clear and all good.

I think the mention of Dr Bowdler was made to point out that some areas of the press are being unusually prim in their writing about these men in order to stop 'scandalous' information being published and therefore imputations being made by the public about trans-identifying men. These journalists seem to want to assist in maintaining the most victimised/marginalised population image that has been claimed for years.

I think we are at cross purposes. I wasn't commenting on anything you said at all, more on the context of the discussion ie about media sources obfuscating truth to serve some moralistic agenda. I was reminded of how Shakespeare's language was hallowed out for the sake of an academic with an agenda. What is being printed seems like Bowdlerisation to me. I wasn't being particular, I was being general.

Women (and girls) have not 'conformed' to sex norms ( I wont use the word gender) for nearly 100 years and further back

When I was growing up an androgynous look (as one example) was everywhere, for males and females, wear what you want, do what you want, embark on what career you want.

Its only in the last 15 years or so that girls apparently are seen as odd or needing to 'be a boy' if they dont conform to sex stereotypes. This is something thats been created in order to support the ideology, not the other way round.
