It needs to be a place where the victims and those looking after them feel that they can speak. Then hopefully lawyers will have material that they can take forward for prosecutions.

They've said there will be a report. They have a lawyer and they hope to pursue prosecutions, given this fact there may be some evidence they don't wish to publicize at this point.

In addition they do seem to be putting survivors first (in contrast to the government shambles) so it may be only some consent to video being shared. I personally would see a difference between giving evidence and it being shared on social media. I'm sure there's a plan. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also, relative to the usual government cost of these things, they're doing it on a shoestring.

It's beyond shameful that the Government has been so useless that it needed a crowd funded inquiry.

I assume they cannot publicise the specific venue for security reasons (though it says central London) as many of the survivors and families will still have absolutely reasonable security fears . Let's not forget there are powerful people in the police and other public institutions who allowed this to happen who have a very strong vested interest in their testimony not being heard. Not to mention many of the male abusers in organised gangs who still walk free.

Ideally sit through all the evidence.

Horrific police inaction described by a father today. He was told to go away because he didn't live in the right area even though he knew where his daughter was and thought she might be being abused and it was just down the street from the police station. The police basically just refused to do their job and his daughter has been destroyed. He said she was a character before, she's not now.

Listening to this, what parent would bother trying to go official routes in the future? What's the point? They told him to stop reporting her missing. The utterly evil, evil bastards. They all need to be fired.

I looked on facebook (the videos are there on Rupert Lowe's account as well as on X) and lots of parents commenting they'd just kick the door in, then lots of comments under that saying 'the police would turn up THEN, but not for a child being raped, eh?'.

Thank you to the parents and victims speaking out - it is much needed but it must take an enormous amount of bravery.

Oh and Rupert Lowe said the BBC is refusing to cover it. I googled 'rape gang inquiry BBC' and got no results. So much for being a public broadcaster. I knew they were paedophile apologists but the lack of BBC coverage still shocked me. It's a very big news story. Weird that Epstein is being covered but not this (or maybe not because it's not UK public institutions implicated in child rape there is it?). Wonder how long the public broadcaster will refuse to cover such an important public interest story.
