This often comes up on threads. So not sure if it is the most accurate but here is one report on the number of trans people murdered in 2025.

Brazil had the highest number of trans people murdered in 2024; however, this year, the country reported 34% less murders, down from 122.

Globally, there were 281 reports of murders of trans and gender-diverse people in 2025, 90% of the victims were trans women and 88% of trans people murdered last year were Black or Brown.

68% of murders of trans people took place in Latin America and the Caribbean. Europe saw five murders while the US reported 31, down from 2024’s figure of 41.

That doesn't help their victim narrative though, does it?

Considering that there is no UK Women's Day of Remembrance, it would seem rather strange to ignore the 155 women who were murdered in England and Wales in the year ending March 2025.
Just saying this as a bloke.

Odd post. Are you suggesting that any time we contribute to a particular unfortunate incident / accident / assault / death and so on, that we mark all others that have suffered the same fate?

A murder two years ago is irrelevant to a discussion of murders last year. I’m not sure what point you imagine you’re making.

I’ll agree with you here, to this particularly thread, it is irrelevant. I’m genuinely flabbergasted though that you’re working so hard on this point to calendar years… it works for you that BG was murdered a few months out of your window

Back when twitter was twitter a US man took the prior years (2+) DoR US list and pulled each public police crime report and linked media.

From memory
The majority were not white.
Majority TIM
The most were solved /had a main suspect

Common factors included
DV from a male partner
Poverty
Suspected gang/ drug dealing (including partner) link
Prostitution

There may have been 1 or 2 where being a TIM was a clear factor but not the only factor homophobia etc may have been an issue too.

Overall stranger danger was low

If not living in poverty and/or white there was much lower risk of murder.

He did the maths for black males and black TIM and Black TIM was a safer demographic.

His years could have been unusual or a trackable slice of a pattern.

So knowing any additional factors are important to assess population % when looking at any data.

The recent UK stats on murders are in the article I linked to in this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5487018-homicide-in-england-and-wales-year-ending-march-2025-ons

I agree with all those posting about how harmful the hysterical myth about violence against trans people is.

And usually when starting a thread based on a newspaper article I just use their headline.

Perhaps I should have titled the thread "Good news, murder of trans people has been widely exaggerated"

And that was one of the reasons for linking to the article, because it comes up so many times about how trans people suffer more violence that any one else.

But as also said, any violent death is horrible.

And not only for the vicitm but for survivng family and friend it must be really disturbing to have the person they knew being exploited in this way.

I searched "number of murders in Brazil in 2025".

The AI response was "the number of trans murders..."

I was like wtf my search wasn't even about trans and that's the response you have given?

Total bullshit.

Yes but when you get that sort of stuff you need to correct them and say that isn't what i asked.

As I said, unfortunately AI like google itself now produces "informaton" based on what is most popular.

So sadly like wikkipedia and all the other virtual "resources" women are left having to correct the biases on men.

Angry

I've worked through the numbers for UK and US several times in the past and the results have tended to be that transwomen face a risk broadly on a par with women and much less than other men.

Yes, and that holds across races.

Hoardasurass · 07/02/2026 14:29

@nauticant its a well known cult tactic to claim that those outside of the cult want to harm or kill cult members. This is done to create a them vs us mentality alone with reinforcing cult bonds and doctrine whilst severing outside ties. Its all part of brainwashing cult members and its outrageous that such tactics are being used openly by schools, businesses, governments and support/pressure groups and charities, it shows us how deep the rot has gone

thestudio · 07/02/2026 14:12

As everyone has said - Brazil will likely have the highest number of sex worker murders too. Possibly also the highest number of murders of women. All that can be deducted is that Brazilian men are more murderous than others and that the people having sex with Brazilian men are in danger.

i wonder in Europe whether the chance of being murdered if you're a transwoman is higher or lower than if you're a woman.

ginasevern · 07/02/2026 14:06

thirdfiddle · 07/02/2026 00:21

These figures should give trans people, particularly in Europe, a lot of confidence that they are safe going about their lives, as safe as anyone else if not more so. That there's no epidemic of anti-trans violence.

Safer than women in fact.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 13:25

I doubt reliably robust info would be available specifically for the number of trans identified males in prostitution in Brazil, or the number of women come to that. But it’s been established before in other data that it carries a higher risk of violence including murder, for fairly obvious reasons.

Fancycrab · 07/02/2026 13:03

I doubt these trans women were murdered for being trans. Much more likely they were murdered because they were sex workers, therefore easy targets sadly. I don’t know the stats (maybe someone else does) but I doubt there’s much difference in the number of trans sex workers murdered compared to the number of female sex workers murdered. Or even male sex workers

What does this have to do with feminism?

This post is on the wrong board.

This board gets a lot of whataboutisms from the TRA community as drive by scolding or by some skewed data.

If there is one thing to nobody can deny about the posters here on MN it is that they do their homework.

YouAndMeDays · 07/02/2026 12:55

When we are told, time after time after time, that TIMs are the most vulnerable members of society, this is a very relevant discussion for women who are tired of being gaslit.

It's sad how some allies of the trans community seem to be exercised in making that community in places like the UK fear that they're facing an elevated risk of murder.

I can't think this is helpful to the mental health of those in that community.

As well as grossly manipulating the suicides and suicide risk to transgender people.

YouAndMeDays · 07/02/2026 12:40

Tragic as BG's murder was, do you know why it's always brought up by certain people? Because there aren't any other instances in the UK to discuss.

@HoardasurassBrianna Ghey was murdered, spookily almost two years to this day

One can get the impression that some trans allies don't view trans people so much as people as more a resource to be exploited for ideological ends. They also do the same with women.

It's not very kind is it?

Shitpostingly spookily obviously not very kind when the basic facts widely reported during the trial are a simple google away.

WarriorN · 07/02/2026 12:24

IndigoBluey · 07/02/2026 02:52

regardless of the fact they did not murder their first intended victim, they did murder BG. like I said, 2 years almost to this day, it was 11 February 2023. Semantics really talking about 24 months difference but clutch on to what you will. A transgender was murdered, it is really very clear.

a child was murdered by other children.

horrific and not part of this conversation
