I don't like Rupert Lowe either, as it goes, and hope I have explained why.

I mean, we're here having a discussion about a political movement whose audience is approximately the audience of "Breakfast with Beau Dade" on the Lotus Eaters platform, and yet again I hear that I'm unreasonable for drawing attention to the labour movement's long-term involvement with what's effectively a grooming gang.

Would you like to hear about the woman in Dublin who was abused by her partner to the point where friends feared he'd kill her? Do you know that the SWP expelled, not the perpetrator who was allowed to quietly disappear, but the comrades who called the cops on him? Do you know that Richard Boyd Barrett smeared them as informers? Do you know the consequences of that smear in Ireland?

Plenty of people, including on FWR, think Richard Boyd Barrett is a good bloke, because of his stances on Gaza and abortion. I've seen him up close and respectfully disagree.

I suppose it’s because my experience is very much of being around lots of, I guess you’d call them mainstream, Labour supporters, some members some not, who absolutely distance themselves from the SWP and caution other people to do likewise. The SWP has historically been very clever at disappearing into the shadows, and some events/demos are very opaque in terms of knowing clearly who’s behind them If it helps there are lots of us around on the left who do keep wanging on about it when we can. Currently it’s the Together Alliance or whatever it’s called which does seem to have the grubby mitts of various SWP groups all over it.

It is indeed. My response was to a poster who specifically referenced repeal of the act as a possible reason to support Lowe. I'd like to see the act repealed, but as a specific action its not nearly significant enough to even consider overlooking Lowe's misogyny and racism. Tbf, I'm not sure anything would be.

There aren't many feminists on here who will openly defend the SWP, but there are plenty of tribal leftists who really don't like their activities being mentioned, because that upsets their worldview saying that left wing people are nicer and specifically better for women.

I wouldn't dream of belittling women's concerns about TI. I share them entirely. However unlike some, I don't blatantly exploit them to garner support for equally dangerous misogynists.

I do not like Rupert Lowe. But Rupert is 68 and is well known not to write his own tweets, and I think he might be in for a surprise if he's confronted with the unvarnished views of the "clever young men" who he's pleased to see flocking around him. Are detention camps safe spaces for women? Because that's where they want to send women who aren't "ethnically British".

On page 103 of their deportation plan they propose changing the law to revoke citizenship and declare people "illegal" even if they were born here.

Their spokesman said on GB news that you need to be ethnically British and Christian to be considered British. So British women and girls who don't appear sufficiently white are in danger of having their citizenship revoked and being disappeared.
