Was the government afraid of the embarrassment of losing the Judicial Review? I can’t see how the trial can ever be reinstated. It’s a dead duck.

Three cheers for whoever stood up for the kids at the MHRA.
The Telegraph article has excellent explanation of what the drugs do (and how they are NOT just handed out like smarties for prec puberty etc), I shall bookmark it for any debates I find elsewhere online.

How on earth is this a new concern? Why wasn’t it considered by the ethics committee?

The planned trial, which is funded by the NHS, has faced a significant backlash since it was confirmed in November.
Children taking part in the trial were promised up to £500 in Love2Shop vouchers for completing psychometric tests which they could redeem at shops including Currys, Uber Eats and Xbox.

It is part of the usual process that clinical trials are kept continuously under review and for us to have active scientific dialogue with the trial sponsors.

The safety and wellbeing of the participants to be recruited into the PATHWAYS clinical trial is paramount, particularly in view of the age of the children and young people who may be involved. For this reason, the MHRA is applying the highest scrutiny and taking a cautious and measured approach. We have raised some concerns related to the wellbeing of participants and scientific dialogue will now follow with the trial sponsor. We rely on the best scientific evidence to ensure all trials are as safe as possible for those participating.

That Telegraph articles mentions discussing raising the age to 14. At 14 they can have 2 years of puberty blockers then onto cross sex hormones.

If being transparent they should be listing what the ‘new concerns’ are. But again shocker - they’re not.

I hope the children who were lined up for this trial get good quality support. The irresponsible adults around them should never have put them in this situation. I hope that with maturity and about 10 more years of life experience, they can look back and see what a bullet they dodged.

I’ll echo that. It should never have been promised, or sold as any sort of solution to this mess. The mental health of these people is generally rock bottom, they need actual help.

At last. Long overdue for some adults to remind the captured medics that experimenting on children as young as 8 with these drugs is putting them in grave danger.
