Dr Upton is off to Australia it seems, after creating a toxic situation for women in NHS Fife, wonder if Dr Upton is going to be working in “ Gender Services “ down under ?

Rape victims are sent to SARCS Sexual Assault Referral Centres

You absolutely have the right to request an examination by female doctor and have the choice to wait if one is not currently available.

Wasn't the Six Word Amendment specifically about police forensic gynaecologist examiners?

SidewaysOtter · 15/02/2026 19:39

Ta-ra, mate.

Aluna · 15/02/2026 19:13

JustAnotherWhinger · 15/02/2026 14:38

Yes. Exactly.

And my very point was that Dr Upton considers that he should be classed as a female medical examiner in those circumstances, whereas people in my circumstances rely on Drs having integrity and acceptance that informed consent is important and respecting that a request for a female medic is a request for a biological female medic, not someone like him.

I couldn’t give a stuff what Dr Upton considers. I’m very clear if I am not comfortable with the gender of a practitioner I will say so whatever they consider themselves to be.

NHS Fife failed to take appropriate action. But their case would have been much harder to defend has they been supporting Dr Upton’s right to examine unwilling rape victim as a “female” doctor.

In Australia they will be falling over themselves to validate his gender identity. It's as bad as Canada. Pity the women having to live with this bollocks.

Depends where you are. In the hinterlands not so much.

If you had a collapse and she was the only doctor in sight (like on a plane) I bet you'd be quite happy to put your prejudices aside and have her treat you!

Except in the extraordinary and unusual circumstance of a collapse on a plane (which is unlikely ever to happen to me because I don't use the things), I'd be very chary about relying on just any old medic if I were injured or collapsed. For one thing, a trained medic may have no experience at all of whatever it is that is wrong.

My late MiL fell out of a first-floor window and landed on a paved area below it. The person who found her early in the morning, knowing that the man next door was a qualified MD, ran to him for help. While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, that doctor picked up the unconscious woman and carried her into the house in his arms to put her on a sofa.

Because of the damage he did to her spine in this way, she never walked again. He seems to have known no better: he had never had to deal with a spinal injury.

And there have been several cases in which qualified doctors, afraid that a car may explode even though that's extremely unusual in the absence of naked flame, have hauled people out of cars after an RTI and made their injuries worse by doing so. Give me an ambulance worker or a St John trained civilian any day!

In the case of Dr Upton, I think he's delusional, so I would prefer him not to treat me for a non-delusional, actual medical condition or emergency.

He took the medical training (presumably that bill was paid by the Scottish taxpayer as university in Scotland is free for Scottish residents), had his ideological day in the sun at the Scottish taxpayer's expense and is scarpering of to earn more money, in the sun?

To be fair, the government hasn’t been giving uk medical graduates any priority over foreign doctors applying from abroad for specialty training posts. This left nearly half of last year’s FY2 finishers unemployed as approx 11,000 of them were apply for around 10,000 training posts - designed as the next step in the uk training system after FY2 - in competition with over 25,000 foreign doctors (not resident in the UK). It looks like priority will be given back to uk graduates (though it is unclear whether this is for all posts) but there is a backlog of uk graduates wanting training positions. Priority means, like other jobs and every other country, training posts can only be offered to foreign doctors if there are no qualified uk applicants. Notoriety aside, Upton might well have found it difficult to find a training position.

Let’s hope he’s nowhere near the elderly either if an elderly patient with dementia ends up with a complaint against them for not calling him a woman. Heaven forbid the patient comes first.

FeralWoman · 15/02/2026 14:35

Oh FFS. We don’t want him here. Can we have Sandie instead? We always need more nurses, especially experienced ones.

I assume he’ll be heading for Melbourne or at least Victoria. It’s the centre of all of the gender ideology crap in this country.

Maybe he’ll peak Australia.

Mind you, if J Yaniv hasn’t peaked Canada, there’s not much hope.

Dancingsquirrels · 15/02/2026 17:49

Yes, I agree with your understanding

But "I'm sorry we have no female Dr's available, would you prefer to leave, wait or be treated by male Dr Upton?" is fine

"you requested a female Dr, so here's Dr Upton" is totally different

Narcissism has a strong place in transgenderism. I often wonder if it was trained into some as they went down the gender rabbit hole or if they all had those tendencies already and the ideology seemed like the answer to their inadequacy.

My relative was an established narcissist before he went MtF so that tracks

2021x · 15/02/2026 17:42

The situation is more complicated in Aus because TGW are legally seen as women thanks to Julia Gulliard.

More boringly, I suspect his contract has finished in Fife. There is a recruitment crisis for junior doctors making it hard to get a job in the UK at the next step on the career ladder.

Having been off sick for ages won't help his job applications, even though they are all done anonymised.

We export loads of doctors to Australia and New Zealand every year - if he can't get a job in Scotland, Australia is the obvious place to go, especially as he will know where to go for the highest level of trans protection.

Interesting to hear that a least some of the application process would be anonymised.

I do hope any potential employer does due diligence. We are talking about a doctor who:

  • Would spend a significant amount of working time on his phone, keeping notes about colleagues' behaviour
  • Is happy to override female consent, and happy for the world to know about it
  • Made up career-ending professional allegations against a colleague out of vindictiveness and malice
  • Tampered with legal evidence and was happy to present this to a tribunal, and to make colleagues who trusted him look like incompetent nincompoops
  • Is able to apply under either of two different names, and it's unlikely employers would be able to connect the two

Any such candidate would ring alarm bells for any manager

Fairly typical toxic male pattern behaviour, enjoys bullying a woman, but runs away when it doesn't go his way. Vile porn addled scrote, should never have been tolerated by the NHS which is supposed to treat everyone fairly.

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 15/02/2026 17:00

Yes he did say that

He said: I am biological, I am not a robot, and I am a woman, so I am a biological woman

The judge and panel accepted this and he was deemed a reliable witness

Shame on them Confused

Snootsnoot · 15/02/2026 17:06

The legalities of this are worrying, especially if he has applied under a female name to hide his records...

AMillionMugsNoTeabags · 15/02/2026 17:04

i was watching the tribunal live - he definitely said it, it’s not poor reporting or selective quotation.

Having watched all his evidence myself, I am still utterly utterly gobsmacked that he was viewed as a credible and reliable witness.

Upton described himself in court as a “biological woman”.

Did he seriously make that claim? Was it not challenged? Or did he at least say on what basis?

I think you have identified the only, and the very unlikely and extreme case, in which I'd be prepared to let DrU treat meSmile

In all other circumstances, I wouldn't want to be treated by a doctor with such a bizarre take on human physiology, who is clearly not entirely in touch with reality because he stated under oath that he is a biological woman, and who is quite upfront about his willingness to be deceptive about his sex to woman patients.

Thanks but no thanks, DrU.

As an employer, I'd be worried that his hypervigilance about slights, real or imaginary, and his litigiousness, would make him a tricky person to manage.

As a female colleague, if I was one who, unlike him, sticks to scientific rather than ideological definitions, I'd be concerned about my name appearing on the same roster as his, as it would be a nightmare to have to work alongside someone with so many limitations, professional and personal.

You use the word 'prejudice' - the word means a preconceived, and therefore unfair, opinion formed without any actual experience or facts.

None of us knew DrU from a hole in the ground before the NHSF tribunal, so you are incorrect to use the word 'prejudice' - my opinion of DrU is based on his own words, spoken under oath, to an Employment Tribunal.
That's not prejudice.

Edited

Yes, it was really something to behold. He argued over every single word with Naomi Cunningham and condescendingly told her the meaning of words as if she was the ignorant one.

He is a narcissist.

I’d have hoped we’d have moved past victim blaming and gained some understanding of coercive control, and the experiences of trans widows, on mumsnet but apparently not.

I hope Dr Upton never works in medicine again. He maliciously reported a hardworking colleague to his manager, he showed himself willing to ignore a female patient's request for a female doctor, and under cross-examination, by describing himself as a biological woman, he was either lying or displaying a quite remarkable ignorance of biological facts that would shame a five-year old.

I forgot about the 'making stuff up that could cost a colleague her reputation and her job' when I replied to Pithy.
It appears that Pithy has left us.. no surprise there.
