I would also point out that women who withdrew from the government’s enquiry because they felt it was set up to produce a particular set of results and dictated how/what they could speak about were happy to engage in this, presumably because this felt to them to allow them a more authentic voice. I assume they would have done the same with this process if they didn’t have confidence in it.

Which really fucking says something about our government doesn’t it.

Indeed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/02/2026 04:21

It also makes the problem they are complaining about worse. People aren’t stupid. They can see there’s been a cover up by the people in charge, just like with Epstein. Continuing to avoid it looks terrible.

The fact that this has been used for political point scoring (what issues aren't? ) does not mean the inquiry “has no value”. How arrogant. The reason it’s been like an open goal for the right wing is because the left and centre right have failed these thousands of girls so dramatically.

Never understood this attitude, who cares who’s raising it, it’s simple, has a crime been committed? Yes or no? It’s as simple as that. Who gives a shit who’s raising it. If we want to be civilised thats what we have to do, this tribal attitude of “my group could be harmed of I tackle child rape therefore I’m going to try to ignore it” just leads to degeneracy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/02/2026 04:13

Absolutely this.

Bringemout · 08/02/2026 04:11

It would be nice if people stopped using this as an opportunity to accuse people of political point scoring. The focus should be entirely on the fact that there was a massive institutional failure here and what we do do correct it, hold people to account in whatever way that needs to be done, whether they were abusers or enablers and to make sure the police are actually doing their job today. This is a grotesque injustice and every rapists needs to be found. Every police officer, every social worker, every doctor, every politician who knew and did nothing or worse helped needs to be shitting themselves. Bring on the private prosecutions.

We also just need to build more prisons tbf. We’ve basically legalised holding CSA, we need to make more space for all the perverts.

I’m a woman and I’m not boycotting x, frankly the behaviour of some womens groups recently has hardly covered them in glory (bit of light anti-semitism and rape denial anyone…)

Well it probably would get more, but as it is being held in secret, with only limited public info, and worse as in the Lowe comment above being filtered through those wanting to score political points, losing what value it should have.

ie hearing the voices of survivors directly.

I just feel really sad that in the end this will achieve nothing because it will just be about political point scoring.

Gross

You never thought it should happen in the first place, so don’t pretend you care about the survivors’ voices.

WhaleEye · 07/02/2026 19:53

Emily Maitlis accused Rupert Lowe of being racist for suggesting Pakistani men were culprits and the BBC are barely giving it any air time. Those poor women - even during an enquiry MSM is too afraid/unwilling to speak of the elephant in the room.

Nothing to do with being superior. If you are aware of what is going on in the world, most women, including women's groups are boycotting X.

Why would any woman, saying they are a feminist or interested in women's issues continue to support Musk.

Would you go into a strip joint because sometimes there is interesting discussion there?

Its like years ago when there was some man's magazine ie sleezy pictures of women, men would justify going on subscribing because every now and then some well know writer would write an article for them.

Its about solidarity with other women.

And there is something rather obscene about the idea that survivor's voices are only available via a source that exploits women.

And I would say this to JKR should I somehow bump into her.

Added to which, as it has the least number of users why use that platform instead of one which is more used and more accessible.

Maybe then are also on YouTube which would make more sense.

You've covered all this on a previous thread you started. Are you attempting to derail your own thread now. It's an insult to the victims.

Out of interest India Today managed to cover the launch of the Inquiry.

Why would I be on X? Apart from the taint of Musk, X is one of the least subscribed to SM platform.

X is a cul de sac where the same small group of people interact with each other.

Hardly qualifies as outreach.

"Why would I be on X?"

I think that you may be shooting yourself in the foot with that attitude.

Also, I note from your OP that you said:

From Rupert Lowe
x.com/i/status/2020016459376623669

A few reflections on our first week of inquiry hearings.

Firstly, and I’ll be entirely honest, it’s harder than I thought it would be.

I cannot adequately describe the evil that these girls have gone through. Rape doesn’t do it justice.

It’s torture, it’s abduction, it’s war.

What strikes me is the consistency of the testimonies. It’s the same playbook, almost every time. We suspect there is FAR more coordination than is currently understood. Far more. The same names come up, with the same tactics, in the same towns. They are organised. More organised than we know. It’s almost like a well-drilled army. And it continues today, make no mistake about that.

What’s so difficult is that the men use both physical and psychological torture to beat these girls into submission. They accept it. They believe it’s the right thing for them. That’s what makes it so wicked for families. Some have been fortunate, escaping or being extracted. But how many haven’t? How many remain trapped, today? Some even overseas. How many girls have been abducted to Pakistan?

Where honestly, the thought of their life there is too much to even start to comprehend.

One woman we spoke to was raped by 600 - 700 men in England. What would be happening to them there?

The systemic failures across the police, NHS, social care, local politics, councils - specific and brutal examples of how these officials just did not care. Even worse, actively enabled the rape.

Of course the girls hold such deep hatred for their rapists, but actually for many the true anger is aimed at the state. I understand that. These were the people tasked to defend them, and they failed in the most brutal way.

As I have said, we are identifying targets for private prosecutions and other legal action - this will cover the rapists, accomplices and public officials who deliberately turned the other way, or worse.

One message is clear - the Muslim community needs to do far more to root these people out. I don’t believe the reaction is anywhere near strong enough. We had one testimony this week of the imam being fully aware of what was happening, but did nothing. This comes up again and again. Nobody wants to say it, but it’s true. I want to see these so-called ‘community leaders’ very vocally act.

The vast scale of the rape is impossible to comprehend.

It was everywhere. It is everywhere.

These are just my thoughts, but everything will be put into a comprehensive report by our legal team.

It’s been a challenging week for the team, and I want to say thank you to all involved - particularly our safeguarding team who are working all hours to ensure the survivors have the support they need. Everything we are releasing has the full permission of the individuals involved, and we are taking absolutely zero risks with any release. The safety and wellbeing of the participants is our only priority.

Thank you to all of our donors who made this possible, and those who continue to give. It is appreciated. It will be well spent, I promise you that.

And to the survivors who have put themselves forward to stop the same fate happening to others - you’re doing more good than you will ever know.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 05/02/2026 07:47

The thing is, if I didn't know what I know (independently verified facts from multiple other sources) I'd think that father was making it up because the inversion of values that we, as citizens, are supposed to believe in and follow ourselves is just unbelievable. The bit where he almost breaks down is heartbreaking.

The grooming gang facts break the social contract.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/02/2026 07:38

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 04/02/2026 20:35

Every single politician should have to listen to Sammy Woodhouse's opening address in full.

Ideally sit through all the evidence.

Horrific police inaction described by a father today. He was told to go away because he didn't live in the right area even though he knew where his daughter was and thought she might be being abused and it was just down the street from the police station. The police basically just refused to do their job and his daughter has been destroyed. He said she was a character before, she's not now.

Listening to this, what parent would bother trying to go official routes in the future? What's the point? They told him to stop reporting her missing. The utterly evil, evil bastards. They all need to be fired.

I looked on facebook (the videos are there on Rupert Lowe's account as well as on X) and lots of parents commenting they'd just kick the door in, then lots of comments under that saying 'the police would turn up THEN, but not for a child being raped, eh?'.

Thank you to the parents and victims speaking out - it is much needed but it must take an enormous amount of bravery.

Oh and Rupert Lowe said the BBC is refusing to cover it. I googled 'rape gang inquiry BBC' and got no results. So much for being a public broadcaster. I knew they were paedophile apologists but the lack of BBC coverage still shocked me. It's a very big news story. Weird that Epstein is being covered but not this (or maybe not because it's not UK public institutions implicated in child rape there is it?). Wonder how long the public broadcaster will refuse to cover such an important public interest story.

Shocking.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/02/2026 07:37

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 05/02/2026 00:17

Survivors didn't want to be controlled by politicians, they wanted their stories heard.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to assume this means they're all therefore OK with live streaming of their testimony. I suspect there will be a range of views on that. Which may be why we're seeing this 'clip' approach (it may be down to the individual to consent - they may consent to some bits of testimony being released and other bits not being released).

There are many methods of being heard publicly.

And yes there are likely resource issues too.

Edited

I agree with this.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 05/02/2026 00:17

IwantToRetire · 04/02/2026 23:02

But this doesn't tally with the survivors who have said they are sick and tired of not being able to be heard publicly.

The possibility that it will be implied that their testimonies have been edited in some way is just what they dont need.

This isn't a counselling session or a support service.

This is what (some) survivors have wanted to happen.

Them being allowed a public voice without political interests manipulating their experience to score points.

Survivors didn't want to be controlled by politicians, they wanted their stories heard.

EmeraldRoulette · 04/02/2026 23:07

@IwantToRetire i'm sure unedited versions will be available and put forward to anyone who can help legally.

This isn't a government backed inquiry so it's kind of new territory, isn't it? Apologies if I've misunderstood anything. The victims will have been consulted with in terms of how they want to do things. Then again, I suppose there may also be resource issues.
