Yep - and this is why the thread of a few days ago is close to the mark - yes, pretty much AMALT. Men do think they are superior by and large and men do think of chores etc as women's work.

Nobody is stopping you from calling anything out, but if you choose to focus on misogyny within one particular group while merrily ignoring misogyny in other groups, then people will draw their own conclusions about your motivations in doing so.

As PP pointed out though, British and Australian culture is also pretty renowned for this and it's delusional to think they aren't and focus only on one culture.

My dd and I have always been convinced that her boyfriend's mum would be 100% on dd's side if the lovely bf was ever unreasonable. Though to be fair, I think his dad would too.

Exactly what I was thinking. And actually, if it is a global study I would have thought the numbers would be even higher. Some people are oblivious to how patriarchal some countries in the world are, and it’s not just the men who think the men should be in charge. Many women agree with it too.

Did anyone notice that they didn't say which country the participants were from, only that it was "global"? Given the results I think we can all guess which region/culture some of the people may be coming from. In left wing circles though you can't say it.

It is deeply depressing but sadly not surprising to me. My dd is Gen Z and has a pretty low opinion of many of the young men of her age - not all, she has some wonderful male friends and a very lovely boyfriend who wouldn't dream of demanding that she should obey him. But she has been telling me since she was around 14/15 about the horrific levels of misogyny amongst boys within her age group.

I think it was ever thus, men have always thought women should serve them, what is different now is that most women certainly in Western Europe no longer agree with this.

I grew up constantly being subtlety degraded and put in my position by my own father and my mother too as she cemented her own position in the family through misogyny at the expense of my sister and me. This is nothing new. What I find sadder is the narrative being put out online by trad wives and trad women that this serves women. But women like my own mother have existed and will continue to exist forever too.

Bless them. No wonder the divorce rate is what it is.

I think my ds is lucky to have been raised by a single mum. He is under no illusions at all of what is fair and expected of him. If he marries and has absurd expectations of his wife, I'll be firmly on her side, not his, and he knows it. 😁
