Mass Shooting in Tumbler Ridge Canada

Looks like it was a man in a dress. Another tragedy. More lives lost. Boys with violent tendencies cannot be told they are actually girls. The violent background of trans activism is a problem.

BREAKING

The identity of the Tumbler Ridge shooter can now be confirmed as Jesse “Jess” Strang.

Strang is a biological male who started to “identify” as a "girl" around 2023.

Strang was raised in a family that valued hunting, and began learning how to shoot rifles when he was just a child. Many guns were kept in the family's residence.

Facebook posts from his mother indicate he may have struggled with behavioral issues, including violent tendencies, from a very young age.

Strang fatally shot 10 people prior to taking his own life.

In 2021, Strang launched a YouTube channel that was promoted by his mother on her Facebook. The channel was dedicated to "hunting, self-reliance, guns" and his other interests. At some point, Strang deleted the content on the channel and changed his handle from "Jesse Boy" to "JessJessUwU." The only remaining post on the channel was made 6 months ago and reads "I've been pretty, um, aimless."

@CompetitionMyArsei came here before reading any news or social this morning but the last thing I said last night to DH was this will somehow be our fault, JK will get a battering at some point, #bekind will be splattered everywhere like confetti it’s just sick

This being Canada, it's highly likely to be recorded as a crime committed by a woman.

There will inevitably be a long line apologists lining up with an outpouring of sympathy for this poor, misunderstood woman who was much maligned and rejected by a cruel, heartless proportion of mainstream society, which caused her to need to do this heinous thing. It was clearly a cry for help and an act of desperation against the unfairness of a world that refused to accept her as the authentic woman that she was .

We have all been warned that trans-identified people are at a high risk of suicide so we should hang our heads in shame that we didn't make life easier for her before she felt she had no choice but kill herself while murdering several others. Or some such shit.

Mark my words, tiktok and X and Threads will be full of it.

Quoting myself here, because as predicted, it's started.

Just seen this on tiktok this morning from an account called 'Charity'.

'To Conservatives in Canada:

This is not a time to vilify a marginalised group of people. Instead, use this tragedy to better understand the struggles of people that you choose to invalidate daily for being who they are.'

Ahh, so it's our fault.

Some cross dressing men are incredibly dangerous. These are facts. We need to talk about them.

As the UN notes Canada has form.

Reem Alsalem UNSR Violence Against Women and Girls

As I said in my report to the Human Rights Council in June 2025: "Particularly concerning is the fact that in a number of countries, such as.... Canada .... the judiciary and the media call male perpetrators of violence by their self-declared gender identity, thereby also skewing the rates of male and female offending. Since women commit a very low number of violent crimes, ....even small variations can have statistically significant effects. Those statistical anomalies have been detected already in Canada.... Neutral approaches to sex and gender also enforce victim blaming of women, minimize abuse, enforce male privilege and affect the ability of State and other actors to identify and define violence against females as primarily male violence, rendering it more difficult to combat."

Meanwhile the British Columbia Teacher's Federation is trying to evade the issue:

Nope. All up for a in depth discussion about all the issues mentioned here. But the fact is the immediate aftermath of the killing of innocent people is neither the time nor the place. Neither is the ridiculously self serving criticism of the police for their immediate description of the killer, which was based on eye witnesses calls. The sex or gender identity of the killer won’t be the uppermost thing in the minds of the victims’ families tonight. Several posts saying that posters immediate thoughts on hearing the news was ‘it’s a man’. Only on MN. In the real world the immediate thought is ‘God help the victims and their families’.

Edited

Only on MN. In the real world the immediate thought is ‘God help the victims and their families’.

If you follow the reporting links, you'll see, by the comments, that in the real world, people are very much concerned about the covering up the sex of this killer.

Especially as many people believe that this ideology seems to attract, or produce, violent, angry, woman hating men.

This knowledge and concern in no way detracts from the grief over the victims. It's horrifying.

IMO - traditional media deserves to fail with this he/she nonsense.

They are the anti science.

Like - mad, insane, flat-earthers, climate change deniers, and the earth was created in six days.

Literally , that is how low they are with this.

How can ANY rational, normal person can read them, listen to them or trust them on anything at all is beyond me at this stage - they get this so wrong.

The BBC used to say they'd rather wait and be last with the news, but get it right, rather than be first and get it wrong. This was what was meant to distinguish them from reactionary tabloids/ social media - they were slow but reliable. They never apply this to gender. And then they have the brass neck to complain people are getting their news from social media now.

fromorbit · 12/02/2026 04:38

Great analysis as normal. The attempt to do a coverup of these cases is failing.

Don’t mistake us. Those of us who called for the authorities and the media for clarity on the sex of the killer at Tumbler Ridge are not minimising the deaths of nine people in one of Canada’s deadliest mass shootings. We’re saying it’s what happens when the information is withheld.

As Gerald Posner clarifies:

‘This is not a minor semantic dispute. In high-profile crimes, accurate reporting matters. Biological sex is a data category used in criminology, public policy, and statistical analysis. Erasing it, or substituting identity categories without clarity, distorts public understanding’

It means that instead of analysing - again - what leads people to commit heinous crimes like this, and whether sex, or factors around trans identification could have been a driver, we are wasting time trying to find out whether the killer was a man at all, never mind whether he identified as the opposite sex. Legacy media will address neither.

It was Cosmin Dzsurdzsa and Juno News that broke the story it was a trans killer. It spread on X and it was soon picked up by Reduxx. As seen at the start of this thread.

The news was then spread by Western Standard a larger conservative Canadian newsite. See their news report here. Note time stamp:
https://www.westernstandard.news/news/breaking-at-least-7-dead-25-injured-after-female-shooter-opens-fire-in-tumbler-ridge/71081

Interestingly as the news spread on X the next mainstream outlets to share it looks to be Indian media like the Times of India.

Cosmin Dzsurdzsa

If it weren’t for X and elonmusk enabling the spread of independent journalism like what we do at junonewscom
, we wouldn’t know about Jesse Strang at all. When I reached out to Jesse Strang’s immediate family last night, I genuinely didn’t expect anyone to reply, let alone his uncle confirming both his identity as the shooter and that he was transgender.

I reached out because that’s what basic journalism demands: verification through primary sources. That used to be standard practice. It was the only thing I could do while the police refused to verify basic details about the killer's identity.

Now, nearly 24 hours after this horrific attack, establishment media outlets are still pretending they don’t know what everyone else and their grandma already does. To their discredit, they refuse to report the killer’s identity because it complicates their preferred narrative around the trans movement.

Instead of informing the public, they’re protecting a shooter’s preferred sensibilities in service of an ideology. Legacy media has chosen activism over responsibility. They would rather people live in a fiction than force an uncomfortable conversation or admit inconvenient truths.

"It's 4 am, got out of the psyche ward like a month ago and now I'm here. I'm not schizophrenic, unlikely to be Bi-polar. Diagnosed with ADHD, MDD, ASD, and OCD.’

Autism is shooter bingo, but the worst bit is ‘out of the psych ward’.

What is MDD?

In NZ it’s being reported as her. The gender stuff is a little bit more nuanced than the UK, but I wonder if this headline will cause some heat.

They are so often the violent ones, the ones who threaten women, speak of violence at 'meetings' and 'rallies', comment on women's "egg shell skulls", call for the decapitation of 'terfs' yet paint themselves as victims, poor downtrodden, vulnerable souls
These things can't both be true at the same time, can they?
Enough.
People need to wake up
Those poor school children; (and JS/JVR's mum and step-brother) they need to be the priority here.

Delphinium20 · 12/02/2026 01:15

Remember, the gunman in the Annunciation School Shooting August 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota was also a young man who believed he was a woman and had struggled with mental health despite parents affirming him, including his mother signing a legal document to change his name from Robert to Robin Westman.

Culturally and politically similar to Canada, Minnesota has affirmed trans identities and is one of the more high-trust, inclusive states regarding gender identity. Inclusion and high-trust only work when you're dealing with people who are of sound mind and don't operate like narcissists.

I believe that trans identity itself is both narcissistic in nature and indicative of mental illness. Not all trans-identifying people will be killers, but I would argue most of them have cluster B traits.

PaterPower · 12/02/2026 01:02

Didn’t this thread start out on AIBU? Why’s it been moved to the ‘naughty step’ like this? (rhetorical question - we all know it wouldn’t have been hidden if the shooter was a run-of-the-mill, acne ridden incel called Norbert).

It’s a topic of wider interest, being discussed on news channels globally. But, purely because he chose to wear a frock, (rather than army fatigues or a leather trenchcoat) whilst doing his murdering, it’s got to be moved off the main site sharpish 🙄

A number of questions need to be asked about how this ended up in a mass killing. Was it appropriate that he was left at home / cared for as an outpatient, for instance, or should he have been sectioned?

Why did the Police allow his parents to keep guns again, when reports say a number of weapons had been seized on a previous intervention? If the guns weren’t his parents’ then how did he get hold of them?

GrooveArmada · 12/02/2026 00:54

I knew the moment this was posted this was not a woman.

I'm disgusted, promoting this movement is increasing MH difficulties amongst a group of individuals that are already experiencing them. The result is plain to see. The world needs to wake up.

Glad to see finally some reporting says it how it is: it was a man, dressed up.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 11/02/2026 23:08

In addition to all of the above, it's quite usual in some trans communities to have 'kill terfs' signs with guns on. There was an American politician who wore a 'protect trans kids' t-shirt with a knife on it. A clear threat. These sort of t-shirts seem absolutely accepted and common. It's normalisation of violence. Some trans groups promote violent criminal activity - e.g. 'bash back' who smashed up Wes Streeting's office and the Filia conference (whilst women were attending).

Lt. Governor's Shirt Implies Physical Violence Against Parents - Morning Report News

Up with indigestion and made the mistake of following the rabbit-hole above, so I guess I am still posting. Feeling a bit hypocritical (and conflicted)! I've never posted "live" about an attack like this before - I tend to find a lot of realtime commentary quite ghoulish and disrespectful (and I hate "true crime"), so feel a bit guilty with each post... But this just doesn't feel the same, I think we all agree. The knowledge that the MSM have done everything they possibly can to obscure the killer's trans identity somehow makes it feel not just legitimate but almost necessary to discuss (and maybe raise awareness to some small degree?!) And yes, tbh, posting does also feel cathartic, in a sense - because witnessing MSM do this to this degree - with such mulish persistence - is, honestly, pretty frightening.

So (disclaimer now complete)...

The article linked above itself includes this link, to the company producing the t-shirt: https://transfigureprintco.com/. And the products foregrounded on the first page of the shop are eye-openingly focussed on gothy violence.

I've found it interesting when people have drawn parallels between this and Goth/Emo culture, and this seems to make them quite explicit...

...Which leads to thoughts of Columbine...

...Which itself conversely leads to accusations of so-called moral (and Satanic!) panics...

BUT

Those kids didn't have the whole of society's weighty infrastructure telling them that Yes, they are, indeed, cruelly sidelined due to sheer, unadulterated prejudice. Not even that, in fact, but rather that they're a target, at quite extreme physical risk.

I do think this angle must be, at least potentially, relevant. Should be considered, at least.

I mean, the following is what my local school shared with staff (and, I assume, kids) as a key resource for supporting "transgender" students: https://letsqueerthingsup.com/2014/09/15/what-youre-actually-saying-when-you-ignore-someones-preferred-gender-pronouns/. Here are a few choice excerpts from this "translation" of what the teacher or peer who doesn't use your chosen pronouns is truly "saying" to you:

2. I would rather hurt you repeatedly than change the way I speak about you.
3. Your sense of safety is not important to me.
5. I want to teach everyone around me to disrespect you.
10. I am not an ally, a friend, or someone you can trust.

This would be the same school that shared a resource with the kids linking directly to Fallon Fox as a trans role model. You know, Fallon Fox of, "One woman's skull was fractured, the other not. And just so you know, I enjoyed it. See, I love smacking up TEFS (sic) in the cage who talk transphobic nonsense." fame.

The narrative of necessarily violent struggle is a fundamental part of trans culture and mythology. You can't really deny it when you have a San Francisco Public Library exhibition on the subject featuring mass-produced, "I punch TERFs" t-shirts (and hear the same clarion call of Sarah Jane Baker, speaking to loud applause at a British rally) and pink and blue wire-wrapped baseball bats.

This is not a healthy movement. There's a genuine sickness to it (note - to the ideology, not necessarily the members) that we really need to address as a society. And this is to protect its members, too (someone above said they don't see the shooter as a victim; I do, to a degree).

We need to turn a spotlight on it all. But this needs full transparency on the part of our institutions. Maybe recent events will help to turn the tide, Bryson-style...

I don’t understand how the victims sex were named quite quickly but somehow this dangerous male’s wasn’t . But pretty sure I know why. Sickened by yet another lethal man killing his mother ( this happens a lot) and actual vulnerable children. And sickened by the mealy mouthed and lying commentary from the press.

Sky describing attacker in headlines as "born male and identifying as a woman" just now

It's an improvement on the lie that the shooter was a woman.

However, men can never actually "identify as a woman" because they haven't got a clue what "being a woman" is.

The best they can do is perform a male fantasy of what a woman "should" dress like and how a woman "should" behave - according to men.

Most of them fail miserably even at this and just end up looking exactly like what they are: hideous parodies of women.

Daily Mail now calling him “a gunman … who also killed his mother and sister” which is refreshing after the Guardian’s tongue twisting (never thought I’d hear myself say it)

I used to be a regular reader of the Guardian until they were captured.
Then it became unbearable to read their clap-trap.

For all its faults, the Daily Mail was one of the first newspapers to use correct sex when referring to trans-identified males in the news.
