Steph Richards (TIM) again appointed to a position at endometriosis charity

The headline dishonestly implies that the issue with this appointment is because Richards is trans-identified, rather than because he is male. I wouldn't have any issue with a trans-identified woman affected by endometriosis being appointed. You'd think they would have learnt their lesson from last time when he was appointed CEO. If Richards and the charity gave a damn about women they would have taken on board the level of offence generated then.

'Dr Jodie Hughes, Afn, Bsc (Hons), MSc, PhD' reminds me of the self-titled 'Professor' in the Belfast Film Festival case.

Her own bio says she has 'started' a PhD, and 'almost finished' a PhD. Notably it doesn't say she has completed a PhD. And she sure isn't a medical doctor.

Perhaps the academics on the thread, some of whom I am sure have actual PhDs, could please clarify at what point you can legitimately put those letters after your name and call yourself Dr?

commonly, in the UK, a PhD thesis will take 3-4 years to complete, but can be less or considerably more if part-time study. However, even after submission of the thesis, the candidate (and thesis) must satisfy at least two examiners (external and internal) on a number of issues and undergo a viva examination. It is very common for candidates to be asked to make corrections, which may be minor or major revisions within a given time frame, so the period until the PhD is actually awarded can also stretch some time - and not every PhD candidate is eventually awarded. Someone claiming a PhD before award should be queried by the university providing supervision of their studies.

In the 2023 WH interview with Emma Barnett she says that she is doing a PhD.

How is he able to advocate for women and advise accordingly?
Unless he will co ordinate concerns and feed them back?
Women suffering (and I have known of women suffering) with this condition have been dismissed for years.

I have also just listened (or possibly re-listened) to that interview from 2023. Jodie Hughes was also extremely frustrating to listen to. Emma Barnett did a good job pushing back against both Jodie and Steph.
