Mass Shooting in Tumbler Ridge Canada

Looks like it was a man in a dress. Another tragedy. More lives lost. Boys with violent tendencies cannot be told they are actually girls. The violent background of trans activism is a problem.

BREAKING

The identity of the Tumbler Ridge shooter can now be confirmed as Jesse “Jess” Strang.

Strang is a biological male who started to “identify” as a "girl" around 2023.

Strang was raised in a family that valued hunting, and began learning how to shoot rifles when he was just a child. Many guns were kept in the family's residence.

Facebook posts from his mother indicate he may have struggled with behavioral issues, including violent tendencies, from a very young age.

Strang fatally shot 10 people prior to taking his own life.

In 2021, Strang launched a YouTube channel that was promoted by his mother on her Facebook. The channel was dedicated to "hunting, self-reliance, guns" and his other interests. At some point, Strang deleted the content on the channel and changed his handle from "Jesse Boy" to "JessJessUwU." The only remaining post on the channel was made 6 months ago and reads "I've been pretty, um, aimless."

Even the Daily Mail say “the killer also shot herself dead at the school”; the Mail usually do better than that.

There are some corrections in the comments but clearly not all the readers are getting it.

Tumbler Ridge is a small remote mining town with a small RCMP detachment. So I'm (almost) willing to give a pass to the local police if they worded the "shelter in place" . What I'm not willing to overlook is the government's dysfunctional "progressive" policies and the cowardly mainstream media who won't report what they know. I find X a more up to date source of information now.

@TempestTost ‘Because internet gossip doesn't meet the standard the BBC would accept.‘

That does sound good. If they indeed adhere to the truth in such a steadfast way. However, I’m just looking over an article on a male murderer in Oxford with the adopted moniker of ‘Scarlet Blake’. This former Mr Wang, was convicted of murdering Jorge Martin Carreno. This male murderer is being referred to as ‘she’ by the BBC. Even after ‘Scarlet’ is known to be a man.

‘The trial heard she came to the UK from China aged nine, and came out to her parents as transgender at 12.’

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-68360122

Whatever the standards are, truth is not one of them in this example.

I think my point is that is is not just down to a reticence to be incorrect. They will happily print falsehoods. They are not alone, of course. If only they scrupulously adhered to a standard that held the truth at it’s core.

Scarlet Blake

Cat killer Scarlet Blake found guilty of murdering Jorge Martin Carreno

Scarlet Blake had a "fixation with violence" and "knowing what it would feel like to kill someone".

My 15 year old son said “can you believe a woman would do this” I said “no. I will put money on this being a trans woman”

Listening to the BBC earlier I thought so, too. Now confirmed.

Grammarnut · 11/02/2026 15:31

The BBC reported the shooter was a woman. This was probably before the sex was known, perhaps?
Canada is genderwoo wonderland, however, so no telling what the police might say since a TiM may legally be 'female'.

So true. Why do we accept wholeheartedly that affirming their disordered body issues to anorexics and bulimics is wrong because it is denying that anorexia / bulimia are mental illnesses, whereas affirming someone’s gender confusion by immediately offering irreversible chemical ‘solutions’ and surgery is fine because it is seen as ‘supporting someone be their true self’ not affirming a mental disorder .

In short, because trans advocacy groups worked long and hard - and in secret - to ensure that this was the case.

This is spot on and needs repeating.

I think what will happen is that the story will quickly disappear from the BBC and people who haven't paid close attention to this( ie most people) will think that it was a woman.

Unfortunately I think you're right. It will probably take a brave columnist at the Tel or the Times to write something that tells the truth.

I'm sure we all noticed how the BBC, having published several stories about the death of drag queen Darren Meah-Moore mysteriously failed to report on his inquest last week. You know, the inquest that revealed he'd died after being anally penetrated by a dog.

Chersfrozenface · 11/02/2026 15:16

They won't say anything for sure until the Canadian authorities do.

I am not normally a betting woman but I would lay good odds that the Canadian authorities will eventually announce that "female name", 17 years old, killed her mother and sibling and nine people at the school before killing herself.

And most of the Canadian and UK media will follow suit.

Lying toads that they are.

ETA: added word for clarity

My post was in response to a post saying that major press outlets have a higher standard of reporting than sm outlets. If this is a male in a dress, whilst being reported as a female in a dress, I fail to see the higher bar of verification.

Certainly, when all over the world, major press outlets do refer to male perpetrators as female. Whatever the reason, that is an outright lie.

Because internet gossip doesn't meet the standard the BBC would accept.

Initially they reported what the police said. They have now slightly modified it to say that the information in the alert hasn't been confirmed.

They won't say anything for sure until the Canadian authorities do. That's very standard practice.

HarryMaguireSlabHead · 11/02/2026 15:10

That's EXACTLY the BBC playbook.

Report the mass killing, reveal nothing about the gender identity. Then hide the story and provide the update that the killer was trans when it's no longer trending or on the homepage

its already pretty much disappeared from the Sky News front page!

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 11/02/2026 14:12

If they're not sure they should say 'suspect in a dress' it's not fucking rocket science.

I think if they said female in an alert they may well have had a report it was a woman. Which would likely be people reporting without a really clear look at the suspect.

However, I also think that by law they are probably not supposed to "misgender" so that could also be the issue.

I don't imagine they were over thinking though, they would have been working quickly. After the mass shooting in Nova Scotia a few years ago they are very quick to put out alerts.

HarryMaguireSlabHead · 11/02/2026 15:07

It's been reported everywhere that the killer is a man. His family have confirmed it. The BBC regularly says things like 'there are unconfirmed reports that ... BBC Verify is on the case'.

They could do that here and would look less silly. But they're choosing not to, and when it is confirmed that the killer is a man, they will deliberately avoid using pronouns for him.

If you're happy to fund that then you are the problem.

GrandMamaMe · 11/02/2026 15:06

@weegielass if accuracy matters, it's important we say what he was. A male. A man. A boy. all dependent on age.
His DNA was male. He was born a male, lived a male and died a pitiful excuse of a male.
He was never any type of female.. No type of girl. No type of woman.
He was a mentally ill deluded male you had delusions affirmed to him and cheered him on to pretend to be something he wasn't.

Call him what he was... He was a male. And a pathetic one at that.

It does in society. Many Canadians identify with Americans, they have the exact same culture and societal values of freedom, patriotism and entitlement to bear arms. They pledge allegiance to the American flag, they celebrate the 4th of July. Even if legally they separated from America or are not part of America yet, in my eyes they are one and the same.

Like hell we are!

And no we don't, we celebrate Canada Day on July 1st.

I'm not in the habit of defending the BBC - or any other media organisation - when they pretend that men are women. But in a situation like this, they will always wait to have confirmation from the authorities before they publish the shooter's name or sex. The whole confusion - and the nonsense about "female in a dress" - is the result of the authorities not being honest.

The authorities are delaying the announcement of the shooter's details, probably because they are all in a tizz about the fact that it's a trans-identified male and they can't agree on how to refer to him. It will be interesting to see how the BBC and others report it when they have accurate information.

GrandMamaMe · 11/02/2026 14:57

odd how Mumsnet once crucified any of us who dared to say men are never women and now an entire chat is acceptable.
For over a decade we said that this mental health epidemic of confused young men being flattered as stunning and braved and being confirmed in their delusions, would lead to violence and we were branded fascists and Nazis and banned from every platform where it's now totally acceptable - yet none of us were invited back on or received an apology when the rest of the world caught up!

Men are NEVER women. You can't all just say it when you don't want a murderer classed as a woman but then fawn and applaud when it's everywhere else! Men do not belong in women's spaces, not in sports, not in prisons, or hospital wards, not in refuges or clubs. Just because you may want the man you like, you don't get to forego every woman's wishes and celebrate them when you pick and choose.

And for heavens sake, it's about time we all grew up and stop using trans language when we all know that our language functions perfectly well - he was a man who murdered children. He wasn't EVER any type of woman. He was born a man, lived a man however he thought of himself and died a pathetic, weak, fearful, murdering man.
Stop pandering to him even in death!

This is the result of giving cross sex hormones and useless 'affirmation' to a turbulent teen who actually needed intensive psychiatric care.

This is what happens when mental illness gets rebranded as a totally normal and even positive thing. It stops being treated.

This is spot on and needs repeating.

I think this might be the thing that finally makes me stop paying the licence fee.

It's. A. Man.

A male crime.

The Daily Mail were doing exactly the same. Its a difficult one, but I think the BBC's past performance really is on show here in terms of trust issues. Theres very different expectations going on even though they are doing similar.

Even now the Mail is still going with

'a suspected female shooter before turning the gun on themselves' (which is still not grammarically right - it should be herself)

The problem is PREVIOUS cases and loss of trust and the persistence in acknowledging the issue at the same as not acknowledging it through these weasel words of coded language to convey the same point.

Its not like we DON'T know this is off. We can read and see it from the language used, but they aren't being direct about it.

DeanElderberry · 11/02/2026 14:41

DotAndCarryOne2 · 11/02/2026 13:54

So you would have preferred them to wait until they hade identified the shooters’ sex before issuing the shelter in place order, risking people’s lives ? They issued a description. If you see someone coming towards you fitting that description and carrying a gun, you’re not going to wait around to check whether they’re a man or a woman, you’re going to run. Had the police waited until everything had been fact checked and more people had died as a result, they would have been criticised for not acting on the initial information. Lose Lose.

Shelter in place.

There is an active shooter situation.

Suspect is ca 6' tall, has brown hair and may be wearing a dress.

No lie there, and no need for anyone to start guessing the sex of the person they've spotted coming down the street.

The BBC stuck to info from the Canadian Authorities (and note it has been night over there, so not surprising no clarifications). I don't think that is unreasonable.

Social Media often reports things first. But often also reports things incorrectly.
