If the solution to prejudice of every disliked minority was 'everyone gets their own space,' we would be above a dozen spaces by now.

It’s nothing to do with being liked or disliked.
It’s everything to do with safeguarding. Where children are in a state of undress, then girls should be separated from males. Where a child needs their own facilities due to a disability then that should also be provided. There are solutions that safeguard everyone, including trans or disabled children (changing elsewhere, or once the rooms have been vacated or using a third space are all examples of how all children can be safeguarded and maintain their privacy. Forcing them to share spaces does not achieve that.

I tried responding to keeptoiletssafe and my post was removed. It would seem gender critical people prefer to ignore trans people's experiences and instead throw accusations at straw men.

The trans men I've met used men's facilities. They joined men's groups and participated in men's recreational sport. But beliefs are beliefs, I understand.

Try again. I didn’t see it. I have spent lots of time looking at what the best designs are for everyone - I want everyone to be safe. That’s why I do this research.

My research is based on several years of evidence. My research findings are not a belief. I wouldn’t say anything I could not back up. I collect data, analyse it and present evidence. I have discussed toilet design with designers, manufacturers, architects, police, government officials, train station staff, cleaners, ambulance staff, other medics, scientists, academics, BSR, HSE, health charities, aid charities, women’s charities, politicians, fire service etc etc. I could write 3 volumes about what happens in non domestic toilets in this country.

Please tell me about the transmen who use men’s facilities. What kind of facility is this? Nightclub? Pub? Station? Schools? Is it toilets or changing rooms? I am intrigued as it is unusual. Did they have any options? What did they say about their experience? What did the men think?

Then please would you answer nine yes or no health and safety questions for me, on design, in return?

These are the yes or no questions so very quick to reply:
Q1) is it a good thing we have a programme of rolling out defibrillators across schools, venues and workplaces so that we have a timely and best chance of surviving if we collapse? ‬

‪Q2) is it important that the place where you go when you feel ill is safe?‬

‪Q3) and in a non-domestic situation that would often be the toilet cubicle?‬

‪Q4) so is it important that you would be found as quickly as possible in the toilet cubicle if the illness increased in severity to the point you suddenly collapsed?‬

‪Q5) so if toilets were all enclosed in full height ceiling-to-floor rooms that were resistant to the passage of sound, do you agree that could lead to delays finding someone who had collapsed?‬

‪Q6) so if we get rid of all the single sex designs that have door gaps to instead make them inclusive of gender, that would mean everyone was more at risk at their most vulnerable?‬

‪Q7) and would those people with invisible disabilities (conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, POTS) be as safe in the workplace if only enclosed toilets were available?

‪Q8) and would women and children who were led or pushed back into a toilet room be less likely to be rescued in time if there was no knowledge of what was going on in the toilet room?

‪Q9) so would single sex toilets that were in a single sex environment (and had door gaps) also be a preventative measure for sexual assaults on women and children?‬

‪I have studied toilet safety for years now and know the healthiest and safest design for the most vulnerable: the medically vulnerable, women and children. It is the single sex design, which is the one that can have door and partition gaps (typically up to 15cm from floor-door and space above the door and partitions). But this design becomes floor-to-ceiling enclosed when both sexes are in the space in front of the toilet door.‬

‘Inclusive’ designs are least bad for healthy men. Healthy men are least likely to understand the need for safe toilet and changing room design.

I've already agreed that no one should ever be forced to be naked in front of another person.

I continue to be shocked to learn any institution in this day and age would be forcing 13 year olds to be naked in front of anyone. Has anyone told the authorities? Based on this board, I would have suspicions that nakedness isn't the real focus.

That's a really sneaky response. You certainly know how to play the game. I guess you've had plenty of time to practice.

Bloody hell. Me me me. What about me. This is what it was like for me.

This thread is advocating for teenage girls. Your current and previous experience is utterly unrelated. We are safeguarding teen girls. You go advocate for trans teens to have their own space. But leave those of us with an iota of critical thinking to make sure girls are safe. And that means not getting undressed in front of male peers which you are supporting.

And really, you’re the only TRA on this thread. There are always several who appear to come and scold. Even the usual suspects have realised that supporting an action which forces a 13 year old girl's be naked in front of 13 year old males isn’t a good look!

The answer you are fishing for is:

Make pathways to and through transition harder than anything anyone should ever successfully accomplish. Begrudgingly allow those very uncommon few to overcome the cultural hurdles, source resources, convince skeptical medical providers and make it through to a subjective and highly regulated socially invisible and isolated post-transition life.

This was what my life was like 40 years ago. You wish to send everyone back to the 1980s.

No.

Mate, you've unlawfully been using women's intimate spaces without their consent for 40 years.

Places where they go to clean up leaked milk, to deal with period floods, to be sick when they're pregnant, to miscarry, to get away from men.

It doesn't get more oppressing.

This is your belief.

I was a trans child.

I was apparently an uncommonly tenacious person. I've met maybe two others in my life prior who shared my experience. Our experience is not representative of anyone else's. Being trans is incredibly challenging in ways non-trans people have never been able to convey understanding to me. It is also obvious that trans people have innumerable experiences prior to transition.

The state of NHS trans clinics has had the unexpected result of returning us to the world of 'non-prescribed' HRT that was popular in the 70s and 80s. If gender critical people continue to revert supportive programs and laws, I suspect the trans youth of today may have a lot more in common with me than with anyone from the most recent 20 years or so.

I don't understand a lot of trans experiences. I don't have to. I don't care about true trans or not. That stuff didn't exist 40 years ago. If you say you're trans you're trans. If you say you're not trans, you're non trans.

There's all sorts of trans in-fighting about purity that doesn't concern me and probably shouldn't concern non-trans people.

Oh and "unnecessary" and "unethical" are your beliefs.

Take some responsibility. You just said but I would... But have zero solution and zero explanation above "well I..."

Can you actually get through a post without centring yourself and thinking of others?

You can not have your cake and eat it here. You either are for safeguarding or you are not. Which is it?

If you want to wang on about how we should support trans people and stop non trans people you need more than that. Otherwise we safeguard by stopping all unnecessary and unethical surgery UNTIL we can work out who really is trans BEFORE we start medicalisation because this is the principle of 'Do no harm'.

There is no half in half out make it up as you go along and hope you got it right option.

This also applies to facilities for girls and women. Since we can't tell - but your own admission - who is true trans and who is not we need to keep out all trans.

That includes you. We have no way of knowing if you are true trans or non trans. You admit this. Even then it's not appropriate for to be there because we deserve privacy and dignity and women have no means by which to object if they feel uncomfortable.

I will apologise to say I cannot believe your characterisation of the situation based on what I understand as gender critical beliefs.

Which part of the situation changes based on your understanding of gender critical beliefs?

Is there a male running a fund raising or
is there not a male running a fund raising ?

If the objective is not to force the OPs girl into having males in
▪︎ her shower area
▪︎ her changing room and
▪︎ her toilet block
what do you think the objective is if that male is running his fund raising?

Please do expand on what your belief is regarding that males motivation and as for any money raised what it may be spent on .....

Let's play a game of 'how do we decide who is trans and who is not'

The Tavistock failed miserably at this challenge.

Perhaps you can crack on and give us a definition of how we tell the difference between true trans and not trans in a scientific way that no one else before you who is medically qualified has managed so far.

Good luck.

My only answer to you is the presence of a trans child or adult is not a sex offence.

Yes, there is the Supreme Court decision that specified sex for some contexts, but not all. Your beliefs extend far beyond the decision.

Well bless.

Are you are too busy doing you to realise the thread is discussing safeguarding the OPs girl?

That a male is running that fundraise with the objective of forcing the OPs girl into having males in
▪︎ her shower area
▪︎ her changing room and
▪︎ her toilet block

The OPs child is being subjected to Bullying and subjected to Coercive Control. The fund raising is openly advocating for current Bullying and Coercive Control to continue.

The objective is that a male has access to her while she in
▪︎ her shower area
▪︎ her changing room and
▪︎ her toilet block
while ignoring that she has a lawful right to female only single sex provision.

The child has not given her consent yo that and the OP is not offering consent on behalf of his child.

Providing a sex offender with a child to offend against is a criminal offence.

If sex offending occurs the adults in the school (et al) tasked with safeguarding will claim that they did not knowingly provide the child.

Safeguarding around sexual offending is about reducing the schools risk of providing a sex offender with a child.

You advocating gor males to be given access to her:

"The fact that it was even allowed and culturally supported for any length of time warms my heart."

You also claimed
"There are some awful people in the world. I believe I would be able to spot a bad faith attempt at transition."

You recognise that sex offending is a possible outcome of the adults in the school forcing the OPs child into mixed sex provision.

Or are you going to claim that sex offending can not or will not happen in mixed sex provision?

If you even with your belief that you can spot the awful people admit that you dont actually trust that you could spot the sex offender 100% of the time why would the same limit not apply to the adults tasked with safeguarding?

These adults are openingly and in writing saying they are not in a position to formulate a lawful safeguarding policy.

So again

How may girls can be subjected to avoidable sexual offending to warm your heart?

Or to reframe

How many male students can be put at risk of engaging in avoidable sex offending on the school grounds?

So why are you here on a thread supporting the school that requires its teenage girls to strip in front of their male peers?

Honestly do you even know what you’re arguing about?

I think this is the "butter wouldn't melt in his mouth" attitude. Of course he objects to one sex stripping in front of the other. But he believes one sex can become the other, so no inconsistency. And no sweat.
