Re the Scottish express story on secret briefings on the press release.... I did wonder whether the bit in bold was referring to word count or versions!

What I understand is that in 2026 the Employment Appeal Tribunal only has a couple of days free. And that may not be enough to hear this appeal (plethora of appeal angles, picked and chosen carefully, without a doubt). Which is why it is more likely to happen in 2027.

That being said it is Advocates only, Sandie (or any other witnesses as I understand it) will not be required to testify at EAT.

I honestly cannot understand how his wife puts up with him.
The thought of having sex with a man who claims to be a biological woman (even during intercourse) is a bridge too far for me.
If he genuinely believes this, he is certifiably insane and should not be allowed work as a doctor.

Men don't have the same level of emotional intelligence and empathy that women have. So many years have taught me this, I try to think, maybe some do, but even my DH, my lovely dad and my bil, they just don't and can be a bit dense (naïve is maybe the better word) with certain things, once I explain it they kind of have an "ohhhhh" moment but they'd never make that sort of leap themselves. For example, my dad telling me years ago confidently that if I wanted to lose weight but didn't want the gym fees I should just run in the woods and canal paths behind my house after work or before work (as I was complaining about lack of opportunity for fitness plus lack of cash). Uh huh dad, the place where that female runner was murdered in Glasgow during the day in BROAD DAYLIGHT and where there have been multiple rapes/sexual assaults and attacks over the years. It just never occured to him that this wouldn't be a safe option for me, or any woman. It just doesn't occur to men. So empathy about sexual assault etc really needs to be hammered home, even to the 'decent' men before they understand. I've not had experience of any 'getting it' on their own merit.

So Dr Upton who is clearly doing a skin walk of his wife (looking at the outside court pictures, same hair style, make up, parka jacket, even the same type of scarf style and the earrings) only has in his head a fantasy version of what he thinks womanhood is. Not the cold, brutal reality. If he had that, maybe he would have empathised with Sandie, but sadly the fact he felt emboldened to use the changing rooms in the first place demonstrates that Sandie was talking to a brick wall.

It's what a woman might do with another woman - explain how past female experiences inform reactions and emotions, and expect the possibility of understanding and empathy.

Trouble was, she was talking to a man. Who could never understand, by dint of being - a man.

The bit where she explains why she told Upton about her bad experience with men in the past really makes me feel for her. She was in a really uncomfortable position (through no fault of her own) and she made herself vulnerable to share personal info with the man, hoping for just a tiny bit of empathy and, of course, she received none. Instead, he got her suspended for it. Good riddance to him (but poor Australia).

She was never a friend, so at least that must be clear to Sandi now. She was a jealous piece of work who didn't want Sandi getting a big pay out. A very nasty woman.
