Steph Richards (TIM) again appointed to a position at endometriosis charity

The headline dishonestly implies that the issue with this appointment is because Richards is trans-identified, rather than because he is male. I wouldn't have any issue with a trans-identified woman affected by endometriosis being appointed. You'd think they would have learnt their lesson from last time when he was appointed CEO. If Richards and the charity gave a damn about women they would have taken on board the level of offence generated then.

Appointment of trans person as endometriosis representative ridiculed

The novelist Amanda Craig has criticised the appointment of Steph Richards, saying ‘it’s as ridiculous as white people speaking for black people’

And the specific qualifications and experience are?

His friend, an actual woman, wanted to massage his ego. That's it.

He's supposed to represent women with endometriosis, how can he? He's a man, it's impossible for him to have any experience of it.

Datun · 19/04/2026 03:28

He's obviously doing it because he has Autogynephilia and gets off on talking about women's medical conditions.

🎯

Datun · 19/04/2026 03:27

Mmmnotsure · 18/04/2026 21:56

Speaking of acronyms, he is now working "closely" with another women's group:
WANP.

So near and yet so far.

🤣

Do people who think Steph is the wrong candidate for various reasons stated here, think that another trans woman would be ok in that role?

No.

Men can't be Women.

It's not possible to change sex

Men can have no idea and no experience of Women's physical medical conditions. Ever

Hope this helps

She has lots of relevant experience. There is just a bunch of posters who are trying to make the facts fit a particular narrative.

Like saying she’s a hairdresser and ignoring her other experience. One of her strengths is that she knows about campaigning for unpopular, gender-based causes.

At least you admit genderism is unpopular

SusieSmth4 · 18/04/2026 22:28

Wearenotborg · 18/04/2026 05:54

But he has no charity experience. He’s a hairdresser ffs!

MyAmpleSheep · 18/04/2026 21:34

To be fair, he didn’t pretend to have endometriosis. Just to be a woman.

He is pretending to be a woman and heading up a woman's charity. Doesn't really matter what the cause is.

Mmmnotsure · 18/04/2026 21:56

Datun · 18/04/2026 12:19

SPUK?

You could weave a pretty pertinent acronym into that.

Speaking of acronyms, he is now working "closely" with another women's group:

No, but a trans man would be absolutely fine IMO.

MyAmpleSheep · 18/04/2026 21:34

I'll ask the same to you...Is it ok for someone to head up an Autism charity pretending that they are autistic?

If not why not?

You are confusing me with another poster.

Ah yes, sorry, you’re the one who thinks a man who has actively campaigned against women’s rights is the best and most qualified person to be a representative of a charity for a condition that only affects women. My bad. It’s difficult keeping the misogynistic ones straight. I may need a spreadsheet.

Darker · 18/04/2026 21:16

Wearenotborg · 18/04/2026 21:00

Well yes, yes it is. You were the one who pointed out that a woman was the CEO of Prostate Cancer UK, so how come it was a fair comparison when you did it, but not when we do it?

You are confusing me with another poster.

He is the wrong person for a role because a male with penis and testicles and prostate is stealing a role, even if voluntary, from a female. No transwoman would be ok in the role because a transwoman is a male with penis and testicles and prostate and absolutely zero experience of having a menstrual period let alone endometriosis. Ejaculating is not the same as menstruating. This is a male stealing a position of a female for fetish or misogynistic reasons.

Darker · 18/04/2026 20:24

Steph’s role was voluntary, and for a charity that depended on volunteers. Turnover £20k per annum.

Prostate Cancer UK: turnover £45 million + per annum.

Not a fair comparison.

You're the one claiming he has lots of relevant experience, it doesn't matter what the turn over of the charity is, that has no impact on experience. Your shilling for the man, at least put some information to back up your claims.

HE has no experience at all. He is a male with a prostate who has never even had a period, and has ZERO experience in marketing or advocacy.

I find it unsurprising that you didn't have the courage to respond to my points about a white person speaking on behalf of a black person, or a sighted person speaking on behalf of a person with no sight.

A male has zero experience of speaking on behalf of women with endometriosis or anything to do with periods.

If anyone is trying to make the facts fit a narrative, it is those who think male fetishists have the right to steal a position from women so he can get off on it, to justify a misogynistic agenda.

Go on. What experience, exactly?

For comparison, this is the CEO of Prostate Cancer UK

Laura is our Chief Executive and she joined us in February 2022. She’s worked in health and wellbeing for over two decades and has a wealth of knowledge across the healthcare landscape. She’s held various senior leadership positions in private healthcare businesses and was an Executive Board member at Nuffield Health, the largest not for profit in the UK.
For the past eight years, Laura has been a Chief Executive in the voluntary sector. She’s led two national cancer charities, Penny Brohn UK and Myeloma UK and has developed a patient-centric approach to research and cancer support. She’s committed to transforming patient experiences and influencing positive changes in care. Her dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago and she’s driven to ensure future lives aren’t shortened or limited by prostate cancer.
In 2018 Laura undertook a Master of Science Degree in People and Organisation Development at Roffey Park Institute to study leadership and improve her own practice.

The wannabee laydees over on Reddit are complaining about Suella Braverman calling Steph a man

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1sobq5b/complaint_about_discriminatory_remarks_by_suella/

There appears to be a fundamental flaw in the complaint which frames Suella Braverman as somehow bound by the Equality Act 2010 in what she says or does in Parliament.

She's not an employer (of Steph), nor does she provide a public service, nor is she a charity or educational establishment or as far as I can tell any other body or person to whom the EA applies.

Additionally MP's words in Parliament attract unqualified privilege, for obvious reasons.

viques · 18/04/2026 13:56

Darker · 17/04/2026 11:52

Do you not see the hypocrisy of saying you can use what words you want, while trying to police the employment and volunteering opportunities available to trans people?

If a TIF applied for the job Steph has walked away from I would support them 100%.
