*not a lot - is the firm solvent, do they answer the phone, do they sound like they know what they’re talking about, have I heard any good or bad stories about them from people I know.

"Good Law Project is acting for a school facing a legal challenge from a parent represented by Paul Conrathe – the lawyer of choice for these challenges. We will publish our response to his PAP letter in accordance with our transparency principles as soon as we are able to."

I cannot wait 🙂

GLP. Yes they are truly representing the school and Council, as per their own social media

Fuck. Ing. Hell.

My ghast is completely flabbered.

Surely they won't be using the glorified tax account to represent them. I mean his track record isn't great.

I expect he will have Leigh Day do the donkey work like always. I see that Conrathe Gardner acted for Sex Matters (Intervener) last time, so it will be a heartwarming reunion. Is it too much to hope for the same judge? 🤔

moto748e · 24/03/2026 17:18

That's fine, OP. Hopefully at least some of it will come out in the wash later.

This is the consensus opinion, absolutely :)

I'm sure OP that key people have been watching your threads from the outset. Hopefully it's been an education to them to discover that so many parents & responsible adults are furious at how predatory values are being implemented in a school
I'm sure they're looking forward to explaining why they decided to abandon safeguarding children in favour of dismantling single sex changing rooms etc.

I'm also certain that, just like the threat upthread, they'll do a lot to try to provoke an "intemperate" response from you online to throw at you in court Anything to detract from exposure of what they've done.

This is the sort of people you are dealing with here. Absolutely appalling. I hope they will get their come-uppance.

Women try guilt tripping and lean heavily on be kind, but rarely threats.

I think this is naïve, I found the behaviours directed at Kathleen Stock very threatening and most of the one's responsible for that were women, as are the one's who have been threatening the 3 Sex Realist students in Cambridge. I think mob violence is gender neutral myself.

I think Dear Jane is as she described a 'cis'women, I wondering however how old she is, it wouldn't surprise me if she turned out to be a schoolgirl herself. The playground mentality she displayed with her threats certainly speaks to a very immature person.

I have a feeling mini me SSSiS has the fortitude to tell people like her to go shove it. Brave girl's do. 😁👏

I was thinking the same ie the poster most likely female but I think she is a woman any a mother. Someone who genuinely believes that they’re being ‘tolerant’ and whose identity rests on that belief. Yet it seems tolerance is being modelled only in one direction.

And these outraged drive by scolders never stop to read or engage with any of the replies. It’s a shame because there is much to consider.

Oh the things I know.

Hello to those infiltrators watching this thread 👋Yes you.

One day we will be able to speak clearly about this case. For now we stick to what's in the press release and the GB News article. Annoyingly, as I have opinions.

I just read out the first few pages of congratulations and appreciation of my daughter, to her directly. It really moved her and made a difference to how she feels about this. She remains really worried about the possible fallout so all of your kind, supportive messages has really helped her a lot.

Gardening. So many people have asked and I continue to be just blown away hard working people would dip into their pockets to support this case. Right now, we are ok. However I reserve the option of coming back to this if the school decide to fight it as I am given to understand Judicial Reviews can cost a pretty penny.

GLP. Yes they are truly representing the school and Council, as per their own social media.

ThreeWordHarpy · 24/03/2026 16:57

If GLP really are taking instruction from the school and/or the LA then hopefully it will be a straightforward case for OP because history shows that JM is not capable of neither understanding the law nor putting together a coherent legal position on an alternate view.

I will be astounded though if GLP are doing anything other than inserting themselves into this situation for the usual grifting reasons. Surely to goodness the school/LA will have their own preferred lawyers and thus a degree of accountability over them? I mean sticking with the in-house team didn’t do much for NHS Fife, but that’s what organisations do isn’t it?

This is it.
The emperor has been nude for some time and it's time to make him put his clothes back on.

Is there an allotment in need of seeds? Payday today - already planted for Faye RC and Fiona vs the Union, but would also like to support this if possible?

Is Good Law Project really acting for the school as they state? I would have thought any legal case against a state school would come under the council and their lawyers?
