Cambridge student barred from pub over views on gender

I hope this situation goes as smoothly for her and more service providers will start reflecting on whether it’s good business sense in this day and age to ban women for being sane.

Just to add information, which may be of interest, about the society that Thea and her friends started (re a post a few days back):

We had a stall at the Societies Fair in the Cambridge University Students' Union earlier this week. We received over 30 sign-ups. We also displayed a pinboard posing a question to passers-by: 'What does "womanhood" mean to you?' Take a look at how they responded:

I think it was Press for Change that had a strategy of trans people suing places for not letting them use the toilets of the opposite sex asking for an amount of compensation that was less than the legal costs for any defence. Venues would then start letting people use wrong sex toilets rather than risk compensation.

Glad to see the TRA strategy being put to good use by GC women. They're in a better position than the TRAs as the law is on their side

And there was me thinking it was only Starmer and other Labour MPs being banned from pubs.

What a brave young woman+ her two friends in Cambridge.

It helps that there are some media outlets that will cover stories like this in an objective manner. Or indeed, at all. I hope the publicity makes Thea and her friends feel they are not alone, and it also gets the message out that you discriminate against GC women [or men], and it'll cost ya.

Yes she is. And stupid too. Because you can't get banned from university for having sex realist views.

I think Helen Webberley is the same type of antagonist as Katie Hopkins. She enjoys ridiculing and belittling people, promoting extreme views which can only be of interest to a small number of people, and gaining attention for herself via the media.
Thea Sewell is a brave young woman, and I admire her actions and courage.

I feel for Thea and all the other brave women as being ostracised like this is so shit.

I know it shouldn't have happened in the first place and I'm not minimising the impact on these brave young women, but...wow!

This is not the first time Thea has been kicked out of a pub for holding gender critical views. On the day of my graduation, Thea, myself, family and friends were kicked out of a pub in Leeds for the very same reason.

Again, with the help of @SexMattersOrg we sent a letter before claim and received an apology and £1.6k in compensation.

Not even in Cambridge. Assume there is a TRA behind the bar who was instrumental, as so many of these cases involve. Glad she is challenging, these young women are so brave.

It should ring alarm bells for pub owners, shopkeepers and anyone else who provides services to the public that it is not lawful to behave in this bigoted manner towards people who hold perfectly ordinary, factual beliefs.”

Good for her. I feel bad for women like her, who take on so much. I'd assume that the pub are using the usual tactic of re-writing history to make out that she's a horrible person, which will be like another kick in the teeth for her.
