Irish people are being forced to accept policy that transgresses fundamental boundaries and treats nature, identity, culture, family, and nationality as negotiable when in fact, the family unit, community, and inherited culture are the scaffolding of a stable society. We at The Countess are unafraid of analysing policy through the lens of womens’ rights and child safeguarding.

Report: Through a Safeguarding lens, darkly: a thematic report into the International Protection Provision in Ireland

The report has identified significant shifts in the nature of sexual violence across Europe, highlighting emergent trends in opportunistic street attacks and group-based sexual assaults. The findings raise urgent questions for Irish policymakers as the State continues to accommodate over 33,000 individuals in the International Protection system without screening them against European Crime databases.

Drawing on official statistics from multiple EU member states including Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Italy, and France, the report outlines clear evidence that foreign-born individuals are over-represented in sexual offence data, often by a factor of three to four, with even higher rates in specific subcategories such as gang rape.

Sounds like a brilliant piece of work. And I suddenly feel as though I now need to think more deeply/critically about news coverage which portrays those protesting about immigration hotels as right wing racists… all sounding awfully familiar…

Does anyone know if UK immigration stats are disaggregated to allow a similar comparison?

You can't actually know that when you don't know if someone is even guilty of what they were accused of in the first place. I don't assume guilt about anything if I wasn;t there, because I can't know. And people are wrongly accused of crimes all the time.

You have misunderstood the statistics. What they show is, that of all rapes reported to the police less than 3% result in convictions - this figure is for England and Wales and has held true for some years. It does not show how many men who were the subject of these reports were guilty or innocent, nor how many of the convictions were just or unjust. It compares police reports with convictions. Not all rapes are reported to the police.

There have also been studies of how often women falsely accuse men of rape and these suggest that such accusations are also in the low single figures. If this is accurate (and it may not be, it is a very difficult topic to research for fairly obvious reasons) then we have a frighteningly large number of rapes that do not result in convictions.

In kindness, I don't think you are well and suggest you step away from this thread for your own peace of mind.

But you wouldn't even want the data to be collected, let alone published.
I'm a reasonable man, I'm happy to meet half way. For every Brazilian who at most might snatch my mobile phone or steal my car, I'll bar entry other than for the most vigorous of vetting and ability to instantly deport, Afghans, Iraqis and Eritreans, who are more likely to sexually assault or rape my wife or daughter, any female citizen, and also me (since you seem to believe I have no interest in homosexual rape).
I'm very reluctant to admit large numbers of people from nations where the culture is rapey, and the respect for women and children would shame pre-Middle Ages Britain.

There is also the filp of if the person from that country is highly likely to be sex trafficked or human trafficked into the State by native or other nationals.

Is Donald Trump a sexual predator just because some people say he is?

Gridania you seem to have a serious case of the Not my Nigels that has taken over your life, Please feel free to start your own thread about this. If your Nigel is actually Donald Trump then you will get a lot of interest. If you want a serious answer then of course there will be mistaken convictions and accusations of rape and other sex offences. Studies show (and statistics show) that, compared to the offences that do not result in a conviction, these are vanishingly rare. (Hypothesis one rather than hypothesis two).

There's nothing wrong with men and women in the same restrooms or changing rooms. It's been existing longer than segregated restrooms. Kids also run away crying from deformed/disabled people

Claim with no basis in fact.

And this clearly shows no cultural understanding of the snug🍻 or the ½pint.

It is immaterial to this thread.

Not really. Bringing up abortion got you to admit that you don't have a problem with authoritarian governments banning people for having views they find offensive. Which makes you sound nuts, or maybe just a contrary troll.

On one hand, it’s so rare to encounter the Platonic Ideal of a Gish Gallop in the wild 🙄😊 On the other, you’ve done your best to explain the legal situation here but you’re dealing with a ludraman, so…🤷‍♀️

You mean, they lied about how the law works.

Sex crimes have special legal status in Ireland.

They are one of the few serious crimes which can be tried when the offending is 100% out of State.

Recognising that there are countries or cultures which do not recognise the criminal element of sexual acts is not thought policing.

You're also a liar. so it's not worth taking you seriously.

1984Now · 24/01/2026 19:10

Gridania · 24/01/2026 18:55

Well, good thing there's nothing wrong with men and women using the same bathrooms. If you think that's outrageous but think killing unborn babies is fine, you might be a martian yourself.

It's thought policing when you assume that individual/groups of people from harsh countries are criminals themselves or that it's okay to penalize them based on that assumption. That's literally not how it works. None of that is remotely the same as "Recognising that there are countries or cultures which do not recognise the criminal element of sexual acts is not thought policing."

Then there were people in this thread going so far as to say it's fine for countries to ban offensive thought.

AnSolas · 24/01/2026 19:06

Gridania · 24/01/2026 16:43

Can you explain why you think thought policing is okay?

In the UK we are currently in low single figures for the successful prosecutions of reported rapes, and, of course, not all rapes are reported. Assuming Ireland is similar (and I don’t know whether it is) one of the most rational crimes to commit if you don’t want to be convicted is rape.

Yes and TM with a GRC are men and loose all legal protections

So a woman can only be placed in a Male Prison if she showed her GRC on conviction and the GRA said she has a legal obligation to do that.

You've already lied about law yourself trying to present women getting fired for coming parenthood as some sort of standard.

I'm going to leave this thread now as I don't know how the law or criminal justice system works in Ireland and am looking at things from a UK perspective - apologies. If transwomen are legally for all purposes deemed to be women under Irish law, Ireland has a very, very big problem.

Let me guess...they looked at the data, saw that Earthlings chose not to stop men accessing women's spaces and thought, we really don't want that here.
Good thing that unlike Gridania's point of view, this data was indeed collected and published, otherwise how would the Martians be able to formulate policy?

How many men in Ireland have been sacked when they tell their boss they are going to be a parent?

And what legislation could he use in Ireland to sue his employer?

Hmmmm, someone is exaggerating.
